Does anyone who live locally know what's going on? Have many of the travellers left? Will there be a horrible fight at 9am tomorrow?

Strangely, all our local farms are blocking access to their fields...... No travellers will be able to get in them!

Wonder if this is happening elsewhere!

RogerMelly · 23/09/2011 16:22

yep, I live in the east (not essex) and loads of ploughing equipment etc has been put on any gaps and I did find it a little strange!

Does anyone else get BBC look east news?

was v funny as people had emailed in about dale farm last night and they read them out and it was stuff

'is there no more news than about dale farm, fed up of it'
'fed up of hearing about dale farm'
;'shut up about dale farm'

etc etc :o

GenevieveHawkings · 23/09/2011 17:02

Where do the travellers get the money from for those Court cases? It must run into hundreds of thousands of £££s. I suppose anonymous sympathetic benefactors are footing the bill?

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 17:04

The amount of extortion lol...have you read the link I put on before your so funny. Small minded people trying to wind other people up....you seem very distressed about the situation are you alright maybe you need to chill out a little. Instead of swearing at people just make sure you get your facts right lol !!!!

Whilst chilling out think about this...you show me a property developer who would walk away from a sight without a profit. I think ull find that difficult. These people are ring FORCED off there land and out of there homes so I hope they did as for six million to right if it was me I'd of asked for more !

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 17:07

Yep just like the illegal immigrants and benfit scroungers.....o no wait that's the tax payers who foot that isn't it !!!

Funniest thing is, is that the council are spending tax Payers money a whole £18 million of it to carry out this stupid absurd eviction. No ones asking to stay though my opinion is they should be able to. Provide another legal sight for them to go to and there's no problem simple as.

mankyminks · 23/09/2011 17:10

oooaaarrr proper property developers are we now? Developers would also have to accept to come away with a loss if it turns out their planning permission is rejected and they gambled wrong. Proper property developers would never be so stupid to buy greenbelt land and think they have a hope in hell to get planning permission on it. One of the reasons it's so CHEAP.

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 17:21

Have you read the link from the guardian lol u clown ??? N what proper property developers just like tescos ???. You have no argument here you are a biggot simple as that. There are people in this country who claim benefits an have access to all our services an give nothing back to there community. These people have bought there own land as they were encouraged by councils to do so, want no public hand outs and you all think it's ok to go into there homes and remove them whilst offering no alternative ??? How is that right. The residents them selves have said they are willing to move when given somewhere else to go why is that so unreasonable ???

mankyminks · 23/09/2011 17:25

Site in Liverpool been offered and perfectly legal. Is that so unreasonable?? Nope, don't read the Guardian.

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 17:35

One or two plots there are 400 people 51 plots. Near there families near there schools. If ur not willing to read up on the full story don't feel ur able to pass judgement or male comments !

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 17:36

The reason all farm land is being blocked off aroun Britain is because these families have no were else to go !!

WhollyGhost · 23/09/2011 17:42

I wish I had the right to live near hundreds of my extended family. But I don't since it is not part of my heritage.

Neither is it part of Traveller heritage. Historically Travellers did not have such large camps. Demanding that they be provided, along with facilities is outrageous.

mankyminks · 23/09/2011 17:43

male comments? The reason all farmland is being blocked off around Britain is that the owners of the land don't want anyone parking their caravan illegally on their land and then face a Dale Farm like drawn out legal battle to get them off again.

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 17:48

So you no a lot about travellers heritage do you ??? I doubt that very much from your previous posts. If you watch the news and keep up to date with what is happening you will find that there has not been any offer to provide enough plots AT ALL wether dotted round the country or not. I'm also sure you wouldn't like it if your child was FORCED to move schools friends etc because that is what is happening here. These are people like you and me no different !!!

I for one would do anything to keep a roof over my daughters head what are these people supposed to do if there are not enough plots for even a quarter of the travelling community across the country...what do you suggest the right thing to do is ???

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 17:50

Again Mankyminks what's your suggestion to resolve the situation I'd love to know your all so quick to point out the wrong doing but no one seems to be looking at a fair solution ????

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 17:51

I completely agree that's why the farm
Land is blocked off as THERE IS NO WERE ELSE FOR THEM TO GO !

mankyminks · 23/09/2011 17:53

I didn't say I knew a lot about Travellers heritage. My children have had to move schools and make new friends several times through their young lives. Trust me they haven't unduly suffered, children are very adaptable.

As for the shortage of available plots, buy land with planning permission on it.Will be a bit more expensive but so worth it don't you agree?

Surely that must be the way forward rather than keep messing about on illegal plots?

utahforever · 23/09/2011 18:00

I don't know the solution for this.

However, they have built illegally and cannot remain. Perhaps during the last 10 years they have been at Dale farm they should have continued to communicate with the government/council/public for approved sites - instead of fighting to stay on a greenbelt site that doesn't have planning permission.

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 18:09

It's clear you don't know about travelling heritage. If it was as easy as buying land and getting planning permission, when your a traveller it is so difficult, and this thread proves this, they are such a misunderstood community tarred with a bad brush. Do you think that if it was that easy there would be such uproar about the whole situation do you think these people want to put there children an elderly people trough all this. This happens so much but Dale farm has had a lot of publicity that's why everyone all of a sudden thinks it's ok to comment on it. I'm sure your children and yourself have never been FORCED to move schools.

Do you think it's easy to get a child who is a traveller into a school it's hard enough for me n you it's ten times harder for them, and then when they are accepted from a paper work perspective do you think they and there families are excepted by there local communities from this thread alone you can see how difficult it is.

I have this knowledge as my family are Irish travellers though I was bought up settled in a house so I see both sides and have witnessed with my own eyes the prejudice that travelling people meet in a day to day basis.

The Dale farm residents are willing to go but surely the land is at much better use now and is much better for the local residents than when it was a scrap yard....that the council used to dump on. See the guardian link in my previous post.

On the news today there was a local resident saying how he can't sell his house because the site backs on to it. Would it be acceptable for me to go on television and say I can't sell my house because an Asian, black, Italian family back onto my garden. I think not that would be racism.

What shocks me about this discussion is that there's not one person with an insight into these people's lives or anyone saying ok they were wrong but so are the councils for not providing enough sites. Instead people think it's rude how travelling people use the NHS and there children go to our schools and it's an absolute disgrace

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 18:10

Utahforever do you now they didn't do that ??? What do you think the whole fight is about for gods sake they just want somewhere else to go !

mankyminks · 23/09/2011 18:15

Dale you're 18.09 post is great. If only the settled community and the Travellers community could have a civilised debate like that there would be a lot less misunderstanding from both sides I'm sure.

bubbles4 · 23/09/2011 18:19

mankyminks are you local to this site?

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 18:23

Not sure wat that means Mankyminks ???

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 18:26

Ahhh I'm with you lol. Thankyou I agree but from someone who sees both sides I have to say the issue here lies with the settled community as I've said the travelling community is very misunderstood I personally can't blame travellers from keeping themselves to themselves after what I have witnessed in the past. And all because of there heritage it's incredibly sad !

onagar · 23/09/2011 18:55

"the council are spending tax Payers money a whole £18 million of it to carry out this stupid...."

The travellers illegal activities are causing all this money to be wasted. We could have just moved you all off in the first place and put anyone who got in the way in prison. It means that the society you are cheating is better morally than you are.
