Just seen this in the BBC website. His poor, poor victim

OP posts:
ColdAsIceCubes · 14/10/2016 15:11

I believe her!

BaggyCheeks · 14/10/2016 15:21

I'm so saddened by this, and I'm fucking disgusted that the judge allowed her sexual past to be used as evidence against her.

I believe her too.

Birdandsparrow · 14/10/2016 15:22

How is this possible? What is the legal reasoning? I don't understand.

Birdandsparrow · 14/10/2016 15:22

Are they claiming he thought he had consent? How is that possible?

PeppaAteMySoul · 14/10/2016 15:23

I believe her.

This is exactly why I didn't report my own experiences with an ex to the police and because of treatment like this I never will.

BaggyCheeks · 14/10/2016 15:23

birdandsparrow His defence's line was "drunk consent is still consent".

Inyournightdress · 14/10/2016 15:23

Not guilty does not mean innocent. However his supported are going to act as if he is completely exonerated.

The judges closing statement basically told the jury that drunken consent is still consent.

I pray for my daughters I really do. This world is not kind to them.

alphabook · 14/10/2016 15:25

I can't even read about it it's so upsetting. That poor woman.

I still believe her. Drunk consent is NOT consent.

LineyReborn · 14/10/2016 15:27

It's like being back in the 1970s.

Inyournightdress · 14/10/2016 15:28

Consent isn't not silence. It is not an 'if you must'. It is not coerced. Consent is enthusiastic.

Fuck you Ched Evans. Fuck. You.

IamalsoSpartacus · 14/10/2016 15:39

"It's terrifying that they can use her consensual sexual history in graphic detail in court, to be reported in the papers. Yes justice has to come first but there should be limits to admissibility for that kind of detail."

^^THIS

I'm heartbroken for her. People on twitter are already calling for her to go to prison or be 'strung up.'

So the message is that if I choose have sex with a man on Tuesday, on Wednesday another man can lie his way into my bedroom and put his penis in me and it doesn't matter if I say yes or not.

LineyReborn · 14/10/2016 15:41

Apparently according to a Guardian report, N Massey was discussed during the second trial as having potentially offered an 'inducement' to one if the new witnesses for his testimony. The judge and jury seemed to think that was ok, or maybe the jury wasn't told? It's not clear about the money.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 14/10/2016 15:44

Shocking. That poor woman must be in pieces.

LineyReborn · 14/10/2016 15:44

I have the strangest feeling that CE's evidence changed from his first trial to his second trial, btw. Hope some journalists do the comparison, and match it up to what the new 'witnesses' claimed, and when the money was offered.

EsmesBees · 14/10/2016 15:44

I believe her too.

RustyParker · 14/10/2016 15:45

I was dreading this outcome Sad Angry

The so called justice system is a joke. Rape myths have won out.

Just waiting for the onslaught of apologists and male legal bods who frequent these boards admonishing us for not embracing the Not Guilty verdict. Heaven fucking forbid we "ruin" Ched's name.

Unacceptable · 14/10/2016 15:45

Have I got this right?
Two men came forward stating they had sex with her and the same kind of positions/phrases were used. Similar to events he outlined in his police statement.
But these men did not come forward at the time.
They came forward after a £50,000 reward for information had been publicised?
Wow.
Seems very dodgy.

YvaineStormhold · 14/10/2016 15:46

I still believe her.

This is appalling.

IamalsoSpartacus · 14/10/2016 15:48

can anybody with legal knowledge comment on 'drunk consent is still consent' - I thought it wasn't, that you had to have capacity to consent and being intoxicated or unconscious rules this out.

dovesong · 14/10/2016 15:49

With rape and sexual assault cases like this, "not guilty" is so often not the same as "innocent" because guilt is so hard to prove. Devastated by this result. I believe her.

legotits · 14/10/2016 15:49

I believe his victim.

I'm sorry the legal system has added insult to injury by allowing her to be sacrificed.

If she ever changes her mind I would chuck in a few quid to crowd fund her representative.

Poor lass Sad

CatThiefKeith · 14/10/2016 15:51

This is shocking. That poor woman. I also still believe her.

myshinynewusername · 14/10/2016 16:08

I think Ched Evans and his deluded girlfriend have basically played a bunch of dirty tricks to obtain 'witnesses' to testify in this joke of a retrial.

I still believe the victim, and I'm disgusted that she is now in the position that the judicial system has basically declared her a liar.

What if Evans decides to pursue a private prosecution against her? :(
