The reports of attacks on Women in NYE, are in their hundreds.Sad

MamaMary · 12/01/2016 11:42

Have emailed Corbyn a question on this for PM Question Time.

Meanwhile, Women's Hour on Radio 4 this morning was extremely concerned about the plight of the bisexual and gender fluid community, and about how women with young children will find the time to exercise. Confused

Pinkchampchoccies · 12/01/2016 11:44

Bomb blast in Istanbul, several dad Sad.

"Germany's foreign ministry is investigating reports that German citizens have been hurt in the blast, German media reported."

Pinkchampchoccies · 12/01/2016 11:44

*dad? dead

Constancegardner · 12/01/2016 11:45

Yes, Mama, the irony. Will we still be doing the things WH discusses and we nowadays take for granted in the future? What will life be like in the next decade?

fourmummy · 12/01/2016 11:48

Pnk Succinct and to the point
Sadly, I don't think that anyone will be able to challenge the islamist aspect of gender-based violence without being silenced, ridiculed or without loosing their credibility by being labelled a racist. It's what Claig has been saying all along. The political correctness where immigrants, especially Muslims are concerned forbids us to challenge anything Muslims do in the West. That's it

Is it only political correctness or other things too?

I think this is because the interests of Islam in Europe are promoted by some very powerful people, not only in this country but overseas
Yes, but what are these intersecting interests? That's the piece of the puzzle that's missing for me.

Frankfurterwuerstchen · 12/01/2016 11:49

I am sickened to think of the restrictions my daughter will have on her life which I didn't have on mine as a teenager.

iPost · 12/01/2016 11:50

I have an admittedly very irrational fear of Biometrics.

Right now if somebody nicks my ID card all I face is the mind numbing, rubber stamp in quadruplet, queue of hell packed with people who wouldn't know how to queue if their life depended on it, "getting a new one" process.

But thanks to Hollywood I worry that people might start chopping off my fingers and plucking out my eyes if they need bits of me to make my stolen ID card useful.

Constancegardner · 12/01/2016 11:51

Do you think it's inevitable Frank?

Pinkchampchoccies · 12/01/2016 11:51

"Yes, but what are these intersecting interests? That's the piece of the puzzle that's missing for me."

Yes, for me too. Very much so.

OP posts:
Pinkchampchoccies · 12/01/2016 11:58

The rampage sounds awful, violent, who knows what these ugly skinheads rightwing extremists are capable of? Revenge rape?

Well, disgustingly, German and European politicians will be forced to respond to these disgusting rightwing attacks, they will not be able to ignore them. Whilst they are perfectly willing to ignore women's voices.

Frankfurterwuerstchen · 12/01/2016 11:59

Ah, and did the Daily Fail also report that it was the whole of the town centre that was smashed up or did they just concentrate on the destruction of kebab shops and ethnic restaurants? Pegida/Legida supporters destroyed the windows of all shops in the main street, thus destroying businesses belonging to people of many nationalities including native Germans. What a great thing to do.

Constancegardner · 12/01/2016 12:00

The trouble with trying to make links is that you feel and seem paranoid.
Check out Mr Ethical aka nicholaswilson.com for a tangled web of banking,BBC, political intrigue and how bodies meant to regulate and protect do nothing or sometimes collude in the mess. Off topic, possibly

Response from the MP on the webchat

....^Hi Geeklove

I don't think anyone can disagree on the horrific nature of the attacks and my sympathies are with all the victims.

It's important to remember that we must differentiate between immigrants and criminals and we shouldn't tar all immigrants or refugees with the same brush.

Nor should we place any burden of responsibility on the victims or on women in general to 'keep men at arm's length' or anything of the sort. I think these facts should be kept in mind by not just the electorate but by politicians and media outlets also.

As you've pointed out, misogynists exist in all race groups and in all sections of society - the best way to combat any discriminatory views is through education.

I was pleased to see that there is an ongoing inquiry and I hope that lessons will be learned.

....

