Ok guys, we have been very lucky to discuss this, please lets not give anyone anything to complain about, Mhq have been more than accomodating.

Well I don't think any decision is being made today or tomorrow or the next. Actually I'm not sure the judge can make a decision, he's not being allowed to. Every time you think, right, nearly sorted, up pops another 'expert', no CV, no preparation, no information which means more adjournments. Blah de blah de bloody blah!

redshoeblueshoe · 26/07/2017 15:34

Well they wasted time going to court if the Mirror knows the answer

cjt110 · 26/07/2017 15:34

NellieBuff Very well said. I think in the most, we are being sensible, compassionate posters. Although there always comes along someone....

I think the comments on the articles in the DM speak volumes, most liked are those of empathy but resolve that this needs to end for Charlie.

officeshoes · 26/07/2017 15:34

TheDevil I assume they thought it could be thrashed out this morning and concluded officially at 2pm. I am beginning to think we could still all be sitting here agog in a week's time

MillieMoodle · 26/07/2017 15:34

Mucky yes that date was mentioned in a tweet but the tweet seems to have been deleted subsequently. I posted earlier asking if anyone had seen the same tweet and another poster had, but I asked for my post to be deleted in case reference wasn't meant to be made to a specific date in the media.

officeshoes · 26/07/2017 15:35

Sostenueto I was just wondering where you might be!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2017 15:35

(Chris Gard)'s commented on the qualifications of the guardian in response to the request of the CV of the new doctor

Oh dear

I'd like to comment on that, but of sadly anything not slavishly supportive of the parents' every action will be deleted

cjt110 · 26/07/2017 15:36

Sost You have summed up my feelings. Nice to see you around again

If I were GOSH nurse (which I'm not) what would stop me volunteering to care for Charlie elsewhere would be a) the fear that he would pass away before the week was up and I would find myself being held responsible b) the worry that "just" a week wouldn't be the end of it and there would be stalling /refusals to comply when time was up - especially as a date a few days before his birthday is being touted. I can foresee lots of "he's here now and comfortable so let him have x more days.

Absolutely, like swimming through treacle with one's feet tied together.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 26/07/2017 15:38

I'm waiting for an expert "judge" to pop up...

Venusflytwat · 26/07/2017 15:38

I don't know if my photo uploaded from the app. I politely asked Catherine Glenn Foster on Twitter why she was omitting portions of the court proceedings that didn't fit her agenda.

She responded by blocking me.

Says it all really, doesn't it.

Genuine question are they proposing that public money continues to fund this strange legal battle over the inevitable/ the doctor/ the prolonged end of life care? Or are they proposing to use some of the donated £1.3 million?

The lawyers are funding the battle on their side. Presumably public money is funding GOSH and the guardian.

CoolCarrie · 26/07/2017 15:39

Delaying tactics in full swing there, the parents have clearly decided to hang on to the hope of Charlie being able to have his first birthday. I think if they were allowed to take him home, they would very possibly not allow the machines to be turned off at all, so at least at a hospice, there would be considered, controlled care for the end of life situation.
All very sad

So imagine what could happen if Charlie went to a hospice for a week. If the retired doctor is unable to cope and rings 999 does GOSH have to send out their doctors to the hospice to look after him for the rest of the week or would they have to readmit him to GOSH?

Incitatis · 26/07/2017 15:41

Oh dear Venus you must have hit a nerve. She's a petulant thing isn't she? Can't handle a reasonable challenge?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2017 15:41

I'm not sure the judge can make a decision, he's not being allowed to

Is that really the case though, or is it that he's not so far been prepared to?

As I've said I'm no legal expert, so would be interested in the views of anyone who is ...

I think you're spot on GrumbleBumble

In their shoes, I wouldn't want to volunteer (pretty much for those reasons). I do wonder if the nurses concerned have actually volunteered, or just said generally they would help when they could.
