Does anyone who live locally know what's going on? Have many of the travellers left? Will there be a horrible fight at 9am tomorrow?

Onagar,I have contacted MNHQ about personal attacks on yourself and me. Looks like they have deleted offending posts.

WhollyGhost, would you be able to give us a link?

BetsyBoop · 23/09/2011 14:14

Just catching up on this thread, I can't believe the vile personal attacks against some posters, but as always it says a lot more about the attacker than those being attacked....

See HERE for arial photos showing the legal/illegal bits.

BetsyBoop · 23/09/2011 14:15

arial aerial, damn fingers Grin

MrsRhettButler · 23/09/2011 14:21

Well it looks better now than it did with the scrapyard there surely? Confused it wasnt exactly greenbelt in the first place was it.

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 14:26

Gosh we've gone from the planning police to the spellin police lol. Bottom line is Basildon council should take responsibilty and give the people somewere else to go especially as no council has been able to meet the targets set for legal travelling sites. And yes it looks much better than ot did when it was a scrap yard but the people running that were not travellers so that was ok !!

Dalefarmdolly...... I don't think councils anywhere ever meet their targets over anything

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 14:42

No excuse it's a fact that the legal sites provided across the board is no were near enough for a quarter of the travelling population. I'm sure it would be massively different if even half of the English, Asian etc community were in the same position !!!

mankyminks · 23/09/2011 14:57

Dale,I have read the whole thread thank you,why am I as bad as my 'abusers'? Please explain.

BetsyBoop · 23/09/2011 14:58

Local councils don't meet any of their "housing" targets

There are targets for building new affordable housing
There are targets for building new social housing
There are targets for improving existing social housing to become "Decent Homes" standard
By & large all unmet

There are 5m people on the social housing waiting list in the UK & over 100,000 families in temporary accommodation (usually bed & breakfast)

Do the homeless families affected by this buy a plot of land & build a house on it without getting planning permission? No. Generally they try their best to get on with life as best they can, even if that is in a B&B (which is not "culturally appropriate" housing either BTW) often miles from their friends & family & means their kids change schools, etc. It's crap people have to live like this, but at least they have a roof over their head. Travellers aren't the only ones with housing issues.

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 15:06

They are the only ones who are not provided for as you say people are even placed in b&bs. The reason for this is if the council were to turn a family away without providing any option of housing what so ever there would be a huge up roar simple as that. There's been no proper alternative offering a traveller a house would be the same as offering a non travelling person a caravan in a field !

m.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/sep/16/dale-farm-concreted-basildon-council-owner?cat=uk&type=article might be an idea to have a read of this !

Are thick or just plain rude every traveller pays council tax on the Dale farm site this has been confirmed numerous times. Coccyx don't comment on something you know nothing about these people do travel so please do your research before you comment on complex issues such as this you clearly do not have a clue !!!!!

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 15:32

And these not so travelling travellers are try not people are they not entitled to be treated as equals isn't the main point bein made on this thread that everyone should be treated the same. Your a biggot small minded and clearly do not have a clue !

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 15:33

Should we now make all other minorities who don't work and don't pay taxes homeless too. Asian, English, Jamaican ???? Is that what your saying coccyx

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 15:37

These people are not asking for council handouts they've bought there own land and don't expect any council funding whatsoever !

onagar · 23/09/2011 15:38

Except they tried to get £6 million to leave yes?

onagar · 23/09/2011 15:39

Mr Sheridan, 42, spokesman for the illegal site, suggested the huge pay-off after learning of the spiralling costs of eviction.

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 15:54

Ha wouldn't make more sense than spending 18 million ??? And that has not been confirmed so again please do your research !!!

GypsyMoth · 23/09/2011 15:59

Not confirmed by whom?

onagar · 23/09/2011 16:00

It was confirmed by the council officials who he made the offer to.

And no we don't give in to blackmail.

Bet you wish you hadn't brought up handouts now.

Dalefarmdolly · 23/09/2011 16:04

No it hasn't been confirmed at all it was said on dispatches that it is "rumoured" to be 6 million again more research needed....ill informed !
