The recent articles of accounts of rape/sexual assaults, attempted rare and sexual assaults are frightening.

www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jan/06/tensions-rise-in-germany-over-handling-of-mass-sexual-assaults-in-cologne
This is a better article by the guardian, abit more balanced

HelpTheAnimalsFirst · 12/01/2016 17:39

hefzi "I'm really shocked by what some of you are posting concerning your children's experiences."

The infrastructure is crumbling due simply to the huge increase in population from overseas in a very short space of time.

Women cannot book a date for delivery because the service is overstretched; school places reasonably close to home are given to children of the recently-arrived because it is felt that as most of their mothers do not drive, local places should go to their kids; housing is prioritised to immigrants because they have children; just last month (up north somewhere?) a policeman told a householder to keep her Xmas decorations to a minimum, in case it upset her next door neighbours, a Muslim family; housing is at breaking point.
Those immigrants who have a council house or flat are moving in with other family members (similarly housed) and illegally subletting theirs for a tidy sum. You couldn't make it up!

Helptheanimals

'I don't know if Orban is fascist, certainly not from his public statements (Claig's post). But what I would say is that those non-ethnically European men who sexually attacked in Cologne and so many other cities are Islamofascists'.

He is a fascist.

'He did not deny aid and food'.

He did deny aid and food. It was left to mostly volountary organisations to provide help and assistance and shelter. He refused help from the UN, despite knowing the refugees would be coming.

'I think Hungary was ill-prepared for so many people, but some of those migrants threw their packets of food at the police when they saw that the packets had the Red Cross symbol'.

He wasn't unprepared, far from it, but he prepared by spending a heck of a lot of cash on anti refugee and migrant propaganda, such as posters stating refugees were coming to steal Hungarian jobs. That is what Viktor did instead of spending money on providing food and shelter to people fleeing war, the majority of which did not wanttosettle in Hungary but merely need to pass through to reach other parts of Europe.

'I think Hungary was ill-prepared for so many people, but some of those migrants threw their packets of food at the police when they saw that the packets had the Red Cross symbol'.

The refugees were taken on train, without telling them where they were going. They thought they were maybe being taken on the route to continue to Austria. However, when they discovered that they were being taken to be detained in camps, they were angry and frightened and someprotested by throwing bottles of water on the train track. How sad that that was theironlymeans of protesting and how frightened they must have been. They didn't become violent or aggressive or hurt anyone, they threw some water.

'And by the way, I have never had a problem with a Hungarian man getting over-friendly with me or groping me'.

Relevance? Do you mean Hungarian men are never sexually aggressive? I am sure some are.

'It's called boundaries, Mr Emily'.

I must be a man because I disagree with you?

'Whereas I've had plenty of unsolicited and quite disgusting approaches - always from Muslim men in my area of London; not Hindus, Sikhs, Africans or anyone else who is not ethnically European'.

What does this mean? That your experience shows that disgusting approaches or attacks on women in public are mostly by Muslim men? It is not my experience. That is vile racism and nothing else.

DespicableBee · 12/01/2016 17:42

The only politician I've heard talk about this stuff is garage
Why aren't labour, conservative saying anything???

DespicableBee · 12/01/2016 17:43

Farage 😀

Justanotherlurker · 12/01/2016 17:44

DespicalBee, that article is from the 7th of Jan

And this quote

“There’s no evidence that we’re dealing here with people who are refugees,” s

Has unfortunetly been proven to be false

VertigoNun · 12/01/2016 17:45

SNP have commented too. Nothing from LG or Green either.

Emily, I have it from a horse's mouth that the reason some of the migrants threw their food packets is because it had a Red Cross symbol. I believe my source better than I believe you.

And as regards dismissing my own experiences and observations, I think THAT is disgusting

claig · 12/01/2016 17:46

'Why aren't labour, conservative saying anything???'

They can't because they are politically correct and they know that if they deviate from the correct line then their bosses won't bear them in mind for future promotion up the ladder.

constance no on thread 2 I think maybe Emily said something about sexual assaults at the Oktoberfest and her first link was to the rape of a UK male which took place a couple of years ago - I can find the story but nowhere a description of his attackers ...
but I guess it is the story in English language papers so a description would be less helpful... but it just seemed a bit odd.

emilybohemia · 12/01/2016 17:49

Helptheanimals, The infrastructure is crumbling because of the Tory government, not because of immigrants.