Constancegardner · 12/01/2016 12:05

The French police at the weekend, managed to find the time from looking for potential terrorists and actual criminals, to tear gas and water cannon a demonstration of people who do not want to be evicted from their homes and farms in the Loire valley to make way for an international airport.

No shortage of resources when acting on behalf of big business?

iPost · 12/01/2016 12:11

My non Uk, non English speaking press is reporting headlines of 9 German tourists killed in a terrorist attack in IStanbul.

claig · 12/01/2016 12:16

Biometric ID cards and removal of liberties is what the ruling class and their puppet politicians want - New Labour etc.

What we need is liberty, freedom of expression and movement and common sense. Political correctness is a tool used by the great and the good to make certain topics off limits for debate. For freedom, we need free debate where ideas can be challenged from all sides without calling anyone names.

Divide and rule is what the great and the good use to strip the liberties of ordinary people. I think Pegida is a controlled tool used by the great and the good to further their divide and rule agenda.

Channel 4 News a few days ago invited Farage on. But only after the first Pegida protest, not before. Then they started off by asking him something like "are you with Pegida?" or "do you support them?" or something like that. It is diversion from the issue and linking in some way opposition to it to racism, Pegida and the media message of that 'orrible lot of UKIP people.

MephistophelesApprentice · 12/01/2016 12:16

Yes, but what are these intersecting interests? That's the piece of the puzzle that's missing for me.

Oil.

Oil oil oil.

And who gets it cheapest.

Germany shuts down nuclear reactors. Germany needs fossil fuels. Germany antagonises Russia. Germany DESPERATE for fossil fuels. Saudi Arabia offers cheap fossil fuels, in return for promotion of Islamic interests and additional 'protections' for the Muslim community. Germany supports further migration (to relieve pressure on Gulf states) and to suppresses news reports that might negatively impact on that arrangement.

It's a workable theory.

MamaMary · 12/01/2016 12:22

“Why extremists always focus on women remains a mystery to me,” U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said:

"But they all seem to. It doesn’t matter what country they’re in or what religion they claim. They want to control women.”

Egyptian feminist Mona Eltahawy puts it in stronger terms. "They hate women". From the article linked above:

"How much does Saudi Arabia hate women? So much so that 15 girls died in a school fire in Mecca in 2002, after “morality police” barred them from fleeing the burning building — and kept firefighters from rescuing them — because the girls were not wearing headscarves and cloaks required in public. And nothing happened. No one was put on trial."

MamaMary · 12/01/2016 12:25

Will we still be doing the things WH discusses and we nowadays take for granted in the future? What will life be like in the next decade?

On Women's Hour someone expressed the hope that in 30 years time bisexuals' rights would be better understood.

I am desperately hoping that in 30 years' time women's rights have not been diminished.

claig · 12/01/2016 12:25

MephistophelesApprentice, that is a possible scenario, but it seems that Germany is not playing ball and wants to escape its chains. This is from December 18 2015 in the Wall Street Journal.

"Germany’s Merkel Defends Russian Gas Pipeline Plan

EU and U.S. officials fear project could undermine the economic and political stability of Ukraine"

www.wsj.com/articles/germanys-merkel-defends-russian-gas-pipeline-plan-1450447499

Most of the political class are under great pressure and even control with blackmail and bugging and all the rest. Merkel is a puppet just like lots of the rest are. But different interests in Germany are pulling in different directions.

LumelaMme · 12/01/2016 12:27

'I hope lessons will be learned'.
Yeah, the usual. Confused

No mention of the press, though to be fair whew isn't sake about that.

Frankfurterwuerstchen · 12/01/2016 12:31

A female MDR reporter in Leipzig was attacked by a woman. Why is there so much hatred towards women from other women?

+++ 22:42 Uhr - MDR-Reporterin angegriffen +++

Eine Reporterin des MDR ist am Rande der Legida-Demonstration angegriffen worden. Eine Frau hat ihr zunächst das Handy aus der Hand geschlagen. Anschließend wurde ihr mit voller Wucht ins Gesicht geschlagen.

DespicableBee · 12/01/2016 12:32

I'm disappointed by the response from the female MP on the link below webchat
