The old thread takes too long to load.

Lets hope this is the one that contains the good news that she has been found alive and well.

OP posts:
DevilsAdvocado · 18/05/2007 11:19

I was probably accused of being personal. But I genuinely just wanted to know what her mindees parents thought of her sat on the net all day.

I ask it a lot, not just of QM but some other c/minders who are on here in minding hours

Nothing personal, I also ask office workers if their bosses mind them being online...

DevilsAdvocado · 18/05/2007 11:19

back off and get back to your silly little playground.

Oh, grow up.

DevilsAdvocado · 18/05/2007 11:24

Ok, I apologise to QM

Sorry QM.

Dora74 · 18/05/2007 11:28

I agree with quietmouse...there are some shockingly nasty, offensive people here.
Iam new to mumsnet ...but I've been seriously put off...What on earth happened yesteday...playground bullies sums it up!
I too wonder at the children these foul mouthed women are bringing up.
I get the impression that this little crew are really one a couple of posters with a lot of alias..I hope so anyway...there swearing and joking yesterdat was incredibly offensive on a thread like this especially.
Oh well i've said my bit..Iam off to go back to my friendlier disney site...too many nastys here...Although some very friendly people too.

Hi all

We've had numerous calls to delete this thread from posters on all "sides" of the debate. As you know we try as much as possible not to delete threads as we don't like to stifle debate, plus we feel on balance mumsnetters do a good job of "policing" threads themselves. This is inevitably an emotive subject but we would ask folks to please take a look at the mumsnet philosophy on the Talk home page, here's part of it:

"This is a discussion forum and we ask you to respect other people's right to their opinions, even if you disagree with them. Our policy is to keep intervention to a minimum and let the conversation flow. Having said that, we will remove postings that are obscene, contain personal attacks or break the law."

Thanks in advance

cab · 18/05/2007 11:55

T got this email earlier on and have forwarded this onto everyone I know - trouble is I don't know how I can attach the posters, maybe someone on here can figure out a link

Dear all

Apologies if you have already received this, but I am sure, under this
circumstances, this is one chain letter we are all happy to forward to
contacts around the world.

Thanks

This message was started this morning by Phil McCann, Madeleine's uncle. 3-year old Madeleine was abducted whilst on holiday in Portugal 13 days ago.

Please pass on if you can, (and translate it if necessary).

As you are aware my niece is still missing and I am asking everyone I know to send this as a chain letter i.e. you send it to everyone you know and ask them to do the same, as the story is only being covered in Britain, Eire and Portugal.

We don't believe that she is in Portugal anymore and need to get her picture and the story across Europe as quickly as possible. Suggestions are welcome.

his got a bit lost earlier from mishw:

cab · 18/05/2007 11:56

Sorry that last post was from mishw - thought it got a bit lost yesterday.

LIZS · 18/05/2007 12:01

TheDevilWears Primark , I'm shocked at the "news" article. Surely that is an example of trial by media, fgs this is a potential criminal investiagtion but it is being treated like some amateur sleuth game by the media. If this is part of the police investigation then it should n't be public news.

Aloha · 18/05/2007 12:02

cab is there the slightest evidence this is really from the family? Sounds like a chain letter to me.

imaginaryfriend · 18/05/2007 12:04

Thanks Rachel.

This is a useful thread for those of us who don't have t.v. access to the news.

cab · 18/05/2007 12:05

Hi Aloha - don't know just reposting from further down this thread. Must admit I did wonder - but what harm would it do to send e-mail and poster links to friends abroad?

mumemma · 18/05/2007 12:08

cab - it might be useful to post this on the 'we need your help' thread as there's a lot on there about how to distribute posters, etc.

cab · 18/05/2007 12:09

Ok

Judy1234 · 18/05/2007 12:46

Thjta link of news with all that evidence is so damning, isn't it?

" Robert Murat phoned Sergey Malinka on his mobile at 11.40pm on the night the four-year-old disappeared - despite both men claiming they hardly know each other.
In an interview with the Daily Mail's sister paper, the Evening Standard yesterday, Mr Malinka denied any contact with Mr Murat, saying: "I have not spoken to him for around a year." "

Also why would Murat hire a car urgently when he has two? SO presumably on this theory the Russian and Murat have taken her somewhere else.

frostyflake · 18/05/2007 13:03

Xenia-I also noticed last night when they asked the russian guy if he knew of Madeleine he said not until the night she went missing then he corrected himself and said not until the next day.

Also I wondered if Murat was helping the police as a translator to aquire information of how the enquires were going and feeding the information back to someone to warn them.

Maybe completly of track but still think there is something more to this concerning these two than we know about.

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks"

Or in this case the man.

Judy1234 · 18/05/2007 13:18

Yes, known pattern of those involved to get involved in investigations as a kind of double bluff. Interesting that all that time people criticised the P. police immediately they were tracking Murat because the local car hire firm reported how concerned they were that someone with 2 cars would call at 11.30pm on the night of the disappearance to hire one urgently and the journalist who helpfully tried to get the police to give more attention to Murat may actually have damaged police attempts to ensure Murat didn't realise they were on to him (if he did it).

Still don't know why anyone would bother taking this kind of girl which would lead to a massive hunt rather than a gypsy child or child of less involved parents etc.

frostyflake · 18/05/2007 14:25

xenia-Did'nt realise he had hired a car at that time on the same night.

Seems a strange thing to do bearing in mind there would have been vechicles available including his own and also at that stage no one knew apart from the person/persons involved if Madeleine was nearby and so a car may not have been needed.

montmerency · 18/05/2007 14:32

It seems that the police don't have anything concrete - the people that have Madeleine must be out there somewhere - they must have friends and relatives who would recognise that something was going on - someone, somewhere, must know something. There is clearly something dodgy about these two men and the police are right to exhaust every avenue on them - I just hope that it leads somehwere and taht they are not ignoring other information in favour of these two.

I just feel realy scared that her story is dropping off the news - she must be kept in the spotlight.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 18/05/2007 14:51

montmerency, well thats not the case at all, todays evening standard has a story about her on the front page.

yellowsnow · 18/05/2007 14:53

I haven't heard it on the news once today

Judy1234 · 18/05/2007 14:58

The car hire chit/invoice is on the link below so it seemed more than just newspaper speculation and the Russian's house has an underground room but who knows? He is also connected to some kind of ferry people and there were the sightings of the small girl struggling whilst being taken towards the same docks. I had rather hoped Murat just had her locked up as a replacement child somewhere but I don't think that fits - usually mothers that steal children to replace children they have lost. Fathers sadly tend to murder their own wives and children if they're deranged. So it must have been for the other purpose with a lot of others involved with is awful and presumably very organised network stuff, people with lots ot lose, protecting their own interests not remotely interested in rewards.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 18/05/2007 15:05

Yellowsnow, if nothing has happened then it's not 'news'
Goddam I tried to stay of these threads but they are like nits. They get everywhere.

LIZS · 18/05/2007 15:07

I really don't see that htis line of enquiry, or indeed any such, should be int he publci domain. It is not news and serves no useful purpose. Sounds like pseudo investigative journalism by some otherwise very bored reporters tbh.

stleger · 18/05/2007 15:09

There was a good documentary a few years ago that pointed out that most women who take children are not replacing their own missing kids. Such mothers want their own back. The women in the documentary who took children were in odd relationships and had told the partner they had a baby or were pregnant. Mysteriously they managed this without men noticing any symptoms.
