Don't know if anyone else has started a new thread .

OP posts:
CaveMum · 27/07/2017 21:41

They released a "new" photo on a Tuesday, one that was obviously from last year as a) he looked like a newborn and b) he was not on a ventilator.

justthesolution · 27/07/2017 21:41

I think a few days ago 11122 gorgeous little chap in a blue babygro. Was it you whose Dad is apoplectic with rage against GOSH?

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 27/07/2017 21:43

I'm assuming the CA lot have calmed down now?

Sostenueto · 27/07/2017 21:43

About a week or two ago I think 11122a

Teddy1970 · 27/07/2017 21:44

Thinking of Chris, Connie and little Charlie tonight...I might not have agreed on how they've gone about this, but at the end of the day they're going to have to say goodbye their son very soon, and that alone is just awful...sending them love and light at this dark time.

Stoprightnowplease · 27/07/2017 21:45

MumIsRunningAMarathon, they are still going on twitter.

11122aa · 27/07/2017 21:45

Yes it was. With the sad news possibly breaking on the weekend it will be up to me to break it to hi.

smilingmind · 27/07/2017 21:45

Latest court document. Don't think it has already been posted.

Teddy1970 · 27/07/2017 21:46

Mum not really, some of them are still spouting rubbish...

SimplyNigella · 27/07/2017 21:47

Nobody can ever give them enough time- an extra hour, day, week will never be enough for them. How can it be?

Sadly I can't see them coming to terms with what's going to happen before it does, after so much time in denial I think they are too entrenched in that mindset to be able to.

justthesolution · 27/07/2017 21:49

Must be very hard 11122 I have had a couple of rather heated RL conversations with friends and have reluctantly decided not to mention it to anyone which is why these threads are such a comfort. I had great experience of GOSH and end of life care which is why it all resonates so strongly.

jinglejanglejobs · 27/07/2017 21:49

Just seen the statement. They have forgotten that they were told they needed a paediatric intensivist. A neonatologist and respiratory consultant are good, but they're not what was asked for.

Hopefully they can start healing soon.

There's a lot more balance on CA now

Sostenueto · 27/07/2017 21:54

Blimey that's sounds awful, not intended to be sorrySad

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 27/07/2017 21:54

I hope this will be over very soon, for Charlie's sake. Given the ventilator was originally gling to be switched off on 30th June, they have had a lot more time then they would have got.

smilingmind · 27/07/2017 21:57

Does anyone know how to report something on twitter. There is a photo of the front of Great Ormond Street Hospital with a very big swastika flag hanging up.
I will log in and see if I can do it but thought someone might know.

Lelloteddy · 27/07/2017 21:58

Commenting seems to have been turned off on CA as well, which can only be a positive thing for Chris, Connie and therefore Charlie.

Hollycatberry · 27/07/2017 21:58

I've read all 20 threads and only posted v occasionally as others have covered my thoughts much more eloquently. It's a desperately sad situation, but the mob mentality on social media and poor reporting of the facts has really concerned me.

I found this blog on the LSE website very interesting and covers some of the discussion and concerns raised throughout these threads, particularly around criticism of doctors/"the establishment" and facts and evidencing being left out of reporting.

blogs.lse.ac.uk/polis/2017/07/26/social-media-and-charlie-gard-populism-versus-public-services-guest-blog/

Sorry if it's already been posted. Just wanted to share for those looking for wider reading and perspectives.

yolofish · 27/07/2017 21:59

I also hope this will all be over very soon. I think, even if I loathed everyone in the hospital, I would not be risking the transfer and the trauma that goes with that; I would be hoping for a quiet, private space and I would just do it. I cannot get round the thought that Charlie is in pain/distress and unable to express it, or experience any positive feelings. This is such a cruel process, and prolonging it makes it even more cruel IMO.

AccrualIntentions · 27/07/2017 22:03

Smilingmind - if you click on the tweet (on mobile) there should be a little sort of down arrow symbol which brings up a drop down menu, and report is one of the options. I've reported that one too, although I find twitter to be very slow to respond to reports generally.

Starlight2345 · 27/07/2017 22:04

I have not long ago had to put my upset DS (10 ) to bed .. He wants charlie to live ..So have spent a long bedtime trying to help him understand it, in an age appropriate level but also recognise how sad it is for Charlie and his parents.

It left me hoping that Charlie's parents are getting some real support somewhere to help them try and understand why this is in Charlie's best interests.

Purpletears · 27/07/2017 22:04

All of my love and thoughts go out to Charlie, Chris and Connie tonight. Time has run out on a baby's life and for two parents who, whether you agree with them or not, have done what they felt was best. I will light a candle for them all tonight.

AnOccasionalDelurker · 27/07/2017 22:05

By and large, this has been a lovely, supportive thread. It makes me very sad that the parents have fallen into the clutches of exploitative cranks and fanatics when there is genuine support available out there from parents who have been through similar things. Different situation, but my mother made some great friendships through SANDS, many years ago. I hope Charlie's parents find a similar support network eventually because the bottom-feeders have done them no good at all.

SimplyNigella · 27/07/2017 22:06

Holly that is a great piece, the author name changed to post the link to her blog earlier but it's a good idea to post again in case anyone missed it.
