The absolute best was Romanzo Criminale, two series, best thing on Italian tv ever. I know that's not saying much, but truly, it was fantastic. Download it. Really.

I'm currently enjoying Isabel, which is a Spanish drama about late 15th century royals which is entertaining, good for practising your Spanish and inadvertently funny.

Corleone, about '40s to early '90s Italian Mafia, was rather good, if more pedestrian than Romanzo.

Maison Close about life in a 19th century whorehouse is okay if it's a bit rainy outside.

Mysteries of Lisbon is a fucking weird Portuguese thing and I deleted it.

To be serious for a moment, the prosecution said today that Surrey Police had knowledge of NotW interference in the Milly Dowler investigation but ignored it.

I think the prosecution are probably right to try not to muddy the waters. They are trying to get a conviction.

But after the dust has settled I think Surrey Police have serious questions to answer about the competence of their investigation and their links to the NotW.

Just like I think the Met, particularly Catford Police Station, have serious questions to answer about Daniel Morgan in the light of Greg Miskiw's guilty plea over phone hacking.

Like I said, there have been false dawns. I really hope we're going to turn a corner.
