I'm really not sure where I stand. A lot of it just sems like school girl horridness

OP posts:

No, piglit, Jade's digging it all by herself w/her stupidity.

CoozerP · 18/01/2007 10:05

Bullying and racism aside for a minute, I find it disgusting and embarrassing that we have allowed someone so uneducated and ignorant to become a role model in our society, what sort of message is that giving kids.

It also annoys me how lazy the 3 girls are. They keep bleating on about how Shilpa is used to having people do everything for her but as far as I can see she is always cooking and cleaning for other people and those 3 haven't done anything for the group, the only thing they've cooked is for themselves.

piglit · 18/01/2007 10:05

That's exactly what I mean expat! BB could warn her if they wanted to but they haven't. I think they realise everyone is enjoying watching Jade make a complete t*t of herself.

expatinscotland · 18/01/2007 10:07

And BB could also throw her out of there for her behaviour.

Monkeytrousers · 18/01/2007 10:07

That's a good point actually. Who is being strung up here? Shilpa or Jade??

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 18/01/2007 10:07

I don't understand why nobody is standing up to Jade and jumping in and defending Shilpa in an upfront way. I am not big and I'm not brave, or particularly clever, but I know without any shadow of a doubt that I could not have kept my mouth shut in a situation like that "oxo cube row".. I would have been shouting right back at Jade in defence of Shilpa. I have got myself into sticky situations before for jumping in and shooting my mouth off when I could have (perhaps should have) stayed quiet, but in this situation I wouldn't even have worried about the TV cameras (and I seriously don't want to be on TV whereas that lot clearly do!)

Why are they keeping quiet? Why are they so wary of Jade? She may get loud and angry but she doesn't shout an awful lot of sense; most people could run verbal rings around her as long as they could shout loud enough!

Caligula · 18/01/2007 10:08

CoozerP, i said this on the other thread, Jade is a wonderful role model for girls who don't want to learn anything. She's held up as proof that there's no point doing your homework, going to school, getting your A Levels, getting educated, because you can make a living by being professionally stupid. And let's face it, Jade makes a better living than anyone on this thread (I presume).

Deeply depressing.

Monkeytrousers · 18/01/2007 10:08

It's own fault though. No one is forcing her to say those things.

100PerCentCod · 18/01/2007 10:09

godo article on this int he times
they hate her cos she is pretty anoyoing so are choosing to bully by yusing race to upset her
not excusable
just predictable

Monkeytrousers · 18/01/2007 10:09

one word shiny -money

ska · 18/01/2007 10:11

as i understand it, racism (like sexism and any other 'ism')can be direct (when it's on purpose) or indirect (when it's not deliberate but still ends up being racist). Although I've only watched a little bit of this BB from what I've seen and read (in the Guardian, hopefully vaguely reliable) it's racist behaviour either way. I don't think the racist comments are anything other than deliberate even though born out of incredible ignorance and like someone says here, it's astonishing that this can be happening on TV in 2007. Sad, very sad.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 18/01/2007 10:12

Thing is Coozer, it's not so much about "allowing" her to dominate the press, it's about the media responding to what the public seem to want and giving them more. People have clearly wanted Jade to be in the public eye; I think initially it might have been sheer incredulous interest that made people want to read about her - that someone got famous for being and doing what she was and did in the house first time round.. and then possibly, a few people then probably starting admiring her determination to make something of the oppoprtunity, which you have to admit she did; the girl is very well off now! She had gone up in my estimation somewhat until the last week or so I'll admit!

TeeCee · 18/01/2007 10:12

I watched last night and think Jade just proved herself to be the ignorant, foulmouthed, agressive, nasty piece of work she is. However I still didn't see her being racist.

What I found worse was Danielle and Jo sat there giggling. It was horrible, really sick and cruel and spineless. And Danielle's suggestion that Shilpa 'go back home' was a terrible and racist thing to say.

However I do think that it's all getting a bit out of control with people burning effigies of BB bosses in the street etc and appartly there have been death threats.

