She (or anybody else) shouldn't campaign about something that is only speculation with little or no scientific evidence. The health advantages outweigh the risks. And whatever you replace milk with in your diet will probably carry its own health risk in a year or two. Moderation in all things, to campaign against milk is mad and bad.

Well, I disagree, but then I would, because I am one of the (admittedly small % of) people who are made ill by cows milk. I suffered for years because my mother swallowed this crap that cows milk is good for you.

Drink cows milk if you must, but at least be aware that it is hard to digest, and it is not the universal source of goodness that people believe.

Two hundred years ago they almost certainly did. But two hundred years ago most Europeans did not have clean water and it was quite difficult to get hold of other calcium sources like fresh green vegetables and fish regularly in Winter. Life has changed an awful lot and the image of dairy food as being wholly good in our culture, which was developed over decades and centuries, is possibly inaccurate. When was the last time a big study was done about the advantages and disadvantages of dairy in diet?

Mind you, I'd hate to do without cheese myself. DD is not too pleased either.
