MilaMae, what utterly stupid, mean and cruel post.
YOu are beyond contempt.

solo · 11/10/2010 00:06

It's the £749 Paul Smith dress that raised my eyebrows...how the other half live eh?! and the bottle looks like Guinness to me Wink

Ronaldinhio · 11/10/2010 00:07

this picture wouldn't make me bottle or breast feed
nor would it make me vote tory
think more or less of the camerons
fly to the moon

i do think "ohhhh nice little baby, hope they aren't as knackered as i am atm"

why can't we leave people alone to try to do the best for their family

TwoIfBySea · 11/10/2010 00:38

Perhaps, like many other women, SamCam cannot breastfeed her baby. Perhaps she would not appreciate the preaching speculation and fishwife fervour of the anti-formula brigade.

Thanks to the squawk that arises every time bottle-feeding is mentioned those of us who had to are given scant information to make an informed choice. Yes, of course breast is best but it isn't always an option.

Beating women around the head because they can't fulfil their babies nutritional needs only makes matters a lot worse. Well done, you'll be glad to hear that it adds to the anguish and guilt.

saffy85 · 11/10/2010 05:40

As others have said, does it fucking matter?

I'm no Tory supporter but come on, does it really matter in the grand scheme of things whether the lovely Florence is being fed a bottle of SMA Gold or a bottle of mum's house white? Hmm

Hullygully · 11/10/2010 07:47

No. It doesn't matter.

What matters is the thinking behind the staging of the photo. What matters is the pictorial demonstration of the thinking of those that are deciding policy for all of us.

Northernlurker · 11/10/2010 07:49

But Hully - what if she isn't breastfeeding? What's she supposed to do - fake it for the pictures because it's in the best interest of the voters? Hmm

Hullygully · 11/10/2010 07:53

No. The bf/ff is irrelevant. What matters is the discussion and decision to pose him with the baby with a bottle, and then with the pint of Guinness. That's what they think will make them look "ordinary" and down with the folks. They are trying to portray themselves as something they are not so that when we are all shafted for every last penny, old Dave, Sam, George and Nick aren't lynched for being the rich posh selfish twats that they are.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 11/10/2010 08:02

"That's what they think will make them look "ordinary" and down with the folks."

I know a few rich people and some of them drink guiness and some of them bottle fed. What do you rich people do in your world?

Northernlurker · 11/10/2010 08:05

It doesn't matter how rich, selfish, posh or twattish they are (and I don't disagree with your assessment) the baby still needs to be fed and milk from a bottle is an appropriate way to feed her. It's also a method used by many, many mothers for many, many reasons so the impact this will have on anybody is surely negligible. It's not like he was photographed taking her to soft play hell.

Hullygully · 11/10/2010 08:08

Ok. They are just a lovely ordinary family struggling to get by and doing their best like the rest of us.

They aren't going to cut this country in half and bring it to its knees. Oh no.

Have it your own way. And enjoy.

piscesmoon · 11/10/2010 08:08

'What matters is the thinking behind the staging of the photo. What matters is the pictorial demonstration of the thinking of those that are deciding policy for all of us'

Why does that matter? It is a simple photograph! I really think that this is MN at it's very worst! Judgemental, holier than thou, possibly hurtful for people reading it-all about something that doesn't matter in the least-to anyone! (or anyone who hasn't got better things to think about).

Hulababy · 11/10/2010 08:10

This thread shows that some peole will just pick up on anythmg to have a dig at the PM.

How they chose to feed their baby is absolutely irrelevant to us.

We know nothing of their circumstances.
We do not know what is in the bottle.
It is nothing to do with politics.

Sorry, but this is just ridiculous.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 11/10/2010 08:11

"Ok. They are just a lovely ordinary family struggling to get by and doing their best like the rest of us.

you can be rich and lovely and ordinary, even if you aren't struggling, it doesn't somehow make you better or superior to be struggling.

They might be about to cut the country in half BUT THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BOTTLE FEEDING A BABY AND DRINKING GUINESS.

The post just makes you sound bitter and twisted rather than having a coherent argument.

Hulababy · 11/10/2010 08:12

Any oneone who think that ANY poarty wouldn't be making such massive cuts and changes right now are incredibly niave.

Our economy could not go on in the way it was doing.

I didn't vote for our current Government but I am willing to give them a chance to drag us out of the mess we are currently in. Let's face it - the last Government didn't get the economy in a good state in the end did it?

piscesmoon · 11/10/2010 08:13

Utterly ridiculous! I haven't bothered to open the link, but since no one knows what was in the bottle it is pointless to speculate.

Northernlurker · 11/10/2010 08:15

Feeding the baby a bottle doesn't say 'we are just like you' - it says 'the baby is going to raise hell unless we give her some milk'

thisisyesterday · 11/10/2010 08:17

foxytocin, you should maybe take a read of this and try and understand why posting this sort of thing is not only unhelpful, but actively damaging

MmeBodyInTheBasement · 11/10/2010 08:17

scottishmummy Sun 10-Oct-10 22:00:27

reading waaay to much into a staged photo.think the message is supposed to be MrC AverageHardWorkingHandsOnDude feeds the wean and has a bevvy

any other interpretation is being purposefully obtuse

I agree completely with that statement.

Whether the baby is bf or ff, it is none of our business. This is a ridiculous thread.

piscesmoon · 11/10/2010 08:24

Think what an impression this thread would make if it was someone's first time on MN! They would never come back-unless they wanted a good laugh! It is utterly bizarre.

Hullygully · 11/10/2010 08:40

Pisces. Everything is political.

Wow.

How lucky the coalition is to have you lot. You are a gift.

piscesmoon · 11/10/2010 09:37

I really don't care if I am a gift! I'm not going to turn into a cynical, holier than thou, judgemental person because of it!
I would never get on in politics-I am 'what you see, is what you get'.

There was a lovely little item on breakfast news of a Royal Marine back from Afganistan with his wife, toddler and baby. He was bottle feeding the baby -(horror-how dare his wife have a bottle on TV and the BBC should have hidden it from view!!)It would be a very mean spirited person to take away the joy -and bring it down to quibbling about bottles or debating, on and on, whether his wife had chosen this, whether it was a one off or whether she was only doing it because bf had failed. It was irrelevant.

I bf all mine and they never had a bottle ever, but if anything was to put me off bfing it would be threads fussing about a one off picture with a bottle!

I can only think that people are really insecure with their own parenting methods and it makes them feel good to think themselves better than Samantha Cameron. (we don't even know what was in the bottle!!)

Hullygully · 11/10/2010 09:44

"cynical, holier than thou, judgemental person"

or "realist."

Giddyup · 11/10/2010 09:47

The only thing that puts me off long term breast feeding or even voicing my support for it is a fear of developing the nasty, judgemental attitude displayed by some people on MN.

The thought of being seen like that or being so awful to other people or so obsessed with what is essentially none of my fucking business truly makes me feel nauseous

Hullygully · 11/10/2010 09:49

I agree! Opinions are really unpleasant!! Make me vom every day!!!
