She has more mad ideas than any woman I have ever known.

Linda was apparently v nice. My uncle moved some stuff for them once (worked for Pickfords) and she gave them all a huge tip and had lunch with them.

aelita · 27/03/2006 09:10

Caligula · 27/03/2006 09:27

Blimey. I never knew there were so many "fictions" about her. I got through about 10 fictions/ facts and got bored.

monkeytrousers · 27/03/2006 09:31

As a veggie (not vegan) I drink organic milk and free range organic eggs, both for my own well being and the animals involved. I personally won't be going vegan as I think it's unrealistic to expect society to drop such a nutritious part of their diet as dairy is. But I would support a campaign for people to opt for sustainable organic free range dairy to lessen the suffering of the animals involved.. There is evidence that the hormones non organic cows are fed so they constantly lactate does contribute to breast cancer.

And she's not bloody mad. Really, what is it with you lot and Heather Mills. It's the most constant example of female misogyny we get on here - sorry, but it's true!

monkeytrousers · 27/03/2006 09:34

And Linda had to put up with exactly the same treatment before she became ill - she was everyone's favorite whipping boy. Again for absolutely no reason.

noddyholder · 27/03/2006 09:36

i like her and think she has some valid points

flutterbee · 27/03/2006 09:40

I find it very funny that all the bad stuff the papers print are lies but all the good stuff is obviously true!! Wink

Uwila · 27/03/2006 10:11

So, does this mean that the baby cows are at risk?

She's bonkers. Milk is good. (and so is beef!) Smile

expatinscotland · 27/03/2006 10:20

cheesecake is good.

ice cream is good.

yoghurt is good.

pizza is good.

heather mills is potty.

noddyholder · 27/03/2006 10:46

A lot of cows milk is full of anti biotics and cow hormones and is a reall source of allergy in lots of people It is for baby cows after all so I don't think she is potty at all.A lot of people find a real improvement of health giving up milk products not for everyone but not a reason to slate her!

noddyholder · 27/03/2006 10:46

pizza is not good for you

Uwila · 27/03/2006 10:56

So, call for chemical free organic milk. And she isn't stopping at milk. She wants all dairy out. Chees, milk, yogurt...

Removing these things from a child's diet because of allergies is one thing. Removing them from everyone's diet as a matter of course is not a good idea.

Caligula · 27/03/2006 11:24

I agree with Uwila (shock horror Grin). It's not a great idea to remove them from everyone's diet as a matter of course unless people are educated as to the alternatives.

But I think sometimes you have to have a blanket message of "give it all up now" in order to just raise awareness. Like hammering home the point that drinking in pregnancy should be limited or that chocolate is BAD - of course it's not, in moderation, but to get through to public consciousness, you sometimes need a sledgehammer message.

Callisto · 27/03/2006 11:30

Agree with Caligula and Uwila. And what really annoys me is that a bloody celeb is telling me something is bad for me. Celebrities are all barmy, neurotic, attention-seekers and the last people who should give advice on anything ever. (In fact they should gagged as soon as they start.)

expatinscotland · 27/03/2006 11:36

Pizza can be VERY good for you. Especially the type we make - a wholemeal crust, some Jamie's Very Veggy sauce for a base, Scottish organic cheese and more veg. Excellent! I drizzle olive oil on mine b/c I'm not much of a heavy cheese fan.

Enid · 27/03/2006 11:38

Food is lovely

I agree with Uwila

spidermama · 27/03/2006 11:39

If she'd tempered her campaign and said, 'Some people perhaps ought to consider having slightly less dairy at some point' no-one would be interested and she'd get no publicity.

She's got all of us talking about the relative values of a dairy laiden diet, and she has got the more intelligent among us questioning their own beliefs.

So good on her.

Tinker · 27/03/2006 11:42

People don't like her because she (and Linda did) appear to be utterly humourless. It's not her messages that are so off-putting, it's her style of putting them across.

I was a Jamie switcher - hated him, now like him because he has charm. She has none.

Orlando · 27/03/2006 11:45

Also he has a distinct role. He's a chef and he preaches about food. He can be a bit of a whinger at times, but he's utterly plausible.

Totally agree Tinker. She just comes across in a very negative way for me. And, it seems for lots of people.

spidermama · 27/03/2006 11:46

We don't all have to be sef deprecating comedians do we? How boring life would be. I like earnest people. They get stuff done.

spidermama · 27/03/2006 11:47

Jesus! Women are there own worst enemies.

Tinker · 27/03/2006 11:48

I don't Smile

desperateSCOUSEwife · 27/03/2006 11:49

I disagree tinker, I think people dont like her as she seems to be an effing gold digger of the highest calibre

also the fact that she is trying to emulate linda mc cartney on her ideas of vegetarianism and animal rights etc
and basically isnt a patch on linda

Uwila · 27/03/2006 11:50

She doesn't have me quetioning my beliefs. I do however question her qualifications on the subject.

Jaimie is annoying, but he is well qualified and does a lot of good (i.e. school dinners). I like him.

But Heather is just a pretty face. And suggesting that we stop feeding our children milk is damaging. How many crap drink are out there. When we go out for lunch the only healthful drink on offer for the kids is milk.
