I'd rather farmers stuck to the traditional method of spreading manure on their fields than used nitrate fertilisers which pollute the water. Amazing that agribusiness uses manure as a critism of organic farming. FGS!

Haven't worked my way through the whole thread so apologies if this is repetition, but the conventional farming industry used the 'it isn't any better for you line' for ages before anyone actually found out organic milk contains far more omega 3 - a key nutrient the British population is low in. It's not yet proven but I suspect other organic produce probably contains other benefits that just haven't been researched yet.

Whatever, organic is certainly far better for the environment and for animal welfare.

i remember getting a terrible shock when i saw Auntie whatsername on Come Outside smiling happily at a sewage station and singing a song about spreading human shit on the fields. Cow shit i can handle. Human shit on my vegetables i can't. But she wasn't talking about organic food, and hey that programme must have been in 1989 or something , so presumably all veg have a chance of being human poo covered.
