Will- I don't think that there are many wonderful posts on here. I find Emily's posts a massive relief and think she has managed to keep going calmly and honourably to stand up to paranoia based prejudice.

The fact that some of you have turned that paranoia on to us is just an amazing example of how crazy and baseless your way of seeing people can be. No evidence needed, just write people off.

I am not bothered about the treatment of us, at least for me, it doesn't really matter. But this kind of paranoid thinking about outsiders, does really matter when it comes to generalisations and assumptions- even treatment when it comes to not speaking to a woman because of what she s wearing- about whole groups of vulnerable people.

Sorry, folks, I'm giving up, at least for a day or two.

The thread has been endlessly deflected from what was a largely serious and sensible discussion by a couple of stubborn people who are 100% certain that they are right. We were talking a women's rights campaign, remember? About reminding our government that women matter and asking them to raise this issue, rather than colluding in a cover-up because it was politically uncomfortable. We were talking about how gender discrimination in some countries reminded us about racial discrimination and apartheid.

We've let them deflect us. I've wasted too much time here already.

If you want to try and police tone the thread without actually addressing any answers, then go and be the PeNgU1N oF d00m somewhere else.

Hidden twisted already said that she is worried for the mental health of people on here and that perhaps they need to "talk to someone in real life". Gaslighting at it's finest. It was after that I stopped reading her posts.

One woman saying violence against women happens everywhere , culture race etc irrelevant. Other bravely saying we need to recognise origins of attackers and take a more nuanced approach, including speaking to experts on Middle East sexual violence.
