.... here. Jools & Jamie have had another baby.

Am I being unreasonable (although this is not the AIBU forum) but how ridiculous (or other words I can't think of) are these names?! Buddy Bear takes the whole thing to a new level...

Buddy Bear sounds like a brand of q-tips Hmm

chipmonkey · 16/09/2010 22:58

I am really happy for them!Smile

I don't think there's any need to be nasty about the names, either.

nickschick · 16/09/2010 22:59

My dog is called Buddy - Buddy the wonderdog Grin.

Numberfour · 16/09/2010 23:08

Buddy Bear. I despair.

CakeandRoses · 16/09/2010 23:37

You're a poet, Numberfour.

Aw, I'm pleased for them that they've had a boy.

Not that keen on Buddy myself but tbh I was relieved by the time I found out what the name was as DH wound me up saying they'd named him Cake'sDS's name and I was all worried thinking it would get v popular as a result. Bloody DH! Angry

CakeandRoses · 16/09/2010 23:39

but i do love Jamie Smile

Love the idea of Jools being a MN and reading this lot! Grin

I agree with the comments by northernlurker about high mortality rates elsewhere - glad they are all doing well!

BootyMum · 17/09/2010 08:30

I personally find Jamie and Jools irritating and smug. Both seem to be on a mission to assist the lesser mortals - he with the 'fat people' in America and she with her parenting expertise [as if nannies and maternity nurses, PA, etc isn't actually the secret to her success...] with that new mum advice book she wrote [and Jools is now described in the media as a "writer", did she actually write anything else?]

Right rant over, okay not my favourite celeb couple...

I do think their children's names are quite sweet and cute... but not sure how they'll feel about them when they are adults?

melikalikimaka · 17/09/2010 09:04

Poppy,Daisy,Petal and now Bud[dy]are all parts of flowers! Hope he's happy now he's got his heir. It's ok for him, his wifes health is good and loads of money to boot.

FanjolinaJolie · 17/09/2010 09:31

The four names together are a bit much.

But then I don't go for family name 'themes' or same initials as it does sound very twee.

BO as initials are not good. Neither is PO come to think of it, makes me think 'piss off'

But they look like a very happy family and are blessed as IIRC Jools was thought to have difficulty gettin pregnant.

silentcatastrophe · 17/09/2010 09:34

Buddy was the name of our dog. We changed it.

SirBoobAlot · 17/09/2010 09:56

Blimey... I really thought they had outdone themselves with Petal Blossom Rainbow. Buddy Bear?

Its the sequel to Special Agent Oso on Playhouse Disney, surely.

And BO as initials? I can hear the laughter already...

preghead · 17/09/2010 10:01

The reason they all look so good in those Portland shots is they have the baby a couple of days before, have a good night's sleep, baby taken care off, get their hair, makeup etc done in their rooms and then announce to the media the baby just born and take the shots. That is why the birthdates never quite tally up.

We would also look that good (well, almost maybe) if we had our stylists attend post-birth pre-pics.

Walters83 · 17/09/2010 10:22

It just reminds me of Buddy the Elf from "Elf" I don't know if that is a good or bad thing.

Mouseface · 17/09/2010 10:46

Maybe once they are adults, they'll just be Poppy, Daisy, Petal, and Buddy?

Someone I know is 'Buddy' due to his surname.

SweetBeadieRussell · 17/09/2010 12:23

aw, they're all so gorgeous its brought tears to my eyes. buddy bear sounded odd at first but minutes later its beginning to sound v normal. buddy'll be all over the baby names threads in no time...

threestars · 17/09/2010 12:52

I thought it was just a couple of months ago that she had her last daughter?

DH's grandad was called Buddy. I quite like it.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 17/09/2010 13:03

I told my DCs about this this morning and DS aged 8 promptly announced that he wanted to be called Buddy Bear from now on...Shock.

So had to call him that all the way to school...just hope nobody heard me. And that he has forgotten by tonight. Otherwise, pity me!

jafina · 17/09/2010 13:25

I think it's a perfectly acceptable name and Jamie is fabulous.

I do feel slightly sorry for girl number 3 (Petal?) after all the "thank goodness we finally had a boy" sort of comments Hmm

HarrietTheSpy · 17/09/2010 14:05

My theory (and apologies if this has already been done) is that these aren't the kids' names at all. It's all a huge joke to fool the press and protect their privacy.

If so, HATS OFF TO THEM, and good luck.

taffetacat · 17/09/2010 14:16

lol @ Fang

< wishes had thought of it for DS >

Buddy - whatever. Who cares?

PadmeHum · 17/09/2010 14:29

I like the names Poppy, Daisy, Petal and Buddy sound lovely together.

Congratulations to the Oliver Family!

PerpetuallyAnnoyedByHeadlice · 17/09/2010 14:42

I think the funniest thing is that Buddy Bear sounds like one of those awful processed meats Jamie is so set against kids eating - with the faces on it

I still think they are wrong to have gone so public about how badly they wanted a boy - those younger 2 girls will grow up with a complex

Glitterknickaz · 17/09/2010 15:08

The name could have been a heck of a lot worse.
I just think the Buddy and Bear together sound cartoonish or q-tippish as another poster said. Or like Billy Bear the shite processed meat.

Turning the middle names round would possibly have been better, but hey not my decision to make.

Wishing the family every happiness though.
