Madeleine McCann - we need YOUR help to try and find this little girl.

This is slipping from the news and the police are starting to scale down their seraches.

Evidence seems to suggest that Madeline may have been taken to Spain and yet very few people out there are aware of what has happened or what she looks like etc.

We need to send as many emails as we can to Spanish businesses with a poster attachment and highlight this case.

I need mumsnetters to volunteer.

I have called in sick today to get this started but this is a massive task and I cannot do it on my own.

Please let me know if you can help.

She's going onto Agadir

mumof2monsters · 19/05/2007 22:00

Hi Jampot
Why not contact findmadeleine.com and ask for advice. Not sure myself which ones as not sure which language is generally spoken more there

cab · 19/05/2007 22:06

Probably Arabic - although most speak French too - and some Spanish - according to the net.
You'll get the arabic poster at
http: //www.virtualglobaltaskforce.com/
or through bringmadeleinehome website, contact info and virtual global taskforce.

mumof2monsters · 19/05/2007 22:06

jampot · 19/05/2007 22:16

ta

Ive printed a few of each so she can take some extras and get them copied out there if necessary. Ive told her to take them to the Police station and see if they will circulate them

mumemma · 21/05/2007 17:09

This thread has been mainly about distributing posters but there is now an appeal for photos. I know this has already been posted on some other Madeleine threads but not everyone is reading them due to the nature of some of the posts.

"British police are calling on members of the public to help further in the search for Madeleine McCann. If you were at the Ocean Club Resort, Praia da Luz or in the surrounding areas in the two weeks leading up to Madeleine?s disappearance on Thursday 3 May then we would like to have copies of any photographs taken during your stay.

In particular we would like any pictures that have people in them who you don?t know as opposed to scenery shots or pictures of just your own family."

This is the link: www.madeleine.ceopupload.com/

Might be worth adding this to any emails re posters or any other publicity campaigns going on.

Hopefully this has been addressed directly to travel agents and airlines too.

BigPantsRule · 21/05/2007 19:45

Rather than simply issuing a general appeal, why don't the police contact Mark Warner and ask for contact details of everyone staying at the resort that week, who might be able to help with photos and film? Or perhaps ask MW to do this themselves? I wonder why they didn't do this before - there can't be many crime scenes where you have the names and addresses of potential witnesses conveniently listed and available! Not to mention the wealth of photographic records, even if it does need to be ploughed through (though I understand they are going to use some highly sophisticated software for this).

AmberRose · 23/05/2007 11:58

Dear Mums!
Apparently the Portuguese police will not allow sniffer dogs (the most highly trained in the world) to carry out another search for Madeleine. These dogs can pick up a scent for up to 28 days. We are fast approaching that deadline. I would appeal to all of you to email the Portuguese Prime Minister and the Portuguese police appealing for them to allow the sniffer dogs to assist in the search before it is too late!

Wolfgirl · 23/05/2007 12:53

Ummm...just caught a brief news report on the radio, saying that the Portugese police have taken in two more Witnesses, and neither of them are Robert Murat.

Has anyone else heard anything? thanks xx

bubbly1973 · 23/05/2007 15:19

firstly im sorry i havent read the whole thread perhaps my answer is in there but i dont have time as this was asked last minute.

my sister in law is going to morroco and wants to know if theres anywhere in the shops etc where you can get hold of posters

i dont want to download the poster but i was wondering if there are posters to pick up for holiday goers to put around

also, since its morroco that seems to be the last sighting, has anyone mentioned getting posters printed in arabic and handed out in travel agents for them to give to holiday goers to stick up?

hope someone can help as she is going on holiday tomorrow and we want about 10posters

mumemma · 23/05/2007 16:07

Poster in Arabic available here:

www.virtualglobaltaskforce.com/downloads/CEOPHelpMadeleine_ar.pdf

No idea whether you can get it anywhere else - I would try and download and print before she goes if possible.

AmberRose · 23/05/2007 16:25

For bubbly1973, tell her to go to any internet cafe out there or even see if her hotel has a facility she can use to print off some posters.

wannaBe · 23/05/2007 16:26

If police dogs didn?t pick up a scent the first time round it will be because there wasn?t one. They don?t decide not to use them just because they can?t be bothered, if this means of searching was likely to find Madeleine they would be using it. Emailing the police will achieve nothing other than to clog up their inboxes with unnecessary emails. They know what they?re doing. It's not for us, the general public who know nothing, to start telling them how to do their job and insisting they use this and that method of searching.

