That's just it vertigo . I've been thinking about what would happen if women in the UK were advised not to go out alone. As a LP how would I get to work? Get my kids to school? get to the shops? It would be an economical disaster.

DespicableBee · 13/01/2016 10:34

I feel like we are making progress, we would make more if everyone ignored Emily
Last night we ignored her and she left........?although twisted joined shortly after 😕

Pinkchampchoccies · 13/01/2016 10:35

"MNHQ contacted the bbc , I wonder if that's behind the end of silence?"

Did they?

gleegeek · 13/01/2016 10:40

Longwayround that's a really interesting article - there's an English translation so well worth a read.

VertigoNun · 13/01/2016 10:40

I linked the thread, they contacted BBC and Guardian and called them on the silence and misogyny.

Talk political speech, they care a LOT about the economy.

Pinkchampchoccies · 13/01/2016 10:42

oh, thanks i'll look it up. Thread moving fast. I agree with "I feel like we are making progress"

HelpTheAnimalsFirst · 13/01/2016 10:43

BigChoc Yes, it must be a relief for some immigrant muslim women when they come to the West. For the first time perhaps they see that there is another way to live.

HelpTheAnimalsFirst · 13/01/2016 10:45

Inkata: Okay back on track.

HelpTheAnimalsFirst · 13/01/2016 10:46

emily I told you yesterday, you dont know who I am, what I know or what I do.

DespicableBee · 13/01/2016 10:48

I've emailed Mr Davis MP
Asked him about the new foreign office advice to women travelling to Germany
Why isn't cologne etc being discussed in parliament

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 13/01/2016 10:50

IPost I was moved by your post.

I posted a very personal family story earlier. (We were at epigenetics at that point!) It provoked a lot of emotion in me to go into it. It was ignored.

Just to say I hear you. Which is to me the point of my Mumsnet reading and posting.

VertigoNun · 13/01/2016 10:52

PMQT today , I think. Hopefully it will be discussed. Mr Davies may be preparing a Q.

emilybohemia · 13/01/2016 10:52

I don't think you said that, Helptheanimals, but it seems a bit odd to allege that. I'm not sure why you claim that you are supposedly looking at someone's posting on other forms of media that is a mumsnetter, or why you would want to do that if it were indeed possible. I think it suggests a very peculiar over investment in a mumsnet debate!

DespicableBee · 13/01/2016 10:52

Does anyone know much about how mps can only act on behalf of their own constituents?
I females my own MP, no response as yet, I also emailed another MP, a female, in my city, she just said she couldn't deal with my query because I didn't live in her area, its about two miles away

HelpTheAnimalsFirst · 13/01/2016 10:53

The problem is, everyone, that we as women are already self-curbing (if that is the correct word), esp. those in mainland Europe. That this type of attack may happen in UK is causing us to postpone visits and activities, because it is known that the "success" of the attacks will cause taharrush to come to UK. I think we agreed that this is non-ethnic European men's way of forcing us to make changes - however slowly - to our habits, dress and behaviour.

VertigoNun · 13/01/2016 10:54

If they have a personal interest or are collecting other information to back up a constituant issue.

'German women are more likely than men to oppose the current level of migration, which had not previously been the case, and the New Year’s Eve sexual assaults are believed to be the main reason for a 12-point jump.'

HelpTheAnimalsFirst · 13/01/2016 10:55

emily Actually you are right - I said that to your mate Twisted. And it's my overinvestment.

ItsJustaUsername · 13/01/2016 10:58

This article is good. Short and concise but on point.
thefederalist.com/2016/01/11/in-europe-muslim-extremists-turn-to-sexual-terrorism/

I think I've just learnt how to c&p and do clicky links on my phone.

LumelaMme · 13/01/2016 10:58

I read that post, Sonya - bombed house, right? Your dad? If so, it wasn't ignored. I almost posted in response about my own family's war experiences. I really agreed with what you had to say. I grew up in the shadow of immense trauma (just one example: my father's aunt and uncle were victims of a massacre). It affected how I see the world. It made me want to make it a better place.

iPost, another great post.
I emailed the David Davies chappie. (NB, Not David Davis who is a different Tory MP altogether).

So much for my vow to stay off the thread today.

DespicableBee · 13/01/2016 11:02

'Until recently, women in Morocco (the most progressive Muslim state) couldn’t travel without permission from their father or a male relative, and courts often forced rape victims to marry their rapist'

VertigoNun · 13/01/2016 11:03

Yes PMQT seems to be on bbc parliament. I hope JC is going to read one of our questions, on the safety of Women.

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 13/01/2016 11:04

Followed by running away fromm abuse at children's home.
I don't go there that often.

If I thought I could really help one 10 year old as my dear dad was then I would. Empathy however shouldn't make idiots of us.

emilybohemia · 13/01/2016 11:05

The fact is helptheanimals, I don't want or need to know 'who you are', however much I disagree with you.
