Not that I ever really got it (holidays maybe for a bot of a laugh) but no more.

I wasn;t bothered too much by the celebs (though can see why they were obviously!) but to do that, its beyond disgusting.

But wiltl anything actually happen, or will they just repeat the usual lessons will be learnt shit

OK, I may not be a criminal if my staff commit criminal acts while I run an organisation, but I would certainly consider myself professionally responsible and resign!

However, I fail to see how she couldn't have known where enough money to pay for a huge scale of phone hacking anad police payments were going, so I would be v surprised if she wasn't taciltly sanctioning bribery with omoney she was responsible for. Which sounds illegal to me.

And yes, what on EARTH was she doing changing her name? Bad judgement through and through.

There had to be a paper trail to the money paid to the police, does anyone know what kinds of sums of money were involved?

Ponders · 10/07/2011 15:34

individuals got thousands I believe, mitmoo

supposedly it was handed over in cash at a McD's drive-through so finding where it came from & where it went would be pretty hard at this stage I imagine

Ponders · 10/07/2011 15:37

I mean if written records were kept, & if they still exist, they would surely be in code, wouldn't they?

Eddie Mair was funny about this talking to a retired police bloke this week - the police bloke asked (possibly rhetorically) "where would you put that kind of cash?" & Eddie said "I was hoping you'd be able to tell us" Wink - under the mattress seemed to be the best way to conceal that you'd ever had it

Mitmoo · 10/07/2011 16:04

I'd also imagine that anything that goes through the books would be coded but 1000s of pounds in cash would be hard to cover up. It would invovle a few people, the Finance Director would have to know because he's responsible for the cashflow, who ever authorised it would have to know, whoever handed it over etc. But tracking that back to exact people today

Mitmoo · 10/07/2011 16:05

whoops pressed send too do, track back to people from today's date would be very hard I'd imagine.
