Nope David said Black culture..... is paedophilia Catholic culture?

JosieZ · 21/08/2011 08:50

Yes. He was talking about black culture, ' a particular sort of violent, destructive, nihilistic, gangster culture has become the fashion'.

I thought his response in The Telegraph was fascinating. Particulary the bit about the response of the politicians to the dockers marching in support of Enoch Powell. Put everything in perspective for me.

Starkeys a pompous cretin , amazed there's people on here defending him

Like Enoch powell he's an intelligent man who's all too aware of the impact of his words. Powells speech, days after the assassination of Martin Luther King was designed to inflame and divide without adding to a rational and cogent debate on race relations. He did more than anyone to toxify discussion of imigration and set back race relations for years.

He's an attention seeking nob and was just trying to make yet another pointless and inflammatory statement (like when he characterised Scotland and Ireland as "feeble little countries")

I do hope he realises that's he's now being held up as a hero by racist scumbags up and down the country (who im guessing may be less well disposed to him once they discover he's gay)

I think Starkey is a very interesting speaker, he is brill on question time.

sharpey178 · 31/08/2011 09:43

He's a historian, I don't know why they let him comment on current affairs he knows nothing about it! Did you see him on that Jamie Oliver thing about schools he clearly had no idea how young people think so why newsnight thought it a good idea to get him on I've no idea...

ExpatAgain · 01/09/2011 15:38

He IS an historian, just not a C20/C21st specialist..He was one of my lecturers at university (before he became famous and had just written a couple of textbooks, and a bloody good one at that ...

forehead · 09/09/2011 22:05

He is an ignorant, attention seeking twat.
