Go on, have a guess then open the link.

Jeez

Some lovely MNers spends HOURS on here refuting assertions that pro bfers do FFs down, what a waste of time

''It's a shame for the baby to be formula feed, eh''

bloody hell

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 10/10/2010 18:29

Actually I think I am more annoyed with him appearing to drink an unsettled pint of guinness.

nameymcnamechange · 10/10/2010 18:29

Pofaced: it is your opinion I am really interested in. Because you are a poster I always but always nod along with.

Why did you post in solidarity with op? What am I missing here?

Prime Minister arranges photo shoot showing him to be lovely hands on cuddly dad.

Even though he is VIP and about to make the biggest speech of his political career.

Meanwhile, his Government are about to implement family and child unfriendly swingeing cuts.

So he is a hypocrite?

Is this news?

and what does it have to do with what is in the bottle?

Sorry to pick you out. But I am truly interested in how a person can align themselves with this sort of op, when in every respect they seem to be an utterly reasonable person.

Feel free to ignore me, tho! I know this is a bit much Grin.

I agree - shockingly pulled pint of Guinness. maybe it's two cans in one glass.

Caz10 · 10/10/2010 18:46

I thought Starlight's post was spot on actually!

Poor Mrs C can do whatever the blardy hell she likes.

But there is NO photo of the PM, esp a planned, posed effort like this, that hasn't been planned and scrutinised with the aim of putting a message over. Sadly they have chosen to reinforce the message that ff is best, trotting out the old line that without it then poor old Daddy will not be able to bond, blah blah blah.

PosieParker · 10/10/2010 18:47

Sam's breasts are her own business, up to her if she does/doesn't want to or can't breastfeed.....it would be good if she did though.

expatinscotland · 10/10/2010 18:52

Yes, formula-feeding, drinking in the afternoon around the kid.

They're a right pair of chavs, eh?

:o

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 10/10/2010 18:54

"Sadly they have chosen to reinforce the message that ff is best, trotting out the old line that without it then poor old Daddy will not be able to bond"

How on earth did you infer that from the article linked???

Nancy66 · 10/10/2010 18:54

...and Sam's got a tattoo.

Rindercella · 10/10/2010 18:56

Foxy: "I had no intention good or bad when linking this."

Absolute bollocks.

Rollmops · 10/10/2010 18:57

Utter nonsense, Caz..., bottles do not equal formula as so many mothers, working mothers particularly, express and it's a widely known practice.
What if the message was intended to read - being a hands on dad is important - given the epidemic of runaway daddies of numerous fatherless babies scattered around this country? Hmm

expatinscotland · 10/10/2010 18:59

Oh, yes, definite chavdom, Nancy.

President Obama's been pictured drinking and he smokes cigarettes.

He's a chav, too.

violethill · 10/10/2010 19:00

OP - I bet you're proud to have put such a negative message out about the issue of bf eh?

Nancy66 · 10/10/2010 19:00

Dave used to smoke

Sam used to have a pierced nose.

pond life.

Caz10 · 10/10/2010 19:02

I know that rollmops, and you know that, but I would imagine if you did a random survey outwith mumsnet, the majority of people would not connect seeing a bottle with EBM. I do agree the message was probably meant to be about hands on dads, but there are plenty of other things he could have been doing!

penona · 10/10/2010 19:02

Judging by what's in camerons glass, am guessing chocolate milkshake. No way is that a Guinness!

expatinscotland · 10/10/2010 19:02

Prince Harry smokes.

He and William were formula fed.

They're chavs.

expatinscotland · 10/10/2010 19:05

It looks like a draft Guinness that's not ready.

BetsyBoop · 10/10/2010 19:05

Well quite frankly it's none of our business.

We don'r know what is in the bottle anyway, could be EBM

I exclusively bf both of mine, but not sure how I'd feel doing it in SamCam's shoes, with the world's media watching on...

This thread makes me go Hmm and Biscuit

MrsTicklemouse · 10/10/2010 19:07

just so you know I expressed every feed for several months when DS2 was in hospital, sometimes it was almost like water, sometimes it was like jersey cream!

and just like everyone else no I don't care how their baby is being fed, what a strange thread to start

In a world where all our children play with dolls who come with bottles, I really don't think the sight of the prime minister feeding his child with a bottle is going to make a huge amount of difference - rather a daft investment by Avent etc Starlight - I don't think for a moment that was the case.

We live in a culture that doesn't value breastfeeding as it should and doesn't support breastfeeding mums enough BUT attacking one person for their personal choice does nothing about that. In fact it removes support from them.
There are women who post on here asking for help because they've FF in the past and they want to breastfeed the new baby. How much courage does it take to do that - when you see threads like this? Talking about FF as a shame and as though the choice is totally David Cameron's - and that he's doing what suits his political book. That's insulting to Samantha's intelligence and to his humanity. I would rather make love to Ann Widdicombe than vote for him - but I think he's a loving father.

Xenia · 10/10/2010 19:21

I think it's a bad PR Image to put out and they should say it is breast milk (if as I assume it will be it is)

MisSalLaneous · 10/10/2010 19:21

I couldn't care less how a well-informed woman feeds her baby, no. She chose what is best for their situation and it has nothing at all to do with their friends and family, never mind random strangers on the internet. Even if said person is PM's wife.

OP's like this is more likely to put people who are unsure off breastfeeding than persuade them, btw. I know it would put me off - I wouldn't want to be associated with people like OP, I hate judgemental, full-of-themselves cowards. Luckily I know most bf promotors would never dream of saying or even thinking this way.
