It's going to last six months.

At least Andy turned up with a poppy on. Nice touch. Bit early though.

Erm not sure about that Elizabeth. I can't see how the removal of computers can be seen as anything other than very bad for them.

AnyaKnowIt · 04/11/2013 18:27

I would love to know what 'do his phone' meant then

MrsSquirrel · 04/11/2013 18:35

I'm looking forward to that explanation too Anya. Other than the obvious, I can only think of smutty ones.

georgedawes · 04/11/2013 18:38

not sure I agree Elizabeth but we will see what comes out as the trial progresses - this was only the opening statement.

What I do want to know is why was Andy Coulson's barrister allowed to give an opening statement before the defence case opened? That isn't normal is it? And why only him not the other defendants?

I am intrigued by the bombshell alluded to upthread!

Elizabeth: re the computer behind the bin: I cannot imagine how you arrive at that conclusion!!!! Confused

The actual content of the computer is irrelevant. Clearly when they decided, in a panic, to play hunt the thimble with it, they didn't know what might be in it.

Nothing incriminating, as it turned out; but the Bs obv thought there might have been something, & that in itself is incriminating, regardless of the Chuckle Brother antics

limitedperiodonly · 04/11/2013 22:25

I was convinced on opening statements that Harry Redknapp was going down.

How wrong I was; he skipped away.

I was surprised.

However, people like Harry Redknapp.

Tabloid journalists, not so much.

When did Roger Alton edit the Guardian? Not during the last 50 years.

InTheFace · 04/11/2013 23:06

Loving this thread - am in a stupid time zone, can't follow anything in real time.

So RB and CB have made arrangements for their daughter.

I hate to be cynical (although I don't think I come close to the depths of cynicism that the likes of RB must live with), but there's a small part of me that can't help but wonder how convenient the timing of this child's arrival has been. Don't get me wrong, any baby born to anyone is a wondrous, miraculous thing, I have no doubt she was extremely welcome and is as well loved as any baby could be.

But, just like people plan children to suit lifestyles (eg I knew I definitely couldn't handle two under 2 so decided to wait, and now think DD is getting a bit spoilt so time for a sibling soon), I just think that someone who is so utterly pragmatic and practical as RB may well have timed this baby helpfully...

tiktok · 04/11/2013 23:17

Alton has edited the Observer and the Indie - not the Gdn.

Yet again I wish we had an angel emoticon on here.

So sorry. There's always this one Grin

MadameDefarge · 05/11/2013 01:11

sorry got my guardian and observer mixed up. But they are stablemates!

Squiffyagain · 05/11/2013 04:58

Ah God yes. An Angel emoticon is an essential requirement and this thread would be so much the richer for it (although an overflow of riches is indeed a risk) If we have it with a slight orange tinge we can re-use it for the Peter Andre threads.

Who's going to ask nicely?

And a devil emoticon, too, for Alan Titchmarsh. To spice him up a bit.

Onesleeptillwembley · 05/11/2013 07:49

Poor Alan Titmunch. Dragged into all this. Grin
