We're back
Gard: lawyers return to court. Connie Yates in her usual seat. Judge about to enter. Armstrong preparing to update him on discussions.

Laiste · 26/07/2017 16:23

looby - you're probably right you know.

Golondrina · 26/07/2017 16:23

CGF has just tweeted that they are coming back in. JR still not tweeted again.

"Can a retired doctor be allowed to look after Charlie in his last days anyway?
Surely the hospital wouldn't release him to the care of a random retired doctor regardless of his credentials?
And would GOSH nurses legally allowed to work in these circumstances?"
I assume those are issues that the legal team for GOSH understands. Whether it is medically desirable to have this novel ITU set-up, and whether or not the hospice agree, and what the timescale will be............
News reports elsewhere refer to a 'team of doctors' (Telegraph), and since the Telegraph had the muscle atrophy info that I didn't see elsewhere, may be reliable.............

Coming back in now...........

All rising for the judge

muckypup73 · 26/07/2017 16:24

The judge in my opinion is trying to do something for the parents, we all know Charlie is going to die, but just giving them a little something make may help them feel a tiny bit better.

Armstrong: discussions between doctor and GOSH. No arrangements yet that would satisfy GOSH. Is an intensivist needed for palliative care?

"Is an intensivist needed for palliative care?"

GOSH not satisfied. It's medical opinions fight time again...........

Ceto · 26/07/2017 16:26

Maryz, the DM have a track record of making up fictional accounts of what happens in court beforehand. Remember the Amanda Knox case where they accidentally posted a graphic account of everyone's reactions to her losing the appeal - except she'd won?

BubblesBuddy · 26/07/2017 16:26

The judge will not have a medical adviser. He relies on evidence from experts. GOSH have experts. They will need to respond, via their QC, to proposals from a new Dr. However the judge won't listen to just any Dr when GOSH are the acknowledged experts. That's why he wants details about this Dr. The Barristers can meet to agree a way forward that suits all sides outside court.

The Judge also relies on the law and the fact that the needs of the child come first. That is enshrined in family law.

Butterymuffin · 26/07/2017 16:26

There's going to be another 24 hours delay, isn't there? Sad

Ceto · 26/07/2017 16:27

Barrister Grant Armstrong says Connie Yates still wants to work to sort arrangements and is asking for more time for this.

mikado1 · 26/07/2017 16:27

I agree muckypup but where does it end? The family may see him as a soft touch/ally and keep pushing.

Armstrong: Connie Yates wants to press on. Can she have more time? She now feels discussions should be conducted in private.

OP posts:
Sirzy · 26/07/2017 16:27

It isn't about her though, it's about what is best for her son and she is at serious risk of letting her stubbornness make his last days even harder than they need to be.

I do wonder if the fact Chris isn't there speaks volumes about who is pushing this side of things.
