Anyone in Hackney? How is it looking there?

Dh just got home cycled past big police hummer type blacked out cars... oh and some youths throwing bins and woman with baby saying it 'will kick off tonight' .

Hope it starts to be turned around by police.. big water spray or whatever they use.

What I find so shocking is the number of police to the number of looters/rioters. So few police to so many of them. What sanctions do they have when they are so outnumbered?

I love my area. I'm so sad.

Avoid Piccadilly- take the Hammersmith and city line to Hammersmith and change there for the Piccadilly line to take you to Earl's court.

It's so stupid and sad. Why ruin your neighbours' businesses and homes? I'm really worrying about my friend's ground floor flat about 3 minutes from the current riots in Hackney. :(

It's mindless violence. It's disgusting. These people aren't Londoners they're scum.
If they haven't already it's time to get those big water cannons out. And hell if that doesn't work bring on the tear gas. I know some people may find that extreme but this has to stop. This is criminal violence for violence sake. Looting!!!! I mean FFS!

I agree about the army - send them in. I feel upset - no longer live in London but I was born there and it's home. Have lived in NOrth, South, East and West London. how dare they do this!!

What annoys the hell out of me regarding bringing the Army in though is the Army are stretched they're fighting a war in Afghanistan, they're in Libya, they're being made redundant and are being replaced by reservists. They're there when the firemen go on strike, they're there when we suffer natural disasters (flooding etc...) and they'll be there when they're called on to help the police maintain order.
And the thanks they get! I suppose that's another story.
If this carries on though and spreads then it's clear the met can't do this alone... Extra police from elsewhere and then worse case Army!

Why? When did this kind of behaviour become acceptable? How are 10 year olds involved in this? Why are they not at home eating their dinner? Where are their parents.
