Have a look at what Matthew d'Ancona says in today's Telegraph about Labour toadying up to the Muslim vote.

Here

I don't vote Labour or Con but think it is interesting. I wish I'd caught Paxo's interview on Newsnight (which they refer to in the article) with the bloke who organised Friday's rally.
When he was asked if he wouldn't be happier in a country with Sharia law he said
'Who said to you that you own Britain anyway? Britain belongs to Allah.'

He then said
'If I go to the jungle,Iam not going to live like the animals. I'm going to propogate what I believe to be a superior way of life.'

He also told Sayeeda Warsai (Con. vice chairperson) appearing on the same programme that she wasn't entitled to speak as she didn't have a veil on.

What a charmer eh??

Dinosaur, when you have something even vaguely useful to say,I may attempt a simple dialogue with you. Until then, run away and play, there's a dear.

If you hurry, you may catch Northerner haranguing Expat re her conditioner,or gscrym bullying Tamba on an equally pressing issue.

Rhubarb this just registered with me. You said:

"children of priests are genetically mutated"

Is that a Catholic doctrine?

Rhubarb · 08/02/2006 13:50

Absolutely PD! It is the hand of God no less! Surely you've probably met one of these people, they usually belong to the Lib Dems and are destined to forever wander this planet not quite knowing who they are or where they are going.

peacedove · 08/02/2006 13:52

Rhubarb If that is true, there would be evidence in the DNA records.

Rhubarb · 08/02/2006 13:55

You know the power of the Vatican. They cannot have children wandering around claiming to have been fathered by priests! So the mums are usually packed off to loony bins and the DNA records are altered.

Naming no names but rumour has it.........Charles Kennedy.

peacedove · 08/02/2006 13:56

so are the sins of the fathers visited upon their children?

peacedove · 08/02/2006 13:57

Oh God, you mean we have to start with His Holiness the Pope first!

Rhubarb · 08/02/2006 13:58

oh yes! That absolutely is catholic doctrine. These poor children will never be happy or find peace. I hear the Vatican are in talks about giving priests vascetomies to ensure this is stopped now!

Piffle · 08/02/2006 13:58

Ah yes Paxos interview with Mr Choudhry was a revelation wasn't it?
I think it important ot know that people have these views
Keep your friends close, and you enemies closer...
Yes indeed

Rhubarb · 08/02/2006 14:00

Paxo? Those people who make gravy?

Caligula · 08/02/2006 14:00

LOL at Charles Kennedy

peacedove · 08/02/2006 14:06

Rhubarb We Borgs will leave His Holiness alone, as we respect religions and religious figures, but can we have the priests' children for Borging? They are of no use to the Catholic Church, I see.

Rhubarb · 08/02/2006 14:10

Fine, have 'em! Charles Kennedy is all yours!

peacedove · 08/02/2006 14:13

Its a deal. All the children of priests (and nums - I am sure they aren't missing out on the fun), are ours henceforth.

Deal made public on the MN site.

Caligula · 08/02/2006 14:22

I've just read that Telegraph piece and one thing struck me forcibly.

"It takes a lot of courage for a Muslim woman to say such a thing. Ms Warsi's intervention made the anodyne remarks of white male ministers seem all the more cowardly. Every politician, as Mr Blair observed a decade ago, resembles Pilate. But not all of them, when the moment of decision arrives, choose to wash their hands"

There was a time when we all took it for granted that you didn't need courage to say what you thought. I do hope Sayeeda Warsi stays safe.

peacedove · 08/02/2006 14:37

Rhubarb you know something, by the deal we made bout the children of priests and nuns, you are ours, too.

JanH · 08/02/2006 14:55

Do have a listen to The World Tonight from last night - Hamza's staunch and glib defender on there is Mr Choudhury (assume it's the same one as Paxo's).

Listen from about 13 mins on, there are some comments from people who attend Finsbury Park Mosque before the interview with Mr Choudhury and Shahid Malik (Muslim Labour MP) - love the way he slides around the direct quotes from Hamza.

Blu · 08/02/2006 15:15

yes, well he would. Anjem Choudhary was the well-known right hand man to Omar Bakri Mohammed.
ALL thses peopl are condemned by the Council of British Muslims, the Muslim Parliament and other muslim special interest groups such as Muslims in media (I forget their proper title) for e.g

These people are a menace, and a nuisance, and some are serious criminals / terrorists - but they only managed to pull less than 400 people out on a demo that (apart from inflammatory banners) was non-violent. What on earth is all this about? No-one is defending them, not PD, not Saadia....what is all this about?

Caligula · 08/02/2006 15:22

It's about environment Blu.

Aloha's post on the other thread expressed it eloquently. It's about creating a climate of fear where people are afraid to speak out or publish. And where government can railroad through further restrictions on liberty. And where you have unpsoken, tacit agreements not to rock the boat. So open debate becomes impossible. That for me, is what it's all about.

JanH · 08/02/2006 15:36

But what are they after, this "menace, and a nuisance, and some are serious criminals / terrorists"? Why are they like this, and why are they doing this, as it isn't truly anything to do with Islam - are they just psychopaths? What outcome do they want?

moondog · 08/02/2006 15:55

It's called a discussion Blu.
Like a good walk it often meanders.
That's the fun of it.

Beetroot · 08/02/2006 15:57

choudery said he wants to take over the UK and make it muslim

peacedove · 08/02/2006 15:59

That is what I have been asking all along. Why doesn't the government publish or provide access to their documents. That way it would be easier for maintream Muslims to refute their arguments.
