Madeleine McCann - we need YOUR help to try and find this little girl.

This is slipping from the news and the police are starting to scale down their seraches.

Evidence seems to suggest that Madeline may have been taken to Spain and yet very few people out there are aware of what has happened or what she looks like etc.

We need to send as many emails as we can to Spanish businesses with a poster attachment and highlight this case.

I need mumsnetters to volunteer.

I have called in sick today to get this started but this is a massive task and I cannot do it on my own.

Please let me know if you can help.

Anyone have contacts in South Africa?

DP is in Jo'burg at the moment and said she saw a girl who looked "just like Madeleine" but was unable to get close enough to look at her eye.She was with two adults and two other children and seemed quite happy so there is no suggestion this was her.

However,it got me thinking and having visited some South African websites there is little if any news and no pictures of Madeleine.

In theory, whoever took her could have taken a ferry to Morocco and then travelled into South Africa pretty easily.

Any idea how we can raise awareness in SA.
DP is now on her way home so unable to help.

pinkmummy1989 · 14/05/2007 14:25

i have next door neihbours from SA they have fmaily is that any good maybe they could ring or send poster to them through email off my com?

xx

ToughDaddy · 14/05/2007 14:29

will ask cousin in Joburg to send around

moodlumthehoodlum · 14/05/2007 14:30

The problem with the latest poster is that it doesn't have the number to call from outside the UK, which is so important. I will try and negotiate my husband's iMac and see if we can add this on, but can't do this for a couple of hours, so if anyone has a better idea, go ahead!

SwiperNoSwiping · 14/05/2007 14:41

There is also a banner been made now for people to use you can copy & paste the Code for it, it is on www.findmadeleine.com has anyone asked if MNHQ would put this banner on the homepage?

AbbaTsmum · 14/05/2007 14:41

Have emailed HIVE - an organisation that operates all over the world for military families - and have also persuaded my organisation marketing and refining - Total (including petrol stations) to get a poster campaign going. Our parent company is in France. They are awaiting authorisation.

Whoooosh · 14/05/2007 14:42

Oh I wish I had better computer skills because the best poster to send is definitely the one showing her eye clearly but as you say-with no international number on it,it isn't a lot of good.

If we can get one done maybe it is worth sending to Holiday chains?
Apologies if already suggested but Holiday Inn,Intercontinental etc who have worldwide presence.

Anything we can get to South Africa has to be worth it-via neighbours or any other means.

just wish dp had been able to get close enough to hear/see more.....suppose it had been her??

PinkChick · 14/05/2007 14:49

can it not be saved into yor documents then opend in photo it or the like ?, then you can add writing ie: the number??

Whoooosh · 14/05/2007 14:53

Will give it a go but really am completely useless at anything other than email.

Anyone thought of asking if EBAY would put a banner on their sites?(worldwide)

Am happy to do it if anyone has a more direct email address/contact we could use.

Rantum · 14/05/2007 15:00

Anyone a biker/know any bikers - I remember DH saying that in the US quite often motorcycle clubs (that tour) are quite big on helping out with child abduction cases - displaying posters when they tour for instance.

Just a thought.

Wolfgirl · 14/05/2007 15:08

There is a huge number of bikers in Portugal already sweeping the country with posters and doing the rounds, going into villages where the media cant get, or there is little coverage like TV etc. Great, good on them!

Rantum · 14/05/2007 15:32

That is good to know.

Awaiting a response from a couple of companies re: request to display poster. Any more luck anyone else?

Whoooosh · 14/05/2007 15:35

Have emailed contacts at Carphone Warehouse and T-Mobile-maybe get the banner on their websites and posters in their shops.
There may be people who have been out of the country where they had no access to TV etc (even a villa in Portugal)
and may have their memory jogged.

fifisworld · 14/05/2007 16:34

I really want to tyr and help.
Do we have a list of who has been contacted already or are we just bombarding everyone anyway and getting them to do something??

fifisworld · 14/05/2007 16:35

try even

Rantum · 14/05/2007 16:36

I think that we may be using the bombardment method - less organised for sure, not necessarily a bad way to do it though - mounts the pressure on company's and orgs to do something, I guess.

mumemma · 14/05/2007 16:37

I'm going to try and get my husband to do the poster with the international number - he's a graphic designer and can do it easily but he's out at the moment. If he doesn't come back soon, I'll see if I can make a start.

Rantum · 14/05/2007 16:38

That sounds like a good plan mumemma.

PinkChick · 14/05/2007 16:39

can someone print the international number now for me and ill have a quick go before i put the dinner on.
