MissBetsyTrotwood · 08/08/2011 18:20

Oh good luck Dr Polidori . Keep us posted, won't you? We're just around the corner if you need us.

EdithWeston · 08/08/2011 18:21

I wonder if OYBBK is around? Any chance of heavy rain over London? Preferably now, lasting until at least midnight.

NLurkerispackingforholiday · 08/08/2011 18:24

This is dreadful. Hope everybody is staying safe.

DrPolidori · 08/08/2011 18:27

aw, thanks betsy.

EdithWeston · 08/08/2011 18:34

It's on the BBC 1 News now - 200 arrests today.

Ongoing in Hackney - nothing yet about Lewisham.

DrPolidori · 08/08/2011 18:35

the woman she they just talked to is a friend, I know the shopkeeper of the electrical good store...its surreal.

alistron1 · 08/08/2011 18:37

Rumour has it on twitter (and was validated by a tweet from WM Police) that it's going to kick off in birmingham tonight.

Mitmoo · 08/08/2011 18:43

Bus set on fire in Peckham just being reported on Sky.

I hope it doesn't spread outside of London. If Brum kick off we'll have morons in every city out ruining out cities.

Get the army in now.

Mitmoo · 08/08/2011 18:44

I'm not sure what I am seeing a line of flames can ebe seen in Lewisham probably a roy of buses or cars. Wankers!

Mitmoo · 08/08/2011 18:45

They are setting vehicles alight in Lewisham. If any b fired my car that would be my family totally screwed and one has autism the other disabled with heart disease. Barstewards.

Mitmoo · 08/08/2011 18:46

Someone or some people will lose their lives

Pan · 08/08/2011 18:46

Am sure ministers will be considering asking the army to have a role.

would all of this lead to a reconsideration of cuts in the police funding.

DrPolidori · 08/08/2011 19:01

helicopters have gone for the moment. Hope that's it. But fear it may not be.

mama2plusbump · 08/08/2011 19:03

Harris got looted

ClaireDeLoon · 08/08/2011 19:05

Lewisham? Which part does anyone know?

AngryFeet · 08/08/2011 19:05

I am in Croydon and they are ready for trouble here. This is just madness. Yes they need to involve the armed forces now!

EdithWeston · 08/08/2011 19:09

Ch4 reporter in Hackney characterised the situation there as "fluid, volatile and violent".

midnightexpress · 08/08/2011 19:09

Oh dear. I lived for many years in E5 (other end of the country now) - so sad to see this happening to local businesses - like they haven't got things hard enough atm Sad.

The Blackberry thing - apparently (according to the BBC) their messaging service is much more difficult to trace than FB/Twitter, so people are using it to organise the violence.

Morons.

GypsyMoth · 08/08/2011 19:09

do we have any army left here to send in??

DrPolidori · 08/08/2011 19:13

yes, a relative just called me to say she saw blokes mooching past their house carrying flatscreen tvs. They are so nice at harris' a real, local, family
business.

NLurkerispackingforholiday · 08/08/2011 19:14

Why can't the Blackberry network be shut down? Surely the scale of the disruption would justify a shut off? Otherwise we'll be moving towards curfews and army on the street.

tethersend · 08/08/2011 19:14

I am about 10 mins from Mare street and a bit nervous, although no shops nearby and the helicopters have gone...

Pan · 08/08/2011 19:15

if you go to BBC website there is a running tweet with updates as they happen - thinknig about you folk in Sth London.

Awomancalledhorse · 08/08/2011 19:17

Rumour that Woolwich is next.
Hope everyone living nearby/working tonight is as unaffected as they can be.
