The old thread takes too long to load.

Lets hope this is the one that contains the good news that she has been found alive and well.

OP posts:
pinballwizard · 18/05/2007 08:17

even the sun isn't interested

ConnieDescending · 18/05/2007 08:22

There are loads of these 'dreams' doing the rounds on the internet. I'm sure the police have better things to do than investigate them.

JessicaFletcher · 18/05/2007 08:25

has anyone reported this thread to have it deleted

yummymummy06 · 18/05/2007 09:27

I was thinking of emailing the moderators to have this thread deleted. I think it's sick. A similar thread on a similar site was deleted long ago before it got out of hand like this.

ThatBeetroot · 18/05/2007 09:29

loads of us have and this is their response

'Deleting as you know can often make things worse rather than better. We asked all those who wrote to us (and there were many) to try and calm the thread down rather than inflame it and it seems to have worked - for now.'

Wolfgirl · 18/05/2007 10:14

Morning ladies, I complained to MN moderators about the nasty nasty comments, bullying and bitching, this is their response>

"Sometimes threads do get heated , but deleting comments can sometimes inflame things rather than calm them down. Mumsnetters are, on the whole, pretty good at policing posters who get out of hand and eventually, as has happened here, things die down and folks move on"

This was NOT heated, but sheer bullying. My stomach was knotted yesterday, felt really sick, that so many women out that could be so nasty. Ive not come across these sorts of people tbh, and it really does affect me. I think people forget that we are REAL people, and not everyone wants or is able to be bitched about. Now cue violins if you like, whatever! But I find it hateful, and certainly not the way I conduct myself, or would bring my children up. I thought there was a recent campaign to stop bullying in schools, but heck, it goes on right under our noses on forum sites such as these, and MN supposed moderators do NOTHING to help. Looks like they put their feet up and watch gleefully.

Ive been so affected by this Madeleine case, you cant help but be, with it being such a tender issue.

I would like to know what 'flouncing' is please? Im thinking, its where someone starts another thread on the back of an existing one, and start to take the rise out of people. very nasty.

SaintGeorge · 18/05/2007 10:20

That would be the owners. Mumsnet does not have moderators.

Flouncing is announcing that you are leaving because of X, Y, or Z reason. It is possible to leave quietly and with dignity but flouncers prefer to post a thread about their reasons and sit back to wait for everyone to say 'don't go'.

ConnieDescending · 18/05/2007 10:20

Wolfgirl, that is a very emotive and reactionary post. Calling it bullying is quite frankly ridiculous.

Flouncing is when you say you are leaving MN because of something that has irritated you.

SaintGeorge · 18/05/2007 10:23

And I agree with CD.

Heated - yes
Bullying - absolutely not.

BigPantsRule · 18/05/2007 10:29

Agree, Wolfgirl. I think we are all hit by a sheer sense of frustration, we can't help wondering how, by whom, where, why, etc. Many of us have taken positive action in terms of circulating e-mails, posters, etc. but we still can't help racking our brains trying to find the answers to so many questions. If anyone has any ideas or wants to talk about developments, then surely this is the place. Lets just ignore the spiteful stuff.

Wolfgirl · 18/05/2007 10:36

well yes, it was emotive, but thats how I felt.

tortoiseSHELL · 18/05/2007 10:40

...takes big breath...

It is not bullying. Tbh, i think a lot of posters were absolutely appalled and sickened by the speculation, and in particular the emailing of the dream to members of the McCann family. It is one thing to want news, another to send psychic dreams (or claptrap, depending on your viewpoint) to a family in a very REAL situation - I've said that bit before. Just leave them alone! Google is not going to solve this - the police are not stupid.

Sending posters out - fantastic. Dream interpretation and emailing them - inappropriate, insensitve.

morningpaper · 18/05/2007 10:41

Wolfgirl I'm sorry that you felt bullied but I don't think that is fair

People on both sides were VERY UPSET

The continued speculation on the case is just as appalling for some people as is the sarcasm of other posts

I'm sorry you feel so strongly but the best way of dealing with it is to tell individual posters how you feel about specific things rather than to say it is bullying and bitchiness, which just gets EVERYONE'S backs up

Wolfgirl · 18/05/2007 10:50

thanks ladies, I understand what your saying. But I dont think I was googling, I dont have time to spend hours googling up meanings of this and that. And re the dreams, well.... I certainly wouldnt mail the police or the McCanns as I have no idea if that person was genuine or authentic. (I do have opinions on these kinds of things, and did try to share those opinions - and did NOT say thou must act or believe accordingly - but I got flamed down, so that was that - but it wasnt just being flamed down, I was then totally ridiculed on another thread that someone else started, and the bitching on that thread was sickening. it wasnt just aimed at me, in fact I think I got off quite lightly, but the other poor ladies...well! )

People, including me have speculated. I thought I was just talking things out with other interested parties. I didnt, and dont think, I was being ghoulish. I wanted news, and the snippets we were getting, were then being discussed.

Im now going to apologise for the last time, although I dont expect one back - thats fine.
I apologise for offending anyone if they thought ANYTHING I contributed was outlandish, ghoulish or out of order.

I will continue to watch this thread, for news of the little girl, and I may well continue to contribute. I will continue to PRAY with a genuine belief (as I do believe in GOD - just my opinion ladies) and I wish for Madeleines safe return.

bye for now.

morningpaper · 18/05/2007 10:53

OK I don't know what bitching and what thread you are talking about now

I'm VERY SORRY if anything I said upset you Wolfgirl.

In all honesty, this thread is not the place to look for news about the McCanns - stick to the BBC.

Wolfgirl · 18/05/2007 11:01

You know what MP, youre right.

missmarpleofgoogle · 18/05/2007 11:02

mp is always right , its mumsnet law

quietmouse · 18/05/2007 11:05

Wolfgirl - I'm off too. I saw the thread in Chat but was too fuming yesterday to post.

People got personal, about me and particular and started talking about what I do for a job etc.

I'm sick of this place. There are some really, nasty, unpleasant, patronising people here.

They really are like playground bullies. God knows what kind of children they are bringing up.

Anyway, I will continue to pray for Madeleine's safe return.

I, fwiw, did no googling/dream stuff etc, that other thread blew it all out of proportion. We are all just very upset about this case and those people have made us feel like we have done something sick and wrong.

That is just so awful.

Wolfgirl · 18/05/2007 11:11

Yeah well QM, its a new day, we still have our kids, and Maddy is still missing. We should be in unity, not otherwise. You have done nothing wrong imo, you are a lovely lady. Dont you worry, and big hugs to you. But today, try not to jump on these threads, just stick to the BBC or other reliable new sources. Im still feeling sick from what went on here yesterday, and cant do another day of it, personally.

Have a nice day ladies. Im off to play with my kiddies, then do lunch, then to the park - maybe LOL.

SaintGeorge · 18/05/2007 11:11

Wolfgirl - please see qm's post for an example of a flounce.

DevilsAdvocado · 18/05/2007 11:16

QM, how dare you speculate on how people are bringing up their children.

Just because we do not thump our chests or cry that our heart bleeds, does not suggest that you are a superior parent.

Please do not imply it.

morningpaper · 18/05/2007 11:16

mp is always right

well normally MP is dog-with-bone hysterical, rudely sarcastic and unbelievably bored with the detritus of mummy life

but I'll let it go

morningpaper · 18/05/2007 11:17

Calm down DA (v funny name)

People were being personal about Quietmouse and it was out of order

WanderingWanderer · 18/05/2007 11:18

Devilsavocado - just what is your issue with quietmouse. you seem to try to upset her extremely frequently. back off and go back to your silly little playground.
