Celebs are such easy targets and therin lies the fun. Lol at this thread - should be feeling shameful but there's something arms-folded-over-the-garden-fence-Des-Lawson-stylee about the whole thing.

alexsmum · 17/05/2006 14:29

'enid we never really knew each other anyway'
brilliant!

just love be my yoko ono-
'if i was john and you were yoko i would gladly give up musical genius, just have you as my very own-personal venus!'

Orlando · 17/05/2006 14:32

'I know that when I say this I may be stepping on pins and needles
But I don't like all these people slagging her for breaking up the Beatles...'

I justify my bitchiness because she has set herself up for being shot down in flames with her cows milk issue.

She is not professionally qualified in any way to decide one way or another and to try and to use her "married to a celebrity status" to sway other people's opinions is irresponsible. I don't mind her quietly practising whatever she believes about food fads but there are a lot of gullible people out there who should be taking their cue from government food/health agencies and not a self-promoting crackpot. The landmines, Princess Diana thing is a whole different scenario.

Quite frankly she comes across as an aggressive person in documentaries and chat shows and I'd almost put on a fur coat just to annoy her. To me, even (Sir?)Bob Geldof yelling "give us your fu(king money" seems less aggressive than her underlying personality.

I may think better of her when the details of the divorce settlement come out but I'm not holding my breath.

niceglasses · 17/05/2006 15:04

And anyway - whats changed here?
Macca has been famous for decades and always in the press. His first marriage worked despite press intrusion and lots of anti Linda coverage. How come his second didn't? Can't just be the press, though admittedly gossip and press coverage increased in recent yrs.

arfy · 17/05/2006 15:04

maybe he'll stop dying his hair now

I'm sorry, but it looks ridiculous

Uwila · 17/05/2006 15:05

So, I guess Paul is on the market again, huh? Do you think he's done making babies?

lunarx · 17/05/2006 15:10

i just heard something on bbc radio 2 about this and they (P&H) stated that all the media attention is one of the causes???

well, its not like they tried to live a low key life anyway! with their snoots all over the seal-clubbing thing in canada!

(i still dont care, but hearing that just bugged me!!)

Orlando · 17/05/2006 15:11

Such a co-incidence that this extremely high-profile split should happen just the week before she has a book coming out, too.

Piffle · 17/05/2006 15:11

Oh I love Bare Naked Ladies that Gordon album is knicker wettingly brilliant.
As for sir P
Well his assets will be much less one expects...
Stellas inheritance halved...
Crikey....
And she will be able to tell her Dad
I told you so
A focal point in any childs life, heavens knows having your dad as a venerable Beatle, vegetarian crusader and tireless charity worker, Stella has had a long wait to be able to say it...

mommie · 17/05/2006 15:20

heather mills was always going to be a nightmare. all her ex boyfriends said she was, and i think stella has her head screwed on about people like h. i think it's very cheeky for paul and heather to blame the media glare when they are happy to use it when it suits. Her landmine campaign would have been nothing without the media and she wanted a fortune from the press for pics of her in her hospital bed after her car accident. Linda had life sussed; get on with life and go with the flow. She always seemed spot on to me.

jasper · 17/05/2006 15:23

spidermama I agree with your sentiments.

The nastiness on this thread is vile.

sharklet · 17/05/2006 15:27

Poor kid - thats all I think.

mommie · 17/05/2006 15:32

i have actually seen the paparazzi in action and actually most of the press is quite fair. those in the spotlight have very good PR people who know how to work the press to their advantage. Piers Morgan was very good on this subject on his programme for the BBC about how tabloids actually work. Genuinely nice people do not get turned over. Those who want publicity and then complain about it are exposed for the hypocrites they are. You rarely see a genuinely nice celeb being "turned over". it's in no one's interests

Blu · 17/05/2006 15:44

I saw the police having to keep papparrazzi away from the family of Richard Attenborough at the memorial service for his grand-daughter, his Daughter and his Daughter's MIL, all lost in the Tsunami.

sharklet · 17/05/2006 15:44

Mommie, with all due respect, I thnk your post is pretty naive. I have plenty of freinds and colleagues who have been stalked by the press. Its never a good experience at best its initially faintly amusing, then irritating at worst its enough to make you feel frigtened to leave the house, depressed and worse. saying that only nasty people get stalked and harrassed is blatantly not true. Magazines and newspapers pay big bucks for pictures of people in the public eye. Paparazzi photographers don't all get to gether and so "come on lads lets lay off this person as they're nice"

Being famous is a real Faustian pact with the devil. You may get to do lots of things you've always dreamed of - the difference is its rare you get to enjoy it in the manner you would like to.

I have no idea what kind of a person HMM is having never met her. I agree she comes across as a complete withc in the media, but lets be honest we're not seeing the real her are we. She might well be a total cow, but i wouldn't trust the word of folk who'd sold thier stories for as much cash as possible and thrown in a few choice stories to up the price.

Blu · 17/05/2006 15:46

Pursuing the grand-daughters schoolfriends round to London Bridge, poking cameras in their weeping faces, pursuing the man who lost his daughter, wife and mother...Not Nice People to be pursued by.

tamum · 17/05/2006 15:49

I have little sympathy for Heather's extreme viewpoints on stuff like milk, but if that story about Stella getting someone to stub their fag out on her leg at the wedding is true then I think she (Stella) is a complete shite.

sharklet · 17/05/2006 15:49

No- that doesn't sound like "fair" behaviour to me! Perhaps it is fair if your a newspaper editor though?? Just a thought mommie - perhaps think about the vested interest your source has - piers morgan isn't exactly a well informed but uninvolved bystander is he??

Clary · 17/05/2006 15:54

Hmmmm, I hear what you say Spidermama, but I think I must just be a nastier person than you.
Have never liked this woman and always felt that this marriage was deeply fake on her side.
Watched some of the anti-fur documentary and tbh she was so annoying she made me want to go and buy a mink coat.

(not really, I hasten to add)

lol at Piff's post Grin

bundle · 17/05/2006 17:02

she tried to chat up dh on the heathrow express once, so she's not my favourite person. but i think it is very, very sad when couples split especially when children are involved.

pilla · 17/05/2006 17:16

I have changed my name for this for obvious reasons and just want to say you are all wrong and very judgemental I know her and she is nothing like you describe talk about women being each others worst enemies! You sound like a bitter bunch of fishwives

cod · 17/05/2006 17:16

we are!

Kathlean · 17/05/2006 17:19

wow I just heard on the news that she could get around a quarter of his £800 million fortune.

I'd marry the silly old man for that!!

Normsnockers · 17/05/2006 17:20

Pilla

As someone with insider info, why do you think she comes across as so agressive when shown in for example that recent documentary about her campaign against the furrier industry ?

I mean Bob Geldof is passionate about his charity work but honestly even when swearing he's less intimidating on camera.
