"The air search winds up today without a single item relating to MH370 being found - so the search effort from now on will be purely underwater, with an expanded search area that is estimated to be around 700km long and 40km wide.
The JACC estimates that the new search phase will possibly take up 8 or 9 months."

suddenly we have terror suspects. maybe building up to the big reveal now.

sorry for the source

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 04/05/2014 09:14

Thanks, honey.

Hawkshaw · 04/05/2014 21:13

Bloody hell! That seems a bit sudden.

AnyaKnowIt · 04/05/2014 22:02

Only seems to be coming from the daily mail

claig · 04/05/2014 22:13

"The police in Malaysia have denied a report by British newspaper Daily Mail claiming that the suspected militants arrested last week were being detained as part of a probe into the disappearance of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370"

allisgood1 · 04/05/2014 22:17

Hmmm....not sure what to think.

AnyaKnowIt · 04/05/2014 22:18

We'll. Wouldn't be the first time the mail have created a work of fiction

TheHoneyBadger · 05/05/2014 06:22

the independent covered it too but were very careful to say 'according to the daily mail' and to throw 'alleged to' in there a lot. didn't know reporting what another newspaper had reported without finding your own sources counted as journalism.

could be another red herring, could be a leak, the whole thing has been so obfuscated that it is indeed difficult to know what to think. it could have been a 'feeler' to see what people were willing to swallow. a lot of this feels like that tbh - as if things are released, there is incredulity or people not following the direction you'd think they'd go with it and then it either gets claimed to have been wrong or just goes quiet and is abandoned.

"didn't know reporting what another newspaper had reported without finding your own sources counted as journalism"

Newspapers are always doing that!

Just discovered that the blackbox pings are at the wrong frequency 33.1 khz not 37.5 khz.
ShockShock

Why wasn't this highlighted in all the media coverage ?
Anyone seen an explanation for this ?

Also wondering what the outcome of Australia's re-audit of available information will be (now overdue).

Will Inmarsat give them all the data ?
Will they cover the frequency discrepancy from the "blackbox" pings ?

AnyaKnowIt · 08/05/2014 12:21
Shock
TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 08/05/2014 12:22

I believe I've read that before, AKey, re frequency, think there is an explanation but am out and about.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 08/05/2014 12:23

The interval between pings was steady though...

What does anyone make of this news about Sarah Bajc's death threats? Related or not?

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 11/05/2014 11:07

Could be one of the relatives or friends blaming IBM? Don't know but how sad for her.

AKeyFox · 12/05/2014 14:15

I supect it is either:

  1. Because they perceive her hijack theory might lessen the culpability of Malaysian Airlines and hence the compensation.
  1. Because they perceive she is getting disproportionate amount of media coverage compared to the Chinese families.
AKeyFox · 12/05/2014 15:35

So what became of the re-audit of the data ?

AnyaKnowIt · 12/05/2014 20:49

Its all gone very quiet now, guessing there is nothing to report Sad

Thanks member.

About time.

I wonder if Inmarsat will release all the data though.
Also still no mention of the re-audit that was supossed to take place on 7th May.
