I think that the reason VB attracts more flack than her husband is because his celebrity is built on being an extremely talented footballer. VB's talent seems to be for little more than keeping herself in the papers.

kittywits · 07/11/2006 13:44

It wouldn't surprise me if nothing of this epelesy is ever mentioned again, I'm rather disbelieving personally.

sandcastles · 07/11/2006 13:47

I think that is one of the worst things I have heard, KW. That a mother would lie about someting SO serious...I suppose you think that she would do it to get more publicity!

kittywits · 07/11/2006 14:12

I'm sure it isn't really one of the worst things you've ever heard.
I think that it would suit her to let's say exaggerate, I don't think she is lying, but if it's as serious as she has made out... some things jsut don't add up shall we say.
Yes I think that she and star struck people such as Vb who have clearly lost touch with reality can do some v. strange things. Call me a cynic, but I have seen time and time again exaggerated claims about this that and the other. This is not a normal person here.

seasonedcriminal · 07/11/2006 14:15

Perhaps he was postictal and needed to be in the buggy because the last fit he had left the poor litle boy wiped out. when my Xp had a seizure he wasn't able to move for a good 24hr and the next couple of days he was clumsy and tired.

nulnulcat · 07/11/2006 15:19

i feel sorry for her, the poor woman cant do anything right and whatever she does or says she gets bitched about.

it is sad romeo has epilepsy my dd has just been diagnosed with it and why the big deal she hasnt mentioned it before? her childrens health has f**k all to do with anyone else!!

when i have seen pics of the family the childrens faces generally tend to be obscured so the press obviously arent allowed to go round papping them and unlike jordan the beckhams arent on the front cover of every celeb magazine with there kids saying how tough it is

im not saying jordan doesnt have it tough but she really does use her kids for publicity

have seen plenty of magazines with posh on the front but never any of her and her kids

give the woman a break!

dyzzidi · 07/11/2006 15:44

I think she should be left alone. Her fame is done and dusted she can never truly step out of the limelight IMO. He hasn't taken any flak but he is more famous than her 'worldwide'. He also has a aftershave, various contracts with designers etc. FGS he was even in the Gillette TV advert which she has never done.

Very sad for Romeo just as I would be for any kid diagnosed with anything not just epilepsy. It would be nice to think she could count on support from other mothers whose kids have the same thing but no decisions made years ago prevent her from ever being 'normal' ever again.

7up · 07/11/2006 17:31

well said last 2 posters

Bibliophile · 07/11/2006 17:34

She's be devastated to be left alone! Why on earth do you think she wore all those outfits to New York fashion week? It was to get photographed!

NAB3 · 07/11/2006 17:37

I felt quite teary reading that, as i would about any child.

I was annoyed they wrote "confessed". Nothing to confess about.

No matter how much money and fame they have, they are parents just like us and will worry about their kids, just like we would.

PeachyClair · 07/11/2006 17:37

Isn't she launching a fashion range though?

Surely a career that requires attendance at fashion weeks? And a career that is about more than just hogging the cameras- quite a substantial career indeed.

Or are we denyng her the right to any career here? because she's never going to work in Asda or on the reception at the GP surgery is she?

Bibliophile · 07/11/2006 17:39

Did you see any other designers doing what she did? They don't. Publicity to her is like air to the rest of us.

PeachyClair · 07/11/2006 17:41

I confess I didn't see any of it, so cannot comment on the specifics.

Have to say though, if I were going to be photographed no matter whether I wore skank or glam, then it owuld be glam every time.

mousiemousie · 07/11/2006 17:41

VB doesn't prioritise the privacy of her children. If she did she would not court so much publicity herself or promote brand Beckham on family values.

I feel sorry for Romeo but Victoria isn't prepared to sacrifice her fame for anything, seemingly her son's health included.

Bibliophile · 07/11/2006 17:45

I feel very sorry for a little boy with epilepsy, and hope it is mild. I am sure she and David were extremely upset and worried and love him very much. The issue of seeking publicity is completely different IMO, and I think it's clear that she very much doesn't want to be left alone in obscurity. That's OK if its what she wants, but there is some hypocrisy in getting your people to tip off the photo agencies one day and attacking the papparazzi the next. If you really want to be obscure, you can be.

Bibliophile · 07/11/2006 17:45

I doubt that her fame has any effect on her kid's health though.

anniebear · 07/11/2006 19:46

cod......"she deserves all she gets"

???

surely however much you dislike a person, no body deserves to have their child have Epilepsy or any other condition

She would only deserve it if it was her falut he had Epilepsy

kittywits · 07/11/2006 20:04

That depends on whether camera falshes affect his health or not?????

sandcastles · 07/11/2006 22:58

KW, When one mother accuses another of lying, sorry exagerating, about the health of her children to gain attention, THAT IS the worse thing I hear.

We don't know the ins and out of her life, she IS entitled to a career, like every mother.

I didn't see the fashion show, but that is her JOB, I bet she didn't have her kids there then did she? Her walking through the airport is her LIFE, she is bound to have her children with her.

And it's not always her people who tip off the paps, it's airport staff too. And don't forget that they follow her everywhere, right from camping outside her house. Why the hell would she tell her staff "oh I'm going to be in the airport, please tell the paps come and take flash photos of my son who has photo sensative epilepsy" FFS, give the woman and her family a break!

divamummy · 07/11/2006 22:58

sad to hear. hope little dude is not too bad. money cant buy things sometimes.

kittywits · 07/11/2006 23:08

Sandcastles, you are being very kind to her. i don't feel the same. i think she is manipulative cow

sandcastles · 07/11/2006 23:16

So that's bad is it? To have sympathy for a woman who's son is suffering & she just gets slated?

I just think that we don't know the intricut (sp) details of her life and we should have a little sympathy for her being in a situation that isn't of her own making.

They go through kidnap threats, and all that crap too. Her life isn't easy, but people think that because she was/is famous she should back off, because she has kids, that she isn't entitled to have a career or a life. I remember her saying once that she has a career because SHE wants to contribute to her family.

Like I said before, MN slags off kate Moss for not having her child with her, and they are now slaging off VB for HAVING her child with her! Doesn't figure that one!

kittywits · 08/11/2006 07:07

I didn't say bad or good. i just don't think as you do.

Highlander · 08/11/2006 09:55

poor little mite

The Becks know he has epilepsy - all they had to do was issue a press statement asking the paps not to use flashguns when the kids are present. Of course they would oblige.

Silly, silly people for exposing their son to that, then expecting sympathy.

snowybun · 08/11/2006 23:12

I really feel for them I know I found it hard when my son(2) was diagnosed. It really isn't nice to see your child have seizures.
That article is very badly written and is very negative but you have to remember it is from the notw so what do you expect and written by someone who clearly isn't that well informed of epilepsy.
I wish them well and hope the meds will work quickly and sucessfully without any side effects.
