If anyone wants to post, perhaps we could consider what implications today's case might have for others in future ... ?

Judge: these are issues that cry out for mediation rather than a judgment by me. No, it should be a decision made, otherwise it will be prolonged further. First time I have disagreed with HJF

JaneEyre70 · 25/07/2017 14:25

Well done to the Judge for saying it shouldn't be in court.

Ellie56 · 25/07/2017 14:26

They're going to end up with CA doing candlelight vigils on the front lawn. Shock

cjt110 · 25/07/2017 14:26

JaneEyre70 Don't you think it would cause further delay trying to reach a decision?

angelnix · 25/07/2017 14:26

@JoshuaRozenberg

Armstrong: what power does hospital have to prevent a patient being cared for in a way the court regards as appropriate?

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 25/07/2017 14:26

Which hospice is going to sign their staff, families and kids in residence up for this?!

AcrossthePond55 · 25/07/2017 14:26

Oh dear God. The judge is mentioning mediation. Your Honour, it's time to just make a decision. Not refer it back for mediation.

GabsAlot · 25/07/2017 14:27

sorry if its crossing a lin but she had a chance to keep this private and she took the show option

angelnix · 25/07/2017 14:27

@JoshuaRozenberg

Armstrong: parents and GOSH have disagreed on timing and venue.

cjt110 · 25/07/2017 14:27

Armstrong: parents and GOSH have disagreed on timing and venue. This is why HJF needs to rule.

opinionatedfreak · 25/07/2017 14:27

Oh Jesus "what power does the hospital have to prevent a patient being cared for in a way the court regards as appropriate"

Have these guys never had to accept before that you might want moonshine and unicorns but that isn't possible and you just have to accept tea & biscuits.

If the kit won't fit in your house it won't fit in your house.

GabsAlot · 25/07/2017 14:27

judge is fed up with it all

NotLachsAgainMother · 25/07/2017 14:27

what power does hospital have to prevent a patient being cared for in a way the court regards as appropriate?

Erm if it can't be done, it can't be done.

If nobody wants to do it (ie go to their house), they can't be forced to!

lanouvelleheloise · 25/07/2017 14:28

I'm would like to think professionals at GOSH wouldn't feel 'humiliated' by the parents' wish for the child to die at home. Confused

angelnix · 25/07/2017 14:28

@JoshuaRozenberg

Judge ask Gollop QC for GOSH if hospital can meet parents' wishes. She replies: they have been trying to have a conversation with parents.

sodablackcurrant · 25/07/2017 14:28

Judge might be fed up but it was he who said the child should not be moved without the approval of the court.

Messy.

CaveMum · 25/07/2017 14:28

Across I think the Judge is saying this sort of thing should be settled by mediation, not dragged to court.

MissHavishamsleftdaffodil · 25/07/2017 14:28

Judge's released decision yesterday mentioned that he did not need to make an order and make it mandatory, which had clearly been something GOSH wanted on the table in case.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 25/07/2017 14:28

Exactly MissHavisham.

angelnix · 25/07/2017 14:29

@JoshuaRozenberg

Gollop QC: hospital has offered mediation several times since Saturday. We don't understand why parents don't want mediation.

NotLachsAgainMother · 25/07/2017 14:29

I think the judge's point with mediation is that people can't go to court for every little thing (not saying that this is a 'little' thing, obviously). But the court isn't there to settle every single dispute between two parties. Plus they then become a matter of public record.

GabsAlot · 25/07/2017 14:29

thyv already trid i bet it was home or nothing

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 25/07/2017 14:29

My last post was to Miss Havisham's 14.26 post.

@JoshuaRozenberg

Gollop QC: further discussion will take time "to no useful purpose".
