It's going to last six months.

At least Andy turned up with a poppy on. Nice touch. Bit early though.

I felt a bit sorry for Ms Brooks today. It's really horrid to have your life dragged through the mire and even your love letters made public. Really awful.

And then I thought about swords and living and dying by them.

Still feel a bit sorry for her but that's because I'm a complete softie nice person I suppose.

limitedperiodonly · 31/10/2013 18:04

Northern you are too lovely for this world. I'm not mocking btw.

Save your sympathy though.

Is Murdoch still paying legal fees?

Pan · 31/10/2013 18:08

Wonder if Camrun will be even more closely implicated in doing/knowing about Bad Things but doing nothing.

EerieCompadre · 31/10/2013 18:09

I don't have anything ingesting to add, but I don't want to get lost in the thread as it grows so I'm just marking my place and pondering my contributions carefully Halloween Wink

bludgerwitch · 31/10/2013 18:10

Wouldn't surprise me, I never got why there wasn't more of an outcry about AC and the nice cushy job he got from DC.

ExcuseTypos · 31/10/2013 18:14

I know what you mean Northern, but then I think about what she's supposed to have done, and I lose all sympathy.

She was also very pally with Sara Payne wasn't she, and managed to behave disgustingly in that relationship too.

hackmum · 31/10/2013 18:16

limited: "I really hope the prosecution hasn't peaked too soon and is saving some goodies like a Monday to Wednesday serialisation."

Laughing at this because it's exactly what I thought. Day two and we have this already! And we have another six months. I can't wait.

Pan · 31/10/2013 18:18

A red-haired friend who keeps getting 'double-takes' for RB will be really pissed off. On the bright side, she is on the other side of the world and still asleep, and more importantly, it won't be me who will tell her.Grin

limitedperiodonly · 31/10/2013 18:21

Rubbing hands? Catch a fire, hackmum Grin

Roll on tomorrow. They'll knock off at lunchtime though because it's so civilised. So it'll start properly on Monday.

Ah in Manchester it's POETS day. Same darn sarf?

donnie · 31/10/2013 18:23

Wow. Bent coppers, corrupt journalists, bribes, secret affairs, murders ..........it's like a story out of the News Of The World

Oh, hang on....

ExcuseTypos · 31/10/2013 18:25

Murders? Shock

donnie · 31/10/2013 18:28

yes indeed...MD, whose phone was intercepted, DM the journo investigating police corruption. This thing is pure evil you know. Even murder victims were not off limits. There was no red line. Sad

NorthernLurker · 31/10/2013 18:28

I assume it's the murder of Milly Dowler and then all the goings on that followed that's being alluded to there.

reelingintheyears · 31/10/2013 18:28

Only reputations ExcuseTypos...I think. Grin

reelingintheyears · 31/10/2013 18:29

Oh, yes, sorry, you meant Milly Dowler.

Apologies.

donnie · 31/10/2013 18:29

I believe the phones of family members of the 7/7 bombings were also hacked.

TiredDog · 31/10/2013 18:31

I agree with Northern apart from the last line! I think she deserves what she is getting

ExcuseTypos · 31/10/2013 18:32

Sorry, I thought you meant the accused people had murdered someone.

I understand now.

deepfriedsage · 31/10/2013 18:33

What murder?

Despite the bent coppers, corrupt journalists, bribes and affairs, Mr and Mrs average go about their business. Any other country would have people burning pictures and rioting.

hackmum · 31/10/2013 18:36

Imagine if they'd pleaded guilty, like their colleagues - we wouldn't have any of this. It's very public-spirited of them to go to trial so we can all be entertained for six months. I wonder how long it will be before Cameron's name gets dragged into it all.

limitedperiodonly · 31/10/2013 18:40

It's not the alleged interception of phone messages that concerns me - repugnant though that is.

It's the alleged obstruction and interference in police investigations and alleged bribing of public officials that horrifies me.

I'm not keen on the people in the dock today but I'd like to see police officers, particularly senior Met ones, there in future.

Maybe that will happen.

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 31/10/2013 18:43

Ha ha very public spirited :o

Just marking place. I'm interested in the links between them and top government people. I have a feeling that someone will try and stop proceedings somehow, fingers crossed that doesn't happen.

RB gets a lot more flak due to being a woman, which is irritating, but somehow I can't muster up any sympathy.

limitedperiodonly · 31/10/2013 18:46

I wonder how long it will be before Cameron's name gets dragged into it all

Yes. And I wonder after each debacle he says WTF? He seems quite, what's the word: straightforward, open, dishonest, dim?
