Ok guys, we have been very lucky to discuss this, please lets not give anyone anything to complain about, Mhq have been more than accomodating.

I wonder if the GOSH nurses who have allegedly volunteed are PICU or retrieval trained nurses.

AcrossthePond55 · 26/07/2017 15:25

Blue I think it's because other parents aren't surrounded by a huge mass of people reinforcing their unrealistic beliefs and a media anxious to sell papers. Other parents are surrounded only by caring professionals and their own families and possibly clergy. All of whom are comforting them while (hopefully) expressing their beliefs that in some instances it's just best to let go.

Perihelion · 26/07/2017 15:25

I really can't see a hospice agreeing to have an ICU set up.
On the time limit for hospices in general, I think it is more for people to consider not going in too early or starting care at home too soon ( trying to use the resources they have as best as possible ). With hospice at home for a relative I was told two weeks of a nurse overnight was allowed, when queried as it was getting close to the limit, they said they would continue to provide overnight nursing/ care as it was near the end and needed.

straighttalker · 26/07/2017 15:25

There is no such thing as an intensive care surgeon.

While it is not forbidden for surgeons to dual train in intensive care, it doesn't happen often. There is only one that I know in the UK - and THIS IS NOT HIM.

I cannot see that a real intensivist would support this horrible horrible charade.

I look forward to the judge examining his credentials.

iogo · 26/07/2017 15:25

I'm afraid not Puzzledandpissedoff. He's commented on the qualifications of the guardian in response to the request of the CV of the new doctor.

I feel terribly sad for them. They are in such a bad place.

CGF is updating her feed to include the part about socialised medicine that a PP tweeted her to point out she'd neglected to say. According the the feed she was actually out of the courtroom for that section.

yolofish · 26/07/2017 15:25

ethically, I believe GOSH always has to act in the best interest of the patient, not the patient's family? in that case, I cant see that they could ethically agree to him being moved, with the associated risks that accompanies that. plus everything else everyone else has already said. Poor Charlie.

Headofthehive55 · 26/07/2017 15:25

It's certainly possible to provide ventilation at home. Many people do have ventilators at home. The only difference appears to be is that he has ventilation through his nose rather than a tracheostomy. The tube can still be dislodged or knocked then too.

I don't doubt that it's possible to set up a mini Icu anywhere - however I'm not sure it's desirable.

TinselTwins · 26/07/2017 15:26

JF is in an awful position, he must be very aware that the backlash from CA and the media outlets that support their views is likely to be huge. In fact I would go as far to say that I worry for his safety

I'm not! Look at how many of CA have actually got out of their armchairs through any of this?
A tiny teeny handful have physically mobilised, the rest just post on social media and might maybe troll him
which isn't "harmless" but also I think his physical safety is not too much of a problem due to all the "ooo I wish I could be there hun but I can't be arsed" type posts on CA events!

ScarlettSahara · 26/07/2017 15:26

Just seen your later post Tinsel and I am saddened to learn that Sad

officeshoes · 26/07/2017 15:26

This isn't going to get sorted by the end of today is it ...

MrsSthe3rd · 26/07/2017 15:26

I don't think the nurses, as well as all the other medical staff, will come off too well when if the parents go down the suing route after Charlie has passed away. Yet, they're still willing to put themselves in that situation.

Sure she was. Hmm

Look what happens when you dare to question why Catherine Glenn Foster is only tweeting selective parts of the court narrative that fit her agenda:

Maybe the mirror has a crystal ball.
I can't see how it would be any less accurate than their usual reporting.

BluePheasant · 26/07/2017 15:30

Agree completely AcrossthePond I feel very sorry for them, they are so lost in it all and should have been able to say goodbye to Charlie peacefully months ago.

I'm having a bad day what with one thing and another but it is not nearly as bad as what C&C and Charlie are having to endure.

I am going to sound like a head mistress now but it would be nice if this thread was allowed to run and not to have it deleted or derailed.

NerrSnerr · 26/07/2017 15:31

I was hoping to come on to find it was all over but no, more arguing.

CremeFresh · 26/07/2017 15:31

C&C can't possibly have envisioned this becoming so big . It seems they're on a runaway train and don't know how to get off Sad

Now this is interesting. Tweet from @mudlarklives:

So, as per latest @PrivateEyeNews, much of Mail's #CharlieGard sob stuff was written (interest undeclared) by parents' media agent and publicist.

Copying this without comment. Think carefully about your posts today though as pp have said.

The 30 minute adjournment is now 60. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but the hearing should have started at 10.00am. Actually it isn't even hindsight, a lot of MNers saw this coming yesterday, that there would be another reason for a last minute delay.

MrsSthe3rd - I don't think the nurses, as well as all the other medical staff, will come off too well when if the parents go down the suing route after Charlie has passed away.

MrsS, why do you think the medical staff 'won't come off too well'?

Swannykazoo · 26/07/2017 15:33

When the media coverage is so poor and sensationalist, this thread of genuine sensible discussion about the issues stands out and I keep coming back to it - like a reassurance of not being the only one worried Charlie's needs are getting forgotten in the whole grief.
