26 year old occupational therapist student missing in Glasgow.
Mumsnetters Please keep your eyes and ears open - you might find something beneficial to her being found.

I haven't heard a statement like that before either. How do they know it was consensual until they have spoken to her?

123upthere · 14/04/2015 20:51

Unless they're playing the 'he's not a suspect' card to the public (and him) until they can gather evidence? Or if he's linked to someone of interest it gives them time to see what his movements/their movements will be whilst they think the police aren't interested in them? It's just so sad.

AyeAmarok · 14/04/2015 20:53

And leaving without her coat does make it seem less thought-through.

Urgh, this is horrible. I really hope she's found, I just have a horrible feeling in my stomach, what with the helicopters circling open spaces and this car parked in a lay-by. Just horrendous.

This is extremely worrying. Especially as her handbag has been found. I heard that earlier. And agree how can the police say the sex was consensual if they have only the man's word for it. Hope there is a good outcome

123upthere · 14/04/2015 21:02

Very odd re consensual of course he's going to say it was consensual to keep himself in the clear

giraffesCantBunnyHop · 14/04/2015 21:09

Just tried to find other thread but been deleted.

Am from that area but on holiday just now. Trying to keep up with news. Very worrying.

123upthere · 14/04/2015 21:13

Could she have already known the person she spoke to & left with the club? To have gone without telling her friends is really odd.

Jackieharris · 14/04/2015 21:21

Yes the police statement that makes them sound sure she left his flat at 4am did seem strange.

Dp said that maybe he had flat mates who witnessed her leaving?

I don't think the leaving her jacket in the club is that suspicious- considering she took her handbag with her. I've left various coats in cloakrooms over the years. And when I worked in a nightclub cloakroom there were usually a few left over.

The police statement about the grey car on the milngavie to Drymen road makes it sound rather grim. Reminds me of the Suzanne pilley case. The a81 on he other side of dawsholm park leads up that way and it is very remote, with lots of forest.

However with her only living in the city for 3 months it would have been easy to get lost. There have been other cases of nightclubers falling into rivers when walking home and there is a riverbank in dawsholm park.

Either way Flowers Sad

123upthere · 14/04/2015 22:01

Agree JackieHarris How can they be sure she left at 4am exactly? Exactly 4am? If the consensual was asleep? Has he just said yeah she left my flat at 4am? Really strange to get an exact time when possibly alcohol consumed and when time not really at the forefront of anyone's mind at that time of day is it?

Not walking distance. Milngavie maybe about 4 miles from park, Drymen about 12.

trixymalixy · 14/04/2015 22:31

Really hope she is found safe Sad.

AyeAmarok · 14/04/2015 22:32

Thank goodness someone found her handbag. At least that way the police know there is something untoward that's happened and can embark on a proper missing person search.

If that hadn't happened then potentially they could have thought she'd just gone AWOL. At least this way they've swung into action quickly.

123upthere · 14/04/2015 23:38

Just saw photo on news of apartment she allegedly left at 4am could a neighbour in that building have seen her leave & followed her? I'm really upset by this story.

I don't know what to write. I keep wanting to type something then changing it. Am thinking of her tonight.

mrsmeerkat · 15/04/2015 00:03

I cannot get her out of my mind either. Just don't get why the young man drove home from the nightclub, get intimate and yet not think enough of her to drive her safely home. He must not have been drinking. I know I am speculating. I feel for her family and her brother returning home from Austrailia with all of this on his mind. :(

giraffesCantBunnyHop · 15/04/2015 00:26

Keep hoping if we all share enough then someone will link it with something that they saw and click that it's relevant information.

Redglitter · 15/04/2015 00:26

AyeAmorak there was a full scale missing person search well under way long before her bag was found. They've been searching since Sunday

Redglitter · 15/04/2015 00:28

Maybe the guy who drive her back to his then had a drink. he'd be foolish to risk driving even if he had one drink at home. Didn't one of her family or friends say she didn't like taxis. Still hell of a walk from his place to where she stays. ironically a taxi would have been a lot safer

mkz10 · 15/04/2015 05:29

I am wondering if she went with someone initially under false pretences. Based on what her friends are saying, it kind of seems out of character that she would tell her friends she was going to the bathroom and then leave without telling them, or even sending them a text that she was leaving and not to wait for her.

It is looking very grim for her and her family now at this point.

SabrinaTheTeenageWitch · 15/04/2015 06:52

The car near Drymen is really worrying me.

I suppose it's possible she knew the guy she left the club with. Maybe someone saw her leaving at 4am I suppose. I really hope they find her today. Her poor parents.

123upthere · 15/04/2015 07:12

Maybe a flatmate offered to drive her home?

PterodactylTeaParty · 15/04/2015 07:31

BBC news article today suggests she left the flat at 4am to walk home. Maybe they think she turned the wrong way on Dorchester Avenue and headed up into Dawsholm Park rather than down towards Great Western Road? But then surely she'd have had a phone with her if she felt lost?

I so hope they find her today and that she's safe. Her poor family Sad
