Grenfell Tower tragedy continued

Twelve people confirmed dead with that number expected to rise significantly.

Many others injured and distressed. People have lost relatives, friends and their homes.

250 firefighters in attendance, risking their lives in an unprecented fire and it's aftermath. Other emergency services and NHS staff working hard to help survivors.

Many questions to be answered.

Flowers to all those affected and everyone helping.

It's obviously going to be an horrendous job accounting for people .

I wonder how many people are known to have got out .And from what floors .I had read somewhere that one side of the building was slightly less badly ( rapidly ? ? ) affected .

SylviaPoe · 15/06/2017 18:24

Bloody hell, if you can look at something this tragic and try to make a political point of it... Nobody wanted this horrible sad nightmare to happen, obviously for goodness' sake!

Sad

Thierry I am so sorry :-(
This is so awful and so devastating.
I live in North Kensington, just down the road and my daughter said some children are missing from her school :-(

Dowser · 15/06/2017 18:43

Sadiq Khan seemed out of his depth

Thierry...so sorry. What an awful thing for you to have to come to terms with in such horrible circumstances.

My heart goes out to you. I lost my friend of 60 years three years ago ( we'd been friends since we were two) and I still can't believe she not here)

I've no words.

Just a terrible tragedy that could have been avoided.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 15/06/2017 18:43

I'm actually ashamed that I have been so totally unaware of the difficulties that residents of HA properties have been facing .

EmilyBiscuit · 15/06/2017 18:44

I'm so sorry for what you are going through Thierry.

We must make sure this never, ever happens again.

VickyRsuperstar · 15/06/2017 18:46

Petition to sign: Improve fire safety in tower blocks to make sure the tragedy in Grenfell Tower is never repeated.

Apologies if already posted link but I didn't read the whole thread.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 15/06/2017 18:47

like everyone else I'm by turns (and sometimes at the same time) desperately sad and totally furious that this was allowed to happen

I'm placemarking on this thread and will go back to look at the previous one as there is a wealth of information here

I think we as a country will make a choice here- to invest in our social housing, to house people PROPERLY, also to respect and reward our emergency services

...or (as I've seen already- DM, I'm looking at you) to somehow pull off a massive fucking doublethink and somehow blame the residents for this, instead of holding those responsible to account

I've lived in London since 1984 and never seen it so...idk, rapacious? So devil take the hindmost, weighted totally in favour of the haves, fuck you lot, cash to be made here

its Victorian

and fuck yeah it's political

sorry incoherent ranting
