well pilla, maybe she is a lovely person in real life but whenever I have seen her talking I have found her irritating.
And no-one can deny she has used her celebrity, even if it is to advance what many would see as good causes.
TBH if I were married to Paul McCartney and had lots of money the last thing I would be worrie about would be how a bunch of fish-wifey women got their kicks. And I am sure she feels the same.

yoyo · 17/05/2006 17:22

Nope. Ain't convinced.

Normsnockers · 17/05/2006 17:22

We are also cynical and had we been at the wedding we'd have been standing around saying (I give it two years, 3 at the most).

I was right about the last wedding I felt obliged to go to where the couple had been arguing and engagement ring hurling at the last minute.

Normsnockers · 17/05/2006 17:36

We should let her divorce settlement request be the deciding factor I think. Actions speak louder than words.

His reputation and credibility (and therefore possibly his celebrity earning capacity) have suffered during the time he spent with HM, her earning capacity has increased vastly despite having a baby to look after.

I think she has a nerve if she feels the need to be compensated for the marriage breakdown other than by his financial support for the child and it should take the same form as the financial aid given to his existing children who I believe were not financially spoiled during their early years.

Tinker · 17/05/2006 17:37

Apparently she refused to sign a pre-nup.

Tinker · 17/05/2006 17:37

Or she offered to. One or the other.

Uwila · 17/05/2006 17:37

But, what are celebrities for if not to say nasty judgemental things about?

I mean no one feels sorry for Victoria Beckham when we have a right go at her. I've heard her on the radio and I actually think she sounds pretty nice. But, that doesn't stop me from saying she looke like an anorexic gorilla.

And for Heather, well that milk comment was definately a stupid thing to say.

How well do you know her?

Normsnockers · 17/05/2006 17:40

I do feel sorry for Victoria Beckham as I suspect she battles a lot of personal demons which no amount of money can vanish away.

Uwila · 17/05/2006 17:54

Yes, like the unfortunate resemblance to an ape.

ruty · 17/05/2006 18:06

i feel sorry for them actually. She does come across as rather annoying, but it is difficult to judge her when we don't really know her or what she has been through. I was a bit suspicious about all the stuff she claimed to have done in the Balkans, and i think she may have a problem with over elaborating slightly, but i really don't know. Paul MacCartney isn't stupid, although he must still have been grief stricken when he met her - maybe she helped him through a difficult time when no one else could. They have a little girl and it is rather sad.

Rowlers · 17/05/2006 18:22

Tinker, Grin

mommie · 17/05/2006 18:52

i don't know anyone who has had "plenty of friends stalked by the press", sharklet. what line of work are you in?!

mommie · 17/05/2006 18:57

ps; i mentioned piers because he is a good example of someone who has seen close up celebs play it coy and then lay themselves bare to the media (take princess di or george michael for example, if you have read piers' book) and quite frankly, many want it both ways. As someone else says here, fame is truly a faustian pact. The people best at it are people like Boris Johnson who refuse to take anything written about them seriously and continue to be comedic, and therefore quite likeable IMO

sottovoce · 17/05/2006 20:27

at least paul can have a joint in peace now.

I'm a make-up artist Mommie and Bodypainter. Spent 12 years working in West End Theatre and now work in TV, Film and advertising so yes, I went to college with, work with and socialise with lots of "celebrities" of varying degrees of fame, so have some insight as to what it might be like. All I can say is I'm really glad its not me!

puff · 17/05/2006 22:12

Oh sharklet what a fabulous job

Moomin · 17/05/2006 22:23

they just said on the news some lawyers are talking of settlements of up to £200 millions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2shoes · 17/05/2006 22:24

for 4 years.............

Twinkie1 · 17/05/2006 22:25

God hate whinging f'ing celebs who go on about press intrusion and their lives being made hell and then turn round and are photograhed by hello for fuck loads and given shit loads of nice designer clothes because the designer sees it as free publicity and they are quite happy to accept them - they want to use the media when it suits them and then step back and say no! and life and fame isn't like that (I should know Wink) - as much as they would like it to be the case the oublic are more interested in the stuff that isn't stage managed and as they have chosen to be a celeb I think they should just swallow it.

HMM dangled herself out to all and sundry so she can't moan about anything really IMO - heard that her being bossy and shouty was a huge factor - DP said it was because PM did not buy her a Plane for her birthday!!! Blush

LeahE · 17/05/2006 22:34

No opinion on HMM but I have great respect for celebrities who insist on keeping their private lives private. Ewan Macgregor, for example, won't let his children be photographed. When he did the round-the-world thing he said goodbye to them in private at home rather than have them there when he actually set off in front of the cameras because he said it would be hypocritical for him to drag them out for the press when it suited his own personal projects but expect the press to leave his family life alone the rest of the time. There are other celebrities who take a similar approach. I do tend towards the opinion that if you invite the media into your life for your own purposes (glossy family photoshoots, interviews about your family life, etc.) then it's your own lookout.

bundle · 18/05/2006 11:58

in a piece in Standard today, their "friends" are reported as saying:

that Paul had: "become plagued by his wife's constant criticisms and tantrums. "

Heather had allegedly "accused her husband of not caring, had chided him on his lack of style an dhad become jealous of his fame"

hmmmmm

arfy · 18/05/2006 12:02

oh those 'friends' or 'sources close to the couple'

slebs seem to have lots of them don't they, who like to run their mouths off

it's going to be a total medja frenzy now, especially after they were blamed for the break-up - it's going to be all systems go now.

jampots · 18/05/2006 12:53

I had a funny text come through today about this. Anyone want it>?

tiredemma · 18/05/2006 13:08
