In case you haven't noticed Florence and Samantha Cameron are not members of the government. It was a photo op. DC happened to be feeding Florence. It looked sweet. They thought it would play nicely with the voters. Silly them, eh?

Samantha Cameron has lost a child, had a pregnancy, an unexpected C section early delivery and had to cope with her husband becoming PM in 18 months. Frankly she doesn't have to worry about your delicate sensibilities and what you do or don't think she should be promoting. She's not your poster girl for breast feeding or anything else.

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 22:06

what a microcosm of mn conspiracy theorists think is fortunately not replicated in rl

no one gives a flying fuck about how anyone else feeds their baby

on on mn are such things enacted

in most cases a baby has bottle in its yap and no one looks twice or thinks owt of it

only on mn do the hackles rise

gaelicsheep · 10/10/2010 22:08

It's not about promoting breastfeeding. It's about not continuing to normalise formula feeding. But anyhow it clearly wasn't thought about at all - I don't think for a moment there was any intention beyond shoing the involved dad, as you say.

A nappy change would've made him seem even more down to earth (runny yellow breastfed poo down the legs perhaps?)

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 22:11

for the majority of mums ff is the norm.majority babies are ff.but this photo has nothing to do with mode of feeding or promotion.only in lala land would one construe sinister connotations in that photo

2shoes · 10/10/2010 22:12

scottishmummy well said

piscesmoon · 10/10/2010 22:13

I think that it is only on MN that you could get such a thread as this! Most women are intelligent enough to work things out for themselves! They are not influenced by public figures and they couldn't care less what other parents are doing!

gaelicsheep · 10/10/2010 22:13

As I've said I don't construe any sinister connotations (can't speak for others further down thread), just mild incompetence.

nameymcnamechange · 10/10/2010 22:17

I had Guinness in hospital, post c-section, in 2001.

EdgarAllInPink · 10/10/2010 22:20

"They are not influenced by public figures and they couldn't care less what other parents are doing!"

so all that money spent on celeb-endorsements is wasted?

half of AIBU would vanish tomorrow too.

EdgarAllInPink · 10/10/2010 22:22

i fancy a guiness now too. but in a pub, rather than over my laptop. that's advertising success for you.

piscesmoon · 10/10/2010 22:25

'so all that money spent on celeb-endorsements is wasted?

Absolutely-a complete waste!

snigger · 10/10/2010 22:26

I think you'll find, particularly in my neck of the woods, Guinness are indeed running the country. Or rather, they're running the oiks running the country.

There's worse outcomes for a small corner of Scotland than stout-fuelled gentleman farmers navigating their combines into hedges.

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 22:27

celeb endorsements only work if you like the schleb.otherwise yep total waste of money

cant stand keira once a tree knightly.so no chanel for me thanks

dont like kerry "my drug hell" katona so not bothered who she endorsed

piscesmoon · 10/10/2010 22:34

Anything endorsed by any celebrity would have me doing the opposite! (If I noticed in the first place-I tend to mentally switch off anyway)

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 22:36

that travel ad with louise rednapp and her man was risible, dont think bookings soared as a result

nameymcnamechange · 10/10/2010 22:38

Yep, celeb endorsements can backfire hugely. You'll not catch me buying Elnett hairspray any more.

And as for Activia yogurts - aaarrrggghhh!

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 22:40

anything with big haired batterer is a no sale for me

expatinscotland · 10/10/2010 23:02

A nappy change with bf poo running down the legs?

F.F.S.

Only on here would anyone even spend time thinking so much about this.

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 23:06

lol,you forgot to add the colour and consistency as the poster did.yellow and runny i believe

expatinscotland · 10/10/2010 23:12

Yes, that would be such an excellent photo. Can't show her lulu, though, because then they'll be accused of peddling child porn.

Jesus wept.

Almost as funny as the thread about how shocking it was for a man to drink inside his own home at 3.30 in the afternoon when his 6-week-old baby was in the room.

Bet that OP has never lived in Scotland :o.

Curiousmama · 10/10/2010 23:17

why does op have a pic of her placenta on her profile? Hmm

Theincrediblesulk1 · 10/10/2010 23:31

we should ban these stupid threads they suck, and are not even remotely interesting!

scottishmummy · 10/10/2010 23:33

no dont ban them.great to laugh at the hard of finking

Theincrediblesulk1 · 10/10/2010 23:37

Oh they do my head in though! if i hear one more martyr mother earth spouting shit about someone for feeding their own child i will actually scream!

People should mind their own business!

cupofcoffee · 10/10/2010 23:37

Well just looked through this thread but by now anything I've got to say about the bottle feed pic has probably already been said. (not that I think I had more to say than a Biscuit ) but now I've had to have a look at this placenta pic others have commented on! Never mind why is the pic on the profile, I've seen all sorts of things on profiles, but I am curious what was it doing in the fridge for a week and what did OP do with it after that??
