Celebrity Big Brother: is it really racist or 'just' bullying and bitchiness?

I'm really not sure where I stand. A lot of it just sems like school girl horridness

People keep saying that as Jade is mixed race she cannot be racist, not true.
then they are saying 'well she is not having a go at Jermaine, so she can't be racist'
not true, she is obviously not going to be racist to Jermaine as she is from a mixed race background which includes relatives who are of the same 'race' as Jermaine, so that would be like putting herself down.

she is being Racist to Shilpa, as Shilpa is Indian- not like Jade and not like any of Jades relatives, so Jade sees it as okay to be like that with her, also just apologising and saying you did not mean a comment in a racist way does not undo its racist content or meaning. if that were the case people could go about racially abusing people then saying 'sorry, don't mean it in a racist way' (actually they do ) anyone of any colour can be racist, so Jades ethnicity does not mean she is not being racist, the fact that she says nothing to Jermaine just shows that she picks and chooses who she bullies - those who are not like her and her relatives.

Yes, it's out and out racism AND bullying. Racism of the most stoopid stoopid kind! Yeah speedymama, haven't these girls ever eaten a freaking sandwich???? Asking where her hand had been....purlease!!!!!!!!! BUT I think it's great that Channel 4 are still airing the show just to let all those who think racism doesn't exist in the uk anymore...

These girls are bullies of the schoolgirl variety adn clearly bored out of their brains and are picking on Shilpa cos she aint one of them (phew, taht's a relief eh???).

I thought it was funny that the sponsor pulled out because the nasty oafish behaviour that seems to be normal to BB suddenly turned racist. Didn't fit in wit the companies image. So bullying, bitching, public sex, generally unpleasant behaviour, b does fit in with the companies image?

OK...must admit I've never watched it but like everyone else it's endlessly commented on elsewhere on the media so you can't entirely miss it if you want to.

I certainly dont think you can blame Jades childhood on her behaviour. My Mum had a terrible childhood with a very abusive father, didnt make her abusive to me.

I also still dont believe that Jade is being racist, I think she would be like that with anybody with Shilpas character, black, indian, chinese or white. I think the girls feel threatened by Shilpa. Its just a huge personality clash and just because Shilpa is indian doesnt mean that you can call it racist.

However, I have to say that I think they way the girls are treating Shilpa is disgusting and they are bullying her, its like the pack culture of school.

I'm still drying my tears of laughter after watching 'Question Time'.

Haven't read the whole thread but regarding Jades childhood, you have all seen the mother. A child is a blank page when born......she didn't have a chance and it's surprising she has turned out to be canny enough to make money out of being a moron.

Just because Jade does not have the intellect or basic powers of reasoning to understand that her racial stereotyping and use of terms in such an insulting way is by very definition "racist" - it doesn?t change the impact or affect of racisim. There is no question in my mind - she has been rude, bullying and racist. Her 'innocence" and denials change non of that - just shows how ignorant and unaware she is. Why BB kept her in after those comments and didn?t immediately remove her is the real crime in this. They cannot hide behind "ignorance" as a half hearted excuse - they deliberately keep her in to "entertain" and scandalise to keep their high profile in the media.
Missed last night?s news - are they removing her and putting in new people?

i heard jack refer to shilpa as dickhead too, what a moron. they discussed it on Question Time??

I thought that too Imafairy- I don't like Davina at the best of times but if she does any of that simpering matey crap tonight I'll be incandescent. She shares an agent with Jade though, doesn't she, so I'm not hopeful. Wouldn't it be so brilliant if she came out and found Jeremy Paxman waiting for her instead?

Am not suggesting that Jade shouldn't accept responsibility, just that as far as a head start was concerned, her mother didn't seem like the sort of lady to give her much of one. I am definitely not saying 'her behaviour is acceptable because of her upbringing', just that it's probably why if that makes sense

Can I ask a really stupid question (as someone who's only seen the news clips and about 20 mins of CBB)?

Does Jade have any idea what sort of trouble she's in and how offensive she's being? Has anyone behind the scenes told her about the uproar and being dropped from her "celeb endorsements"? Or is she being left to destroy herself?

Same question applies to that little b*tch Danielle I guess.

piglit, nobody knows, but my guess is that they've had a quiet word. They are meant to be completely cut off from the outside world but they seem to have dropped hints, at the very least.

i think someone must of said something because lats face it they dont have a brain between them to work it all out for themselves.For all that jade has said that she dosent mind going home so she can see her kids,she is just trying to be nice now so she dosent get voted off,sorry jade far too late for that.
