Constance, the great and the good want divide and rule, they want to strip the rights and liberties of the people, they want austerity and they want to prevent any popular opposition to their plans.

That is why we have seen the rise of populist parties to resist what is hapening, and that is why the entire establishment and controlled media are all united against Trump who is not politically correct and dares to say that he will end the Middle East wars where our allies back the Jihadis and Isis against a secular Syrian government which has led to millions of refugees coming to Europe.

If you still believe what Hillary Clinton says about women

“Why extremists always focus on women remains a mystery to me,” U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said:

"But they all seem to. It doesn’t matter what country they’re in or what religion they claim. They want to control women.”

you need to listen to Trump in America. he has just started telling the public about Bill Clinton and there is much, much more that he is going to say about it and about Hillary.

If Trump wins, all policies will be changed and things in Europe will change, if he loses, then we will get more of the same and probably worse.

Interesting that Erdogan is already claiming that Istanbul's suicide bombing was carried out by a Syrian - clearly already has his eyes on more European money!

Meanwhile in Britain, more is coming out about the Islamic preacher who toured British universities discussing the Qu'ranic basis for men hitting their wives, polygamy, and sex slavery

Constancegardner · 12/01/2016 13:09

Lumela, yes me too re wildlife, the environment. The ultimate innocents in the anthropocene.

Constancegardner · 12/01/2016 13:11

Erdogan = deeply worrying

hefzi · 12/01/2016 13:11

hidden one of the reasons fracking is being pushed is to end oil dependency: but people in the UK seem overwhleming opposed to it - I don't know enough about the science to know whether this is just NIMBYism, but it fascinates me that AOPEC first used the oil weapon in 1973, before I was born: and yet, we still have done very little to reduce our reliance on it.

So the German government is paying three companies to police comments on the internet, having struck an unprecedented deal with Google, Twitter and Facebook to delete hate speech.

MamaMary

"authorities, meanwhile, have reached a deal with Facebook, Google and Twitter to get tougher on offensive content, with the outlets agreeing to apply domestic laws, rather than their own corporate policies, to reviews of posts.

Critics call it the enforcement of political correctness, raising the question of what constitutes hate speech and sparking a national debate over free expression.

Germans have been outraged, for instance, by reports of more than 100 sexual assaults and robberies in the city of Cologne allegedly committed by gangs of young Arab and North African men on New Year’s Eve. Some Germans are questioning whether their online comments could be taken down, or whether they could be charged with incitement, for publicly pondering whether refugees could have been among the assailants."

iPost "I was pleased to see that there is an ongoing inquiry and I hope that lessons will be learned."

Your MP should be shot for using that lessons phrase!

Westerners will end up living in a replica of Soviet Block reality, where they can only really talk freely in the confines of their house to trusted like-minded friends. Public spaces and outlets will be strictly controlled. So sad to see the western values being slowly but surely eroded. I can't believe this is happening

Justwondering I am every bit as horrified as you are.

hefzi · 12/01/2016 13:18

What's even more worrying, I think, is that we ourselves are colluding with this erosion of free speech, by self-censoring: that's why I think this thread is so important, as it shows that there are still some spaces where people will speak freely about uncomfortable subjects, even if that's no longer possible for our politicians.

Constancegardner · 12/01/2016 13:19

Hefzi, yes we are too reliant on oil, like giant babies on a giant dummy we never learn or are prepared to pay the non economic price.

Cameron and co to say the least, are unsupportive of renewables, and yet support, with our money and with the dismantling of regulations, a potentially dangerous technology which could well pollute our water and soil.
We are supposed to believe them when they say it is safe and we need it. People who say otherwise or ask probing questions are demonised and marginalised. Remind you of recent events?

GraceKellysLeftArm · 12/01/2016 13:21

Yu wrt "pyramid scheme". We bring more in to support an ageing population, they age, we bring more in...

Pinkchampchoccies · 12/01/2016 13:23

"Facebook, Google and Twitter have agreed a deal with Germany under which they will remove hate speech posted on their websites within 24 hours."

Does this include removing misogynist hate speech???

HelpTheAnimalsFirst · 12/01/2016 13:24

Meph: "Oil oil oil. And who gets it cheapest."

And Germany knows that once the migrants have their Leave to Remain documents they will start drifting over here to UK.

SonyaAtTheSamovar · 12/01/2016 13:25

And productivity and gdp per person seems to go down in UK model.

I don't understand the economic benefits to anyone not running a company!

Sorry for Derail.

MephistophelesApprentice · 12/01/2016 13:25

Germany censors internet to avoid fascism. That's hilarious.

Pinkchampchoccies · 12/01/2016 13:25

"Yu wrt "pyramid scheme". We bring more in to support an ageing population, they age, we bring more in..'
Good point.

MrWriter · 12/01/2016 13:27

As others have said I'm glad there was a little bit of humour injected in to this thread, cause although this is a serious topic, humour is what mn is all about.

another excellent post, thank you and thank you Mistress Mia, like so many many others on here I rejoice when I see you have come to a thread to offer your contributions.

Olivepip59 · 12/01/2016 13:28

colluding with this erosion of free speech, by self-censoring

Absolutely.

My friend was accused of racism by her teenaged DD this week when she tried to discuss Cologne with her. Her DD said she should be 'nicer to refugees' and 'try harder to understand other cultures.' (My friend is South American married to a Brit).

They had, apparently 'already done it in PHSE.'

Anyone else's children sharing or discussing their views? Are your schools debating Cologne or indeed women's rights and the future thereof?

TheOldMonkey · 12/01/2016 13:30

The Daily Mail is reporting on Taharrush and the rape of Lara Logan on it's lead story online!

MephistophelesApprentice · 12/01/2016 13:31

Germany knows that once the migrants have their Leave to Remain documents they will start drifting over here to UK.

Which is why Merkel's actions were unacceptable; She unilaterally committed other countries to eventually accepting this unprecedented migration via EU law.

I was pro-EU, because I thought that no EU leader would be so grossly incompetent as to do something like this. Now, I'm not so sure.

MamaMary · 12/01/2016 13:31

Does this include removing misogynist hate speech???

No, Pink, only 'hate speech' against refugees and migrants will be censored, not hate speech against women.

Hatred of women is acceptable and can be freely expressed: hatred of foreigners is not and cannot be expressed.

WillBeatJanuaryBlues · 12/01/2016 13:32

The incidents sort of beg the question, why do this? If they are refugees, why draw attention to themselves in this way?I think (at the unconscious level) what these young men are engaging in is a process which might be called "sounding out the enemy." They are deliberately behaving outrageously just to see what they can get away with

many of them are not true refugees.

VertigoNun · 12/01/2016 13:33

I got the feeling that the Webchat response was handed down from SNP HQ.
