Can we have a breakdown from posters as to where they are with MP/MEP letters, lobbying, Social media campaign, Complaints to the Guardian/BBC etc?

I've sent an MP letter. Would like to send a BBC letter. I posted on FB several days back and was ignored by all but a Dutch/Austrian male friend in North Carolina. At least he was supportive.

www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/contact_us/making_a_complaint.html

Great, I hope you get a speedy response.

I've emailed my MP and all my MEPs.
I don't know enough about how the BBC coverage flowed to feel competent to write a complaint, even though I haven't been happy with what I've seen of it.
I packed in reading the Graun many years ago (far too busy gazing at its own metropolitan navel*)

That's the extend of my contribution to the 'hysteria'.

*caveat: I have nothing against Londoners. But the Graun rarely seemed to lift its eyes to the far rural horizon.

Thanks for the link vertigo!

LumelaMme · 11/01/2016 12:31

Oh, yeah, I posted on FB too, both a long spiel about my concerns and that I had written. Quite a lot of likes and positive comments from my (far from huge) FB list.

LongWayRound · 11/01/2016 12:40

The Guardian has posted a link to the article by Doris Akrap ("Germany’s welcome for refugees has to survive the Cologne attacks") to their FB page, if anyone wants to go along there and post a comment about their coverage... Though tbh the discussion looks too polarised for sensible comments to get much attention :(

I posted on FB, most of my friends are international rather than UK-based. I had support from a gay friend in Germany who was there on NYE, and otherwise it's been weak.

I'm writing a list of quantifiable requests to my MP and MEP.

Still thinking along the lines of:
Women and children and elderly, direct from camps not those who have encouraged traffickers by paying them.
Education for any and all male immigrants about the rights of women here (link to Norway experience and have approached Belgian contact for information on their hey recent programme)
Transparency on the vetting and screening of young single males claiming refugee or asylum status
Written commitment to uphold and promote women's rights

Emailed Women's Hour.

Finally, am not interested in debating the silly semantics that threatened to derail these threads.

I know who and what I am and have no need to justify my opinions and actions to anyone who attempts, whatever their agenda, to skew this debate.

I will not be responding to posters who remind me of O'Brien in 1984.

Just marking my place to keep up with things.

LieselMeminger · 11/01/2016 12:48

Just marking place.

I'm sending my emails this afternoon.
I'll email the BBC and also the guardian if anyone could pm what they have sent, or a gist of what I should say.

DespicableBee · 11/01/2016 12:52

I've emailed my MP,
I agree we should be taking women and children refugees

DespicableBee · 11/01/2016 13:04

It's on lose women

CalmYoBadSelf · 11/01/2016 13:11

Very brief discussion on Loose Women but at least it is getting out into open discussion a bit

BungoWomble · 11/01/2016 13:16

Found new thread, ta!

Finally www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-35280386 - "Cologne attackers were migrant men"

It's kinf of taken the wind out of my sails, I was drafting an email to the BBC complaining. Or has it. I like David Bowie, but they have a 'Live' reporting on his death and not on this??

Marking my place for now.

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 11/01/2016 13:30

Olivepip I was about to email my MP (I know they notice volume so I figured even if my quality of argument was not too great it was worthwhile. )

Your list is helpful to me as some of my concerns are similar.

I believe the Guardian is beyond help!
