With any luck, this will signal the end of the z list celebrity culture and all you aspire to it.

speedymama · 17/01/2007 10:28

all who aspire to it

BigHotMama · 17/01/2007 10:30

They are just bloody jealous of Shilpa, she is beautiful and successful and all the men in the house like & respect her. But why wont they stick up for her? Makes me sooo mad!

Vindaloo · 17/01/2007 10:32

Bighotmama - that is so true? what is it about the wimpy blokes in the house? why wont they stick up for her? maybe they are scared the witches may cast a spell on them, who knows...

TeeCee · 17/01/2007 10:32

Ignorant, bitchy, cliquey, pathetic - yes but racist no.

I think it's more ignorance and stupidity that fuel their bitchiness.

BigHotMama · 17/01/2007 10:35

Yes agree all 3 are equally as dumb and put them together and they still wouldnt match Shilpa's intelligence.

redbullandbump · 17/01/2007 10:35

i dont think its racist.

what people are forgetting is big brother choose these characters for a purpose and thats to get ratings, they knew they were going to clash.

yes what jo said was wrong, but in all honesty if some one i didnt know very well was touching my food with their fingers i wouldnt be very happy.

And the one bit of it ive seen so far was when shilpa was taking the micky out of dirks name saying how she couldnt pronounce it and what a strange name it was.

You get it with every big brother you watch their is allways one person that will get the micky taken out of last year there was ashleyne,in another big brother their was jodie marsh, and becuse shilpa is indian they are saying its racist.

I think you are giving to much credit to these people. They are on a reality game show which are not known for attracting the bright ones.

TeeCee · 17/01/2007 10:53

I don't think they are being intentionally racist. I think they don't like her and I agree with what Redbull has said actually. Last year everyone was very mean to Jodie and she got a really hard time. If she wasn't white would that then have been racist??????

TeeCee · 17/01/2007 10:55

Or they think they don't like her. They have let her irritate them and now the poor girl can't do a thing right. They have formed a clique (in the true sense of the word) and are feeding each others bitchiness and insecurities.

Caligula · 17/01/2007 10:56

Oh I agree it's not intentional racism.

Just unintentional racism. They're too thick to realise they're being racist.

SoupDragon · 17/01/2007 11:01

I think true racism has a genuine dislike/hatred behind it. I think in this case her race is simply what they've picked on to use as the basis for bullying, it's not about her race as such. They would have bullied her whatever race she was because of jealousy of all her other qualities.

Carmenere · 17/01/2007 11:02

I think that instead of Davina doing the exit interviews they should have Jeremy Paxman asking them to explain themselvesNow that would be good television.

TeeCee · 17/01/2007 11:04

"I think true racism has a genuine dislike/hatred behind it." - Agree - that is how I would describe racism.

Caligula · 17/01/2007 11:13

ROFL at the idea of Jade confronting Paxo.

UCM · 17/01/2007 11:20

I am stunned that it's such big news. A few days ago there was a programme on C4 which apparently had people in a certain religion 'inciting religeous hatred' (I only saw bits of it) and it hardly got a mention. I expected there to be a massive furore on here regarding it but someone posted and it got about 7 replies. Yet this 'CBB', which thankfully I have managed to avoid like the plague and not suffered 1 second of, has a thread running with 350 something messages. I really am absolutely astonished at this Must be getting old.

Caligula · 17/01/2007 11:21

Was it the one about the mosques UCM?

UCM · 17/01/2007 11:25

Yep, I was expecting huge debate on that here

piglit · 17/01/2007 11:26

This is just so depressing. I hate CBB but ended up watching some of it to see what all the fuss was about.

I will have a bet with you all that in 6 months time there will be a new reality tv programme about Jade going to India to live for a month etc etc. There are no limits to this repulsive reality tv and much as I'd like to think this will be the end of Jade and her ilk, I doubt it very much.

TenaLady · 17/01/2007 11:32

Been watching this closely, I am sorry to say! They have all been taking the mickey out of each others accents so I dont think they can pull the racist card on that front.

The stupid questions that Jade and her mother ask are born from ignorance, lack of education. eg do you eat with your fingers in India?

It was instigated by the two faced antics of Danielle when she purported to be good friends with Shilpa and then when Jade got involved told Shilpa that Jade and her were infact best friends.

Danielle is the poison in the ointment here and from that Shilpa's uncertainty was born.

it has got bigger and bigger as the three witches mainly started by Danielle have been moaning about everything. She wont be able to breathe soon if they have their way!

lucy5 · 17/01/2007 11:36

I don't think they are racist but are using racisim as part of their bullying but they are just too thick to realise it. I found bblb annoing ysterday with Dermot trying to smooth things over and spouting Endemol propaganda.

burstingbug · 17/01/2007 11:56

Dirk really likes Shilpa, none of the men fancy any of the other girls. I don't think they like not having 'male' attention. Shilpa looks naturally beautiful. The girls I guess seem threaten by her and want to wear her down so she cracks and hope the public will vote her out so they have more of a chance of winning.
Jermaine is the only person mentioning colour that I can see. He mentions it frquently pointing it out to Shilpa. Neither of them want to be the only coloured person in the house and said that if one goes, the other one would walk out.

TenaLady · 17/01/2007 11:58

aha bursting, that is their own insecurities. That reminds me, it was only when Jermaine mentioned colour that all this racism thing kicked off.

TwoIfBySea · 17/01/2007 12:47

You can see why Shilpa is getting picked on though.

Take a stunningly beautiful woman (not girl), smart, successful, popular. Stick her in a house with some talentless, immature and ignorant slebs and it is bound to cause bullying.

Yes, the fact they are using her ethnicity against her makes it racist. Calling someone "the Indian" is not racist, but the manner in which it is said is. I don't watch CBB, don't watch BB but I did when Jade was on it first time around.

I am surprised that no one remembers how, in BB Jade bullied and picked on another girl, who was prettier than her (doesn't take much as ugliness is from within and Jade at heart is very ugly in her character.) I was amazed that no one in the press seemed to bother at Jade's viciousness against this girl which happened for no reason. Hopefully now the public have once again seen her true nature it will be the end of Jade as a sleb and she can return to the obscurity she so deserves.
