Steve Irwin has died

Just heard on the news that Steve Irwin "The Crocodile Hunter" has died in a diving accident. He was stung through the heart by a stingray.

His poor family.

I think even if there were a core of truth in these critical remarks about him, I can't see the point of them. He's dead, FFS. Give it a rest.

I'm horrified . I had a real soft spot for him, he was so infectious, and very brave. His poor wife and children.

Its really sad news about steve and i am so shocked by some of the uncompassionate mumsnetters, above all a woman has lost her husband, two children have lost there dad our thoughts should be with them and the rest of the family, yes he didnt an out of the ordinary job but it was one he enjoyed it is still sad news and no matter how different the circumstances in how he died could have been i am sure it would have affected the world on the same scale. Poor Teri, the love they shared really shone through on all their documentaries she has now lost the love of her life - maybe all negative posts should go elsewhere and those most cynical perhaps have time to reflect on the heartless comments posted and put yourself in her shoes right now and what she has to now face

Very sad, as it is when anyone dies, esp when they die too young.

Heard talk of a state uneral for him. Does that seem a bit OTT? I mean, what do I care, but it just made me open my eyes slightly wider then usual when I heard.

I really hope they destroy the tape, if one exists. I don't think that should be shown anywhere. You just have to think of his wife and children
