I have absolutely no idea who Dirk is either, having never watched the A Team (despite being easily old enough )

Caligula · 18/01/2007 12:56

Yes their lack of real interest in each other's lives is bizarre.

You would think that with no films/ TV to watch adn no books, one major source of entertainment would be talking about each other's experiences/ lives.

Earlybird · 18/01/2007 12:58

Aloha - that was me wondering about why they haven't really talked to one another. Like you, one of the most scintillating aspects of the show last night was the little glimpses of their real lives - Shilpa's curfew and Jermaine's family reminiscing. I'd love to hear more of that sort of talk, and think they'd want to also....rather than endless sniping.

Aloha · 18/01/2007 12:58

I agree Blu that there will be some people who will mutter 'poor Jade and Danielle and Jo...just normal girls standing up for themselves. It's PC gone mad...' but I suspect agents, Tv producers, theatrical casting agents & magazine editors will not be amoung them.

strawberri · 18/01/2007 12:58

Jade goody, made by the public who felt sorry for her for being bullied.....leaves the publics conciousness for being a bully! Nice, may be wishful thinking though.

One too many strawberryis on mn... gonna change name now.......

cuppa · 18/01/2007 12:59

I saw a couple of minutes last night. TBH I wasn't expecting to see anything, that all the complaints had been made so it would have stopped, or that it was a couple of passing comments, 2 minutes in a 1 hour show. I couldn't believe, it was the full 15 minutes (all I could stand to watch) was Jade and her croney yelling abuse and going on and on and on at & about her.

She (Jade) really was exactly like the bullying 'fat fighters' leader of little Britain. Shilpa said something, obv. with accent, but was totally clear, but Jade was 'you what' 'eh?' etc loads of times, getting her to repeat it before she finally 'got it'. It was a real parody of LB.

I really hope that their appalling behaviour does not go unpunished.

And was I hallucinating, that Danielle asked Jade, when she was wondering why the bloke had gone into the diary room & they suggested maybe it was to write the shopping list, did I hallucinate it when she asked Jade ?Can he read?'??????? It really is another worl these people live in.

Aloha · 18/01/2007 13:00

Jermaine's quite a good talker on this show, isn't he? I'd like to hear him talking about his life. I am told by those who have met him that he's really quite bonkers, which goes to show what a madhouse BB is, because he seems radiantly sane to me.

Aloha · 18/01/2007 13:01

God yes, Jade Goody IS Majorie Dawes

mytwocents · 18/01/2007 13:03

She did ask Jade could Jack read, pmsl

Fubsy · 18/01/2007 13:07

jade is just thick as sh!t in the neck of a bottle. Sadly she and her attitudes are representative of an awful lot of people worldwide, who cant recognise themselves for the hypocrites they are.

What I want to know is - Who's looking after her child while her whole thick family are ecking themselves in the BB House?

Im feeling angry today.

cuppa · 18/01/2007 13:08

that's it, Aloha, Majorie Dawes. SHe even looks not too dissimilar!

I'm glad you heard that too mytwocents, I thought I must be dreaming. How weird.

yentil · 18/01/2007 13:08

IS IT ME OR ARE PEOPLE SCARED TO USE THE WORD RACIST THESE DAYS?

sorry didn't mean to be in caps.....

what i mean is, i have heard, bullying, bitchiness, cultural differences but the reality is they are just downright racists[Angry]. and what shocks me is that in 2007 it is okay for racism to be shown of national televsion for entertainment purposes.

what hope is there for my child (who is black) when her non-black peers see that its okay to hate black people and be horrible to them and put them down and most of all its televised (in what is mean't to be a very liberal country) and therefore must be okay.

HAVEN'T WE GOT ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH WITHOUT BEING DRAGGED BACK TO THE THE DAYS WHEN OUR PARENT ARRIVED AND WERE SPAT ON IN THE STREETS.

that was mean't to be in caps.

Blu · 18/01/2007 13:08

And Jade did look a little testy when she replied 'yes, he can read'. I was PMSL that Danielle asked that.
But can you imagine the furore had Shilpa asked if Jack could read????

donnie · 18/01/2007 13:10

racist asbo imbeciles IMO. Let us hope they are utterly finished.

welshmum · 18/01/2007 13:11

So it will be Shilpa v Jade in the evicition race on Friday night.
Who else will vote for the first time ever?

Jimjams2 · 18/01/2007 13:12

I haven't watched a great deal, but found what I have seen pretty repellant. Talked about it with dh and we thought it signified a deep dislike of difference that must exist in certain quarters. Thought it represents a kind of institutional deep racism that must exist in parts of British culture. It's quite uncomfortable to know that that is inngrained in some.

TBH I've found the most shocking aspect not to be the bullying (that seems to happen in BB), it's the complete lack of interest they've shown in another culture. I spent 4 years teaching a lot of Asian students (and Persian- still have a lovely rug from Iran in ds2's room- courtesy of a student, Kenyan etc) and found just chatting about the expectations of their families etc fascinating. My aunt and uncle lived in India for a number of years, and when we met we would talk about their life there. It's interesting! My Japanese friend's sister lives in India- she talks about it to me, again it's interesting. I find the absence of that interest just weird.

Aloha · 18/01/2007 13:13

Missed the reading comment! Very funny. But you know, I wouldn't be at all sure that he could. He is scarily dim.
I think Jade's children will be with their father, who seems slightly less frighteningly volatile than Jade. You feel for them, don't you?

JoolsToo · 18/01/2007 13:14

Its Shilpa Jade and Dirk

Aloha · 18/01/2007 13:14

Is that confirmed Welshmum? Blimey, they'll make so much money they might even be able to afford a real celebrity for the next series.

Earlybird · 18/01/2007 13:15

Completely agree Jimjams. I made the same observation somewhere way down this lengthy thread!

Forgive my ignorance, but do you vote for who you want evicted, or who you want saved?

JoolsToo · 18/01/2007 13:16

nominations haven't been revealed yet officially. The Sun and others are saying 3 are up Jade, Shilpa and Dirk

welshmum · 18/01/2007 13:16

Ah, didn't hear that Dirk was up for eviction too. Don't know how it works, do you vote to get someone out or keep someone in?