Big Brother has always been a circus but this is gettign way out of hand. and I'm not watching again now.

southeastastra · 18/01/2007 10:12

the blokes in there are quite weedy though and pacifists(sp!) Jade is scary and it looked like she was going to get physical at one point.

expatinscotland · 18/01/2007 10:12

Also b/c it makes Jade look even worse when you don't shout back, just look at her like she's . . . well, psycho.

She'll be on StreetCrime UK in ten years time, being herded into the wagon.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 18/01/2007 10:13

Monkeytrousers, how do you mean? You mean the other more genuine celerities (well in some cases!) are in awe of Jade because of her money??? Surely not!

bundle · 18/01/2007 10:13

haven't watched the programme but can imagine that jade feels deeply threatened by someone who's articulate and posh, and that coupled with oldfashioned xenophobia has resulted in this gang of women bullying shilpa. C4 should know better though - surely they could mute it when this is happening, like they do for libel/taste purposes. tut tut.

TeeCee · 18/01/2007 10:13

Shiny - they are spineless lemmings that's why.

Caligula · 18/01/2007 10:13

Shiny with people like Jade the verbal rings aren't important. What she does is shout down the opposition with a level of violence which is quite frightening if you're not familiar with that behaviour on a day to day basis. People know that if they confront her, it will escalate, possibly to a physical level when the Jades of the world run out of words - and it doesn't take them long to get to that point, because as you rightly say, they don't have many words at their disposal. So everyone knows at the back of their minds that if they do confront in that situation, it could possibly get physical, or at least they will have to keep sustaining the shouting at the same level as her - which is almost impossible for anyone normal. I mean, how many of us could get quite so impassioned about a bloody stock cube? I simply couldn't keep yelling for that long, tbh.

Lizzylou · 18/01/2007 10:16

Agree, Teecee, the girls giggling last night was very disturbing. I felt really upset that noone stepped in to Shilpa's defence. Also that Jade was getting cuddles in the aftermath, people must be very scared of her in there (or have no spine/too bothered about "bad press")

kimi · 18/01/2007 10:16

I dont watch CBB or BB really but i do remember that the one jade was no she was picked on and made fun of by the other house mates.
The fact of the matter is here is a girl who was dragged up, no education, no real or decent roll models, who was so stupid she thought East Anglia was abroad, chick peas had chicken in and peacock eyes on their tails were real eyes, and all of a sudden she has a whole lot of money in the bank, fake boobs endless toyboys playing daddy to the kids she knocks out at the drop of a hat and her face and large arse on every lowrate mag, she thinks she is something better then the mouthy gutter trash she is.

I think she is in for a very rough time when she gets booted out, and the other two are just a bad, lets see claims to fame, One is from a washed up kids band and the other got on her back for a washed up football player, they are no more celeb's then i am (i had a make over on this morning once so i must qulifiy for the next CBB)

The whole thing should have the plug pulled on it.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 18/01/2007 10:18

Not saying it is necessarily the right thing to do to shout back.. and I admit Shilpa handled her fairly well in her refusal to stoop so low... but (and maybe this is saying something (derogative!) about me ) but if I had been one of those bystanders, I would have just lost it! AND at the sniggering pathetic girls Danielle and Jo. (Have lost ALL respect for Jo.. I thought she was a completely different person!) I have a temper thats till bursts forth at moments like that when I see someone being so blatantly abused; can't imagine I'm the only one...

TeeCee · 18/01/2007 10:22

It made me so sad to see them sitting behind a cushion goggling. Jade got as bad as she did (no excuse bnut...) becasue they were aggig her on. With comments like 'oh that was so funny', 'that made my day' Awful, just awful.

As Shilpa said she is in there respresenting her country, are Jade, Danielle and Jo representative of the UK?
I don't think they are, but it's not a good look. It's like Brits abroad.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 18/01/2007 10:25

No. Jade, Danielle and Jo are not representative of the average female Brits! it's times like this when I will almost entertain the concept of class divisions!

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 18/01/2007 10:33

Jade is on there talking about her kids now; I can't listen to her voice, I am switching off. It's hard to imagine her as a mother really.. and a bit scary... the thought of her kicking off like she did to Shilpa at the school gates because of some issue involving her child.. [shudder]
