The woman on the till at M&S was discussing this loudly with her colleague whilst I was paying for my lunch

"it just shows, you can't let them out of your sight, they are not safe ANYWHERE"

I think she would have beaten her chest and cried had she not been scanning buns

My hand twitched on my tuna salad and I wanted to lob it at her over reacting face

fgs

and agree with soph, most child abuce happens within families, about 98% I think it is, so the instances of children being abused by strangers are extremely, extremely small. as for that statistic "there's a paedophile on every street, well I guess that depends on how you relate to the term paedophile. if a 16 year old sleeps with his 15 year old girlfriend, he could be put on the sex offenders register and considered a child sex offender, and to some, that would make him a paedophile.

quietmouse · 08/05/2007 14:19

charlottelouise - I don't think there is any point in speculating.

We are all hoping for the same outcome anyway.

McDreamy · 08/05/2007 14:20

I agree ScoobyDoo life does have to go one - you can't stop it.

Our small community here was rocked when a mother lost her husband and her 2 children in a house fire last month - she's now gone back to the UK to live the rest of her life. It will never be the same but it goes on

quietmouse · 08/05/2007 14:21

why would you want to do that oliveoil?

Was she harming you in any way?

oliveoil · 08/05/2007 14:22

she was annoying me greatly and was incorrect

children are safe 99% of the time

but the horrific 1% makes us all scared to let them live

not in this house hopefully

anyway, I am not on this thread

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 08/05/2007 14:22

charlotte I think everyone probably has individual views on the outcome but speculation hasn't left this thread in a very good state so it's best not to go there tbh.

LilyLoo · 08/05/2007 14:23

Surely if the british authorities can now supply contacts of people involved in these rings there is more chance of finding her. I really have no idea how they operate but if they have got specialists who work in this field looking into it and also have names and addresses surely that's a lead ?

LIZS · 08/05/2007 14:23

charlottelouise I don't think ther is any need to be ghoulish Are you new to MN btw ?

ScoobyDooooo · 08/05/2007 14:23

I tell you what instead of aiming all your anger at each other why not start getting angry at the person/persons who have taken this innocent little child away from her happy family life, whoever they are they are just evil, selfish, sick, twisted bastards.

Breath......

Enid · 08/05/2007 14:24

yeah thanks for that charlottelouise

I rest my case

crispyduck · 08/05/2007 14:25

Agree lilyloo..

LilyLoo · 08/05/2007 14:25

Agree Scooby scary how many perverts are bloody involved in thses things it makes you want to be sick it really does.

oliveoil · 08/05/2007 14:25

oh god, another one threatening to be sick

don't think about them then!!!!

quietmouse · 08/05/2007 14:25

charlottelouise - I think you should ask for your last post to be deleted.

It was unnecessary imo.

Did you not wonder why no one had mentioned it in the 90 minutes you have been here? [hmm

charlottelouise · 08/05/2007 14:26

i am new, its my first thread, and lets just say its been an interesting one

crispyduck · 08/05/2007 14:26

we all want the same outcome..

noddyholder · 08/05/2007 14:26

who is charlottelouise?

LIZS · 08/05/2007 14:26

Agree Enid. As this thread was originally to provide updates of actual developments in the search , of which there seem to be non atm, is this really the time or place to discuss reports based upon conjecture ? It simply provides potential fodder for unoccupied journalists et al.

charlottelouise · 08/05/2007 14:27

i was only asking what the general opinion was. sorry if it caused anyone offence x

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 08/05/2007 14:28

I think whatever the mccans do though it would be the right thing for them, and I don't think saying life has to go on is a criticism or a judgement or anything. Sadly life does have to go on, especially when there are other children. I too have only one child and if anything happened to him I wouldn't want to live any more, but if I had other children I would have to return to normality at some point for their sakes. But that doesn't mean I would ever forget, or stop grieving for, the child I'd lost.

ScoobyDooooo · 08/05/2007 14:28

charlottelouise - I think you have been here before, maybe not under this name but i am pretty sure you are not new, just my opinion though of course

dionnelorraine · 08/05/2007 14:29

noddy - why are you asking who is charlottelouise???

LilyLoo · 08/05/2007 14:29

Right Olive won't think about it then then they won't disgust me
Lizs i would argue that as the british authorities are saying that that is there main lead at the moment it is a 'development' in the search for her ?
