She has more mad ideas than any woman I have ever known.

Shock

I drink nearly 3 pints a day atm

madly strong pg craving

spidermama · 26/03/2006 21:08

I'm with Heather on this one and what's more, good on her for being brave enough to face all the wrath and scorn which is poured at her.

I've never quite bought the idea that our bones and teeth would suffer if we didn't drink the milk of another mammal every day, especially as that mammal is pumped with all sorts of odd things.

It's also made to produce way more milk than it should for its calves and consequently it gets mastitis ... so enjoy your pussy milk in that fridge. I think it's vile.

Why are you all stopping at cow milk anyway? What about a nice glass of dog milk? Hmm? Or some mouse milk may be considered a delicacy. Or what about lait du chat?

Also I'm genuinely stumped as to why people hate Heather MM. What is that about? It seems to be other women who hate her (no surprise there then).

Orlando · 26/03/2006 21:08

Go for it Enid. My pg craving with dd3 was for coke (cola rather than class A type) Hate to think what Ms M-Mc would say to that (global corporations blah blah)

Could she be worried about milk because she's such an old....

(No. Have gone too far now.)

drosophila · 26/03/2006 21:09

I know someone who stopped giving milk to her ds when he was a tot cos in China they don't give milk past a certain age.

Orlando · 26/03/2006 21:10

Sanctimonious.

that's why.

Enide · 26/03/2006 21:10

semi-skimmed organic cows milk is delicious, she seems to forget that though

spidermama · 26/03/2006 21:12

Why is she any more sanctimonious than any other campaigner?

Tsk tsk. And she speaks so highly of all you lot too. Wink

Enide · 26/03/2006 21:12

because its nuts to try and BAN MILK

JoolsToo · 26/03/2006 21:16

Oh for goodness sake! we all milk is meant for another species (and if you didn't you probably do now after months of mning) - of course it should be banned!

Orlando · 26/03/2006 21:17

She has a hostile attitude. I think to get any message across you have to assume a certain willingness on the part of the people whom you are trying to convert to listen... She always gives the impression that she's got it right and all the rest of us are The Unenlightened Mob. It makes me (a lentil-weaving Guardian reader) want to go out and blow the children's music lesson fund on a fur coat.

milward · 26/03/2006 21:17

What about ice-cream!!

Orlando · 26/03/2006 21:18

Well, not literally (obviously the children don't have a music lesson fund). but you see what I mean.

Enide · 26/03/2006 21:18

more old tired crap from people who are scared of food IMO

Orlando · 26/03/2006 21:20

And in the early Playboy-peach-satin-cami-knickers-and-no-bra days, wasn't she photographed with a fag hanging out of her glossy scarlet lips?

If you're worried about cancer, H, that'll do it every time.

spidermama · 26/03/2006 21:30

Orlando did you never do anything when you were younger which is at odds with your current beliefs?

I smoked when I was younger. So does that mean I'd be a total hypocrite if, for example, I were to lecture my kids about the dangers of smoking. Perhaps I'll keep my mouth shut about acid and weed too then shall I?

spidermama · 26/03/2006 21:35

Oh.
Sorry, have I killed your bitchfest? Don't mind e. I'm a fan of sanctimonious people. Grin

Blandmum · 26/03/2006 21:38

drosophila, in china most people don't have the enzyme to break down lactose whenn then are adults. This is also true of much of the far east, which explains why milk isn't a big part of their diet

Caligula · 26/03/2006 21:39

But does she have a hostile attitude? Is that just the way the media portrays her? I have never seen her interviewed or anything, so I have no idea what she's like - I have no impression of her whatsoever, except that she is married to that Paul McCartney, which is probably a slight negative, for me, mainly due to the Mull of Kintyre, Frog Song and Ebony and Ivory fiascos.

Banning milk is a bit extreme (well, very extreme) but I don't think it hurts to raise awareness that it's not the absolute necessity in our diets that so many people assume it is. Loads of people manage to get by without eating any dairy and don't have calcium deficiency and don't have a terribly complicated diet system either.

Enide · 26/03/2006 21:40

yes fine

but its not necessarily bad for you to drink it either

Enide · 26/03/2006 21:40

"Loads of people manage to get by without eating any dairy and don't have calcium deficiency "

hmmmm

really?

Enide · 26/03/2006 21:42

"Follow a 'Bone-Friendly' diet

Healthy bones need a well-balanced diet, incorporating minerals and vitamins from different food groups.
You especially need to ensure that your diet is rich in calcium. The best sources of calcium are milk and dairy products such as cheese and yogurt. Non-dairy sources of calcium include green leafy vegetables, baked beans, bony fish and dried fruit. "

from the osteoporosis society website

Mercy · 26/03/2006 21:44

So what about vegans then? They cope without dairy

Enide · 26/03/2006 21:50

cope

but are often low in calcium and can have problems later in life I believe

SorenLorensen · 26/03/2006 21:51

I think she's mad as a bag of snakes.

Enide · 26/03/2006 21:52

you can get calcium from green leafy veg though

but not as easily or effectively
