If anyone wants to post, perhaps we could consider what implications today's case might have for others in future ... ?

Thanks all for the links to JR tweets. I did a search and I came up with replies and arguments to his tweets.

Thanks again.

MrsSthe3rd · 25/07/2017 16:53

Thank you for posting the links. I couldn't find them either!

Thank you for all links and yes Puzzled that would be great if you don't mind?

Why does Connie want it all to be public I wonder? I can't think of anything worse tbh

I think it's part of the crusade mindset.
The parents have decided that Charlie's life is a battle against the doctors who condemned him to death.
He's a warrior (in their words) and that is his legacy.

So everyone can see how shitty GOSH are still behaving?

The less cynical part of me says that she's still determined this is all a big conspiracy against Charlie.

The more cynical part of me says something else.

MillieMoodle · 25/07/2017 16:57

I can understand GOSHs reluctance to allow Charlie to go home. Aside from the complicated logistics, I'm not convinced Charlie's parents would allow the ventilator to be switched off when the time came and that must be a huge concern. I don't say that to discredit his parents, I just think they are just too distraught and devastated to think rationally.

For Charlie, what he knows (if anything) is his bed and surroundings at GOSH. As long as his mummy and daddy are there with him at the end, I doubt very much that he'll know or care where he is.

For his parents, I can understand their desperation. I can see that they feel that every decision has been taken out of their hands. I understand their need to take Charlie home, wash him and care for him without being in hospital. I think if they aren't allowed to take him home, something they have held onto all along, then it will make it so much more difficult for them to bear.

I hope an agreement can be reached that allows Charlie to have at least a few hours at home with his parents, and that it helps to give them some comfort and closure. I think the judge has handled this case excellently but I fear he may be forced to make an order setting out a timetable.

There are absolutely no winners in this case and my heart breaks for everyone involved, most of all for Charlie and his poor parents.

Sorry, didn't realise that it was shitty to not be willing to send your staff to a home too small for the equipment, where all the occupants have threatened them with criminal prosecution.

There's always the option of taking him home after he passes and prepare for his funeral peacefully.

Yamayo · 25/07/2017 16:59

jingle in their view GOSH are the enemy- anything they propose is shitty.

Personally I think the court statement from C & C reads like they are gearing up to attempt suing GOSH.
So maybe the more publicity for the ongoing case, the more it holds the interest of the public to support that?

New thread anyone. I am on my phone so it isn't easy to do linking.

TheNightmanCometh · 25/07/2017 17:02

I'd think that the biggest risk would be that C&C might refuse to allow the ventilation process to be ended when the agreed time comes - and then what? GOSH (or somebody) is committed to providing ongoing care for Charlie at home while the case goes back to Court to hear "evidence" from more "experts"

Bingo.

The court can't let him go to a private home and possibly not to a hospice either, because that requires some trust that the parents will respect the order, and these parents won't.

Also, they can sit late. I was in until 8 once, although that was unusual.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/07/2017 17:02

Spot on, Logical

It may weaken their case for suing if they're seen to be cooperating with GOSH at the very end.