Housing is not prioritised to immigrants, you are repeating blatantly racist myths.

You said, ' just last month (up north somewhere?) a policeman told a householder to keep her Xmas decorations to a minimum, in case it upset her next door neighbours, a Muslim family';

Noone has banned Christmas. 'Someone up north' doesn't sound a terribly credible account.

'housing is at breaking point'. This is because of the Tory government and their cuts to public services. It is not the fault, nor the responsibility, of immigrants.

'Those immigrants who have a council house or flat are moving in with other family members (similarly housed) and illegally subletting theirs for a tidy sum. You couldn't make it up!'

A tidy sum? How? You could make it up, because you have, as many racists do, racist nonsense myths to direct hate at a group of people.

emilybohemia · 12/01/2016 17:55

Helptheanimals,

'And as regards dismissing my own experiences and observations, I think THAT is disgusting.'

I didn't dismiss your experiences, I said they were no foundation for saying Muslims are more likely to commit sexual assault or make disgusting advances than white Europeans or the other groups you referred to.

Constancegardner · 12/01/2016 17:55

Unlucky, yes, I remember now.
Re our politicians deafening silence, one would almost think they lacked any moral courage. One would almost think that they didn't care about what happened, it's all very well saying we're not sure what happened and will wait until facts are clear but they seem to not even be saying such things/platitudes.

Very poor.
Just switched the news off, again, really, so what if two people are getting married?

DespicableBee · 12/01/2016 17:57

I meant the bit in the article where they talked about the masculinity of Muslim culture

VertigoNun · 12/01/2016 17:59

Female sacrificing.

Emily, My responses are in bold.

"Helptheanimals, The infrastructure is crumbling because of the Tory government, not because of immigrants.

Housing is not prioritised to immigrants, you are repeating blatantly racist myths. Housing is prioritsed to immigrants simply because of the way the points system works.

You said, ' just last month (up north somewhere?) a policeman told a householder to keep her Xmas decorations to a minimum, in case it upset her next door neighbours, a Muslim family'; This was in the newspaper and therefore in the public domain. I mentioned it to illustrate how we are being encouraged to adjust ourselves.

'housing is at breaking point'. This is because of the Tory government and their cuts to public services. It is not the fault, nor the responsibility, of immigrants.
At breaking point BECAUSE of immigrantion.

'Those immigrants who have a council house or flat are moving in with other family members (similarly housed) and illegally subletting theirs for a tidy sum. This is one of the cases I worked on myself. It was found out and the family living their illegally evicted, and the one renting it out illegally lost a council house.

A tidy sum? How? You could make it up, because you have, as many racists do, racist nonsense myths to direct hate at a group of people. That is what you are trying to portray me as. But you don't know who I am, what I know, what kind of work I do. Everything I have stated is accurate.

DespicableBee · 12/01/2016 18:01

“For a long time it was taboo, but we must grapple with masculinity norms that legitimise violence in Muslim culture,”
This bit in the guardian article, plus the fact it mentions tahir in Egypt and also English sex grooming gangs

Justanotherlurker · 12/01/2016 18:04

Ok, sorry despicable bee, trying to catch up on the thread

hiddenhome2 · 12/01/2016 18:08

Do any of you have kids who are going to Europe on school trips?

I don't think I'm going to allow ds2 to go Sad

emilybohemia · 12/01/2016 18:10

Helptheanimals, even if it was in the newspaper, which I suspect it wasn't, what is the relevance to the attacks on women? Or to anything? What are you trying to say? Christmas is celebrated without being stopped by anyone. Some Muslims enjoy it too. The Muslims have their festivals and don't stop anyone having theirs.

You are repeating myths about housing being prioritised to immigrants. You are actually repeating myths spread by far right groups like the BNP. Here is an article about it. www.theguardian.com/politics/2009/jul/07/social-housing-immigration-bnp

If housing is at breaking point it is because of the givernment. Immigrants do not make government policy.

Subletting is not confined to one ethnic group.

VertigoNun · 12/01/2016 18:10

Would you allow your child stay with the Duggars? The politicians, police and press are the same.

OP posts:
DespicableBee · 12/01/2016 18:12

Interesting how police in Dusseldorf have identified 2000 suspects of North African origin in connection with organized theft, some involving sexual assults