And the resort isn?t exclusive to Mark Warner. There are other hotels, villas, apartments, belonging to travel companies and private individuals. There is no way of knowing the names and addresses of every person that was holidaying there at the time, and under data protection the police can?t just request the names and addresses of everyone who was there because they?re not directly linked with a crime. It can only be an appeal because nobody is legally obliged to hand over their holiday snaps.

bubbly1973 · 23/05/2007 16:57

thank you both for all your help, i have managed to get both arabic and english printed over my mother in laws house, so much appreciated for that arabic poster link

she will get her dh to go to library to make lots of copies tomorrow before they fly off

thanks again

Hi, my name is Claire, cannot send msg directly to Davina(PDNSw) but hoping this will work. I live in Ireland and have been round the twist trying to get people, anyone to help in an email campagne for Madeleine so to keep it brief, if you're reading this Davina please contact me if I can be of any help. I've put together another poster appeal with a little more detail which I will forward if you want. please get in touch if you read this (I'm a new member so I'm guessing you'll be able to figure out how to do that a lot quicker than me!

hope to hear from you soon ;)

ProtectAllChildren · 23/05/2007 23:15

ah, I get...Thank God I finally found the right people(but for a select few!) So this is something a lot of people are trying to do...well at least some of my prayers have been answered (not the obvious one but I trust in God and his work through good people) Anyway, as mentioned in my last post, I need to help...I might at this point add for the benefit of a small number of people that I am most definately NOT a bored housewife(I wish!!!) I am a 29 yr old single mother with a full time job in the emergency services and I can assure you I would rather been cleaning up vomit and liquid faeces than be trying to help find a little girl who cannot help herself!

Now with that out of the way if any of you need me to email or do anything computer-based(see above re time constraints) I am more than willing.

This kind of thing has gone on for far to long and after a period of time when the media coverage has wained children have been forgotten by all but those who loved them and it is because a clear msg was never sent 'WE, THE MOTHERS AND FATHERS OF THIS WORLD WILL PROTECT OUR CHILDREN, FIND OUR MISSING CHILDREN AND FIND YOU!!!. We cannot let Madeleine be another tragic forgotten child, we need to stand up and be counted and let the whole world know that ALL CHILDREN ARE OUR CHILDREN and we will forget our different skin colours, our different religions, our different classes BUT NOT OUR CHILDREN.

laughsalot · 25/05/2007 09:01

has anyone heard anymore about the sighting in morocco??? This sounded very hopefull, the description was spot on and she was very upset etc etc -the police interviewed the dutch woman 3 times ,so they must have felt that this was possibly her. we need to get this publicity out there too -not just spain .
i dont know much about morocco or its relationship with the uk. what do you think ??

Wolfgirl · 25/05/2007 21:32

I read on a news report today, that by the time the Portugese police had picked up on this womans sighting, the petrol station had wiped the CCTV footage! Apparantly, it took police officials over 10 days to respond to her calls.

I do hope though, that they are still able to do something out in Morroco though, pick up some trail - even though there is no footage.

I also read today, that a child was abducted 30 miles outside of Praia da Luz on Christmas day; an immediate search set about, and within the day, the child was spotted holding some blokes hand, going up a hill; The mother screamed out her name, the child turned round and started to struggle for the man to release her hand; the bloke pushed her away and then legged it. Never seen again - when the parents reported it to the police, the police said they couldnt get involved because 'no crime had been committed' - huh? huh? . Anyway, they are apparantly re-visitng that episode to see if anything can be recovered from it, description of bloke etc.

What else have I picked up today.... cant think tbh, am tired and off to bed in a min.

Shame all this though, very sad. xx

Loreleimeerfrau · 25/05/2007 22:38

I had an idea of how to send Madeleine's picture as far as possible.
On Royal Mail's website, you can make "smilies", which are small photos which you can print and have Royal Mail make into a big postage stamp.
It is possible to download a photo of Madeleine and some text onto this.
The cost for 20 stamps is £14.95 - only a few pounds more than normal stamps. The more you order, the less extra it costs. If you order 50 stamps, it only costs one pound or so more than normal stamps.
I emailed the idea to the bringMadeleinehome website. The only downer is that Royal Mail quote up to 2 weeks lead time - maybe that time could be shortened in the circumstances?
I wondered if you thought it might be a good idea or not?
Hope Madeleine is re-united with her family as soon as possible. It's all so upsetting.
Lorelei

Flumpybumpy · 25/05/2007 22:41

Loreleimeerfrau - Good idea, hope you get a response soon!!

cadelaide · 01/06/2007 11:55

bump for madeleine

tonysmum · 02/06/2007 08:32

hi all, I started to read this thread today. I came back from a holiday to the Canary Islands (Spain) recently and a poster with Madeleine's picture was pretty much in every place we visited, including the airport, it had a Spanish and a British (News of the world I think) contact phone number. I hope they find her soon.

mumof2monsters · 02/06/2007 13:13

Hey tonysmum
That is good news that there are posters there. A colleague of mine has just come back from spain via alicante airport and he said there was nothing he could see until he got to the airport in this country.
It is worrying that the media seems to be dying off and you can understand why as there is really no news to report but lets hope the dna find proves good and that the police get some leads.
Pray for madeleine x
