Celebrity Big Brother: is it really racist or 'just' bullying and bitchiness?

I'm really not sure where I stand. A lot of it just sems like school girl horridness

To be all Sophable about it ( ) I do think Jade is angry all the time because she is angry - justifiably - about her appalling upbringing, which was really tantamount to child abuse. She a most horrible, frightening person now, but she was a tiny baby once. I think that's so sad. But that's my sappy mother thing coming out. Nowadays I see that image of the suicide tube bomber turning towards that mother with a baby and trying to detonate a bomb that will kill or maim them both, and I simulataneously feel anguish for the mother and child, and for the would-be killer's mother, and for the child he once was. I know that sounds crap, but that's what parenthood has done to me.

No jimjams - apologies have been made, hugs have been shared. They are both up for eviction, Jade will go harmony will be restored (I think!)

weird to think horrible people were once lovely, scrumptious, bouncing babies.

I've had the live feed on while doing some work. There have been protracted periods of birdsong while Jade, Jo, Danielle, H and Cleo talk very seriously. Cleo has just gone in to wake Shilpa, and I heard her say 'Jade' before we got more birdsong.

I have a gut feeling that as a way of getting them all to calm down/be sensible, Big Brother has told them something about the media furore in the 'real world'.

Danielle and Jo will probably carry on bitching between themselves, but they are not going to confront Shilpa as Jade has done, and will be as two-faced as ever.
I think in many ways they are worse than Jade - although they are all hideous human beings.

Interestingly there are a couple of comments that have been made about jades lips which could be deemed as racist. after all her lips are a result of her ethnicity.

the other thing is, of course, that jade has two bouncing babies of her own. if we are to accept that poor parenting has created her values and that temper, then perhaps she should accept some help so that the cycle does not continue.
remember when she and major charles ingalls (was that his name? the millionaire cheat guy) did wife swap? jeff brazier complained then, almost tearfully, that he couldn't cope with her screaming at him.

I do know what you mean Aloha. Did anyone see the Sunday Times article about her- showed one of her family photos- her aged about 5 dressed in vest and knickers and smoking a joint. It was at that stage I realised how dreadful her life had been.

Not that htat excuses any of this.

was really shocked tonight seeing danielle say to shilpa that she had disagreed with some of what both women had said, before telling jade half the story. she genuinely seemed to have forgotten that it was being filmed.

do you know what seriously pees me off.

Jack seems to have got away with an awful lot. He has used the vilest vocabulary to describe Shilpa and no-one from the production team has asked him to think about that. Even during nominations he called her a d**khead' and they all think he's 'such a lovely boy'

Aloha, fair point (several actually). tbh I know very little about Jade's childhood.

I am also a one quarter non-white and can understand her frustrations from that angle (although she is much younger than I am and ime society is more tolerant than when i was a child). Equally I didn't have an abusive/neglectful upbringing. Different to my peers yes.

But I still don't like her! I really think she believes the hype and is basically an unpleasant person.

Do you think Ch4 would go so far as to edit out/block sound on further inflammatory/controversial comments so that the heat will come off them to take action/pull the show? They don't need/want more fury from the public, the politicians, OFCOM, advertisers, etc.

i think they always block the sound when they are discussing hte actual production, even if its harmless - like when they discuss the cameras etc. But i wouldnt be surprised if they were overdoing tonight.

About jade's childhood, it's just struck me tha Jermaine Jackson didnt exactly have an idyllic childhood, and he's not angry or violent - possibly has gone a bit too far the other way.

The thing is with Jade is that she is a product of her disfunctional upbrining. She was abused to a degree as a child. Iirc her mum used to communictae thru shouting most times & was angry alot at her own background & this was projected on her childen. Jade was bullied at school & to a degree on the BB she first appeared in (yes, I know she bullied some people too).

It's no surprise that she communciates with shouting & bullying as she knows no different.

Hopefully she will do this, but she has to accept that her child hood was disfunctional & from what I had read, she doesn't think it was.

dotcotton, it is possible to go the other way too. I had a shitty childhood, I have gone the opposite to how my mother was, as I don't want my children feeling how I did. I go over board on the emotion. Hate to disagree with anyone, hate to say no. They are as much character flaws as shouting etc.

Whereas a friend who had a similar childhood has gone the way of her mother. Bullying, shouting, always in trouble at school as a young girl for shouting at teachers etc. Rejecting emotion from anyone who dares show it to her.

there are plenty of people who have had abusive upbringings and have grown up in dire circumstances and do not turn out like this.

Can't believe the next 2 celebs are AUSSIES - albeit ones that are not really known in Aus...... can't you brits find enough z list celebs oaf your own

we wont know anything about jermaine jackson until he is dead and his children tell their side of the story. or until one of them goes of the rails. being calm an collected tells you nothing about the person.

Eidsvold....I think they have run out now...all the Z listers have been in already or have been on some other 'celeb' (I use the term loosely) reality show!

And yes, plenty of poeple have had bad childhoods & come out OK, but a few haven't either. You just have to compare Jermain & Michael Jackson.
