Twelve people confirmed dead with that number expected to rise significantly.

Many others injured and distressed. People have lost relatives, friends and their homes.

250 firefighters in attendance, risking their lives in an unprecented fire and it's aftermath. Other emergency services and NHS staff working hard to help survivors.

Many questions to be answered.

Flowers to all those affected and everyone helping.

Also the £650k paid it to the top 4 people probably doesn't include dividends paid.

I know of HA directors making £300k+ a year. Meanwhile my dad has us all claiming expenses that can't be mitigated. So no my lunch isn't paid for by the HA. My dad expects, quite rightly, that I bring my lunch with me.

EngTech · 15/06/2017 17:50

My thoughts are with the families who are effected.

Priority should now go to those who have nothing bar what they stand up in.

In the fullness of time, they will find out what caused the tragedy

HelenaDove · 15/06/2017 17:51

A woman called Pilgrim Tucker on BBC News now Shes called it Grenfell a managed decline Shes talking about social housing not being maintained.

In Grenfell boilers were being installed in narrow corridors right outside front doors.

And when tenants voiced their concerns they were not only ignored They were bullied and persecuted.

How can there be non-party political point scoring? The whole point of political parties is that they represent a set of political beliefs.

It is the belief of the tories that public services should be cut due to austerity. Why would they sit down and decide to do something they are totally opposed to?

The only way you can get non party political point scoring is by not voting in parties promoting austerity in the first place.

RhythmAndStealth · 15/06/2017 17:58

Did see some one saying "Austerity is a fancy word for class war" the other day Sylvia. There's something in that.

Managed decline is the term they used for Liverpool and other Northern, post-industrial cities in the 80s isn't it Helena? Shocking.

Can anyone explain why the building is still on fire? Is the fact it's still going an indicator of anything?

OnionKnight · 15/06/2017 18:00

Did I just hear right, someone jumped with their passport in their hands?

Fucking hell.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 15/06/2017 18:01

Where, onion? I can rewind if it was the news, I'm not particularly paying attention so dunno if I missed it.

I guess it makes sense though :(

Dailystuck71 · 15/06/2017 18:02

Need, it will still be burning due to winds. The flames will smoulder for quite a while. All windows etc are blown out so wind gets in.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 15/06/2017 18:04

Seeing pictures on the news then, some of the roof seems to have fallen through on hot top floor - you can see the sky through the windows

OnionKnight · 15/06/2017 18:04

They found a body by the tower block and a passport nearby which they used to identify the body, I took it mean that the person jumped with the passport.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 15/06/2017 18:04

Hot = the. Stupid a/c

CondensedMilkSarnies · 15/06/2017 18:06

My DD has a new friend that I met the other day . She was telling me that she lived in a housing scheme for youngsters that were unable to live at home . I think it was run by Family Mosaic. She said she had to pay a monthly fee for repairs (which she did) but that any fault that she reported was never recitfied.

It's a widespread problem.

CaveMum · 15/06/2017 18:06

I saw the Police Commissioner say he won't comment on the number of people unaccounted for because they can't be accurate. He said they had 47 reports for one single person, so they need to sift through the reports to get rid of duplicates.

The first person to be named as a victim is Mohammed Alhajali, a 23 year old Syrian refugee who was studying Engineering. He fled a war zone for a better life and this is how it ends Sad

11122aa · 15/06/2017 18:06

One person who is missing was reported 46 times.

CoteDAzur · 15/06/2017 18:08

"My thoughts are with the families who are effected. Priority should now go to those who have nothing bar what they stand up in. In the fullness of time, they will find out what caused the tragedy"

I can hold more than one thought at a time in my head.

It is perfectly possible to sympathize with the victims & survivors, help them in any way we can and try to figure out how this colossal fuckup happened.

11122aa · 15/06/2017 18:09

Was the body found outside of the building. I saw that report but wasn't clear that it was found outside of the building or inside the building.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 15/06/2017 18:09

Watching BBC news - heartbreaking

OnionKnight · 15/06/2017 18:10

Warning, his last message made me cry again :(

HelenaDove · 15/06/2017 18:13

YY Rhythm i remember the same terminology being used to describe Liverpool.

Pilgrim Tucker is on Twitter btw.

mrsglowglow · 15/06/2017 18:15

Fair play want2b to your family, that is exactly how an ideal HA should be run and you do a worthwhile service.

Unfortunately the unscrupulous ruin the ideology and turn it in to a get rich scheme. How do these people sleep at night? I'd far rather be poor than have that on my conscience.

CaveMum · 15/06/2017 18:16

The BBC reporter has just said that one reason why they think they won't be able to identify everyone is because there were a lot of refugees living in the block who may not have registered with a dentist yet, so there will be no dental records to use to identify them.

HelenaDove · 15/06/2017 18:17

Ah yes...........Family Mosaic.
