expat i agree, this is a shameful portrayal of our country and now being watched around the globe.

Pissing about with surnames is offensive (if not racsist) I have a scottish surbname and I worked with this guy (wont tell you nationality) and he kept calling me MacTavish (not my surname or anywhere near it). My husband then phoned and he kept calling him Hamish MacTavish - not his name at all or anywhere near it). I would have done it back to him but would have thought it too rascist of me to.

lisalisa you dont have a tv?? what do you do? do you have to talk to your partner on an evening?

I've had that happen to me, too, LV , w/our surname.

And even people w/comments like, 'Oh, are you married to 'one of them'?' and 'I'll bet he's called Hamish/Angus/Stuart, etc.'

WTF.

I just hope that Shilpa wins the whole thing- that's the only way I feel we can collectively hold up our heads in India again (bit of a barmy sounding notion, I realise, but you know what I mean).

I don't get how people can ever justify behaviour like that.

I dont think that is an overstatement tamum. This is appalling. Has anyone had a look at the link to Holy Moly? The forum comments on that actually made me feel a bit sick, they're so extreme. Makes this thread look like a love in, and all of our views like wooly liberals, its scary!

actually a booky can refuse to pay out on any bet they want. sadly the fact is probably less to do with the racist element and more to do with the odds being in favour of jade winning hence them not accepting more bets. Generally a booky only stops accepting bets once the odds are so strong that it would not be in their favour to do so.
